If Canada wins on Sunday, do you think Carey Price deserves the MVP?

Luongo might or might not have done the same. At best he would have done equal. At worst, he might have done alot worse. It also might have been something in between. There is no way to know he wouldnt have dropped a total stinker like he did in atleast 3 out of 7 games he played in the NHL finals. And Price had to play great against the Americans, not just good, and there is no way to know for certain Luongo would have.
Either way it is clear the Team did not make a mistake starting Price as much as that pains some to admit (they might not have been making a mistake had they gone with Luongo too, but we will never know on that). Luongo is no sure thing, just like Price isnt. There were equally as many reasons to doubt and be nervous for both frankly.

Because people shat on luongo even tho he won gold, and price has been good but people are touting him as the savior of canada, like he stole a medal for canada.
Has priced raised his value and stock with this Olympics so far?, absolutely. But has he been tested, Not even close. Nothing comes close to 2010.
And don't give me this crap like Habs fans would not be saying the same thing, if Luongo was the starter and price was sitting the pine. It would be the exact same reaction, just like it was earlier in the tourney when they hate hate posts on Luongo.

As for the question, If price gets a shutout and makes 40+ saves, then yes he will be. If not it's Drew doughty, the best d-man in the world.

If Sweden outshoots Canada 45-18 and Canada wins 1-0, then I could see him getting MVP, but that's about the only way that happens.
Agree.... Price been solid but come on, that defense and upfront are so good defensively, any goalie will look solid in net.

I'd go with Doughty or Weber as well. Everyone's played well on the team, though nobody's been great, consistently great except for those two. Total and complete team effort. Maybe the coaching staff should be the MVP - yes, the same staff that can't get the lines straight

Who cares if Luongo would have done the same as Price or not. He wasnt able to, and Price was. I'm not sure why Lou keeps getting brought up everyu single time we talk of Price. We get it Nucks fans and others....you like your guy.
Did you even watch the game against the Americans? Price was tested several times and every time he came up big. He didn't have room to make a single mistake and he didn't.
And while the defense obviously played amazing, Price's rebound control was fantastic and he did a great job of stopping the US from getting second chances on their shots.

Crosby has been our best forward overall (Benn and Toews have also been great imo), but it is Doughty all the way if Canada wins.

Price has been good but goal scoring has been a rarity for team canada. Playing stellar defense and scoring important goals, it's either Doughty or Weber. And this is nothing on price, I just think he's never had to bail the team out while Doughty and Weber have.

Face it Lu almost blew the gold medal for Canada in 2010.The team save it for him.
Price has played near perfect in these Olympics.No one can say that team Canada would be going for the gold had Lu been in net but we can say Price is one of the major reasons why we are in position for the gold.

It was the worst timing imaginable, but to say he's the one to blame for that goal is just one of those things people will cling to no matter what to discredit Luongo. They already lost the "any goalie could win Gold playing for Canada" argument when Brodeur lost to the same USA team Luongo beat, after all.
It's Karlsson or Lundqvist if Sweden wins.

it's funny how everyone remembers that goal but nobody remembers the save he made on Demitra in the Semi final which saved Canada from an epic choke job..

The only reason Luongo keeps getting slammed is for some reason you guys keep bringing him up in threads about Price. Price has been much better this year than Luongo was in 2010, and there was a reason Babcock went with the "unproven" Price vs the guy who won before.
um, If Price got the defensive support that Luongo did he'd be giving up more goals.
