If Canada wins on Sunday, do you think Carey Price deserves the MVP?

I think at the end of the day, the MVP will either go to Doughty or Karlsson, but the "any decent goaltender in the world can play just as well behind that defense" crowd is laughable.

Sens fans and Nucks fans have been the worst in terms of bashing Price so far. Leafs fans have actually been pretty complimentary of his play though.

Anyways, I just wanna see this team win the Gold Medal, everything else is secondary. I doubt any of these guys cares about the MVP anyways.

He's in a lose-lose situation unless he wins the Gold Medal.

I was thinking yesterday before the game: Price wins, it's because of the amazing team in front of him, but Price loses, the blame falls on his shoulders and he's been outdueled by Quick.

hehe but he's used to that EVERY NIGHT he plays thats the deal pretty much

Don't lump us all together. I am quite happy with Price and how he has played. I have always felt that if we have to worry about goaltending we aren't playing to our strengths.

Canucks fan here, and I have been very happy with Price's performance. I just don't think he should get the MVP (if Canada wins). Depends on the gold medal game, obviously, but thus far I don't think he should be the guy. Doughty or Weber have been much bigger difference makers.

yea i think Doughty/Weber or whoever scores the GWG would be the lock unless Price can steal a win with a shutout type performance

I would agree if he steals a win. I'm not sure just a shut out does the trick, though it would still be awfully impressive.

I think a player who doesn't have the points to win it, but as been everything Canada needed of him and is quietly probably having the best tournament with Doughty is Jonathan Toews.

That guy has brought it and been instrumental, I'd prefer him get it over anyone else on the team to be quite honest.

I wish there was some word available to describe this ineffable quality of Toews, this ability to be important to his team without necessarily scoring goals, getting assists, or contributing in some statistically tangible way...

Well I could have said intangibles but then I woudl have had to post the TSN chart and I was too lazy to google it.

But yes, his INTOEWSABLES have been magnifique for the team

I haven't even bashed Price, I like Price, just saying he isn't this teams MVP cause he hasn't had to be and many Habs fans are pumping him as TC MVP but others like Weber and Doughty have been better. Also, let's remember before this started Hab fans were going around saying if no Hab player is playing for TC that you hope they don't win a metal, I haven't seen comments like that from any other fan base.

No matter how well Rask plays, the fact still is that Price beat him and is the GMG, not bronze.

Except Rask didn't play in the semis so he couldn't influence the outcome. Given how the SWE-FIN game looked it wasn't out of the realm of possibility that Rask could've turned that game in Finlands favor. Lehtonen let in a soft goal. So you can't really use that as a measuring stick.

Anyway, I think it's between Doughty, Weber and Karlsson right now.

I see it playing out like this..

Karlsson if he has a great game, even in a loss (not been on ice for goal against 5 on 5)
Doughty if he has a strong game in a win.
Price if he is a decisive factor in a close win.
Lundqvist if he steals the gold single-handedly.

Weber could also take it if he scores a key goal in a win.

A lot to be decided yet.

Price beat Rask in their game and made key saves at the beginning of the 1st, end of the third and in OT. No matter how well Rask plays, the fact still is that Price beat him and is the GMG, not bronze.

Please. Finland had no business winning that game. Price played well but Rask was on another level. Let in the weak game winner but give me a break. One goalie has an elite team with no weaknesses, the other doesn't. Can't believe you're even making a case for Price over Rask.

Also, Price did not beat him. Canada beat Finland.

what? hell no he doesn't, not unless he steals the gold medal game, he has been "solid" but not spectacular. the standards for MVP are low if he wins
