If Canada wins on Sunday, do you think Carey Price deserves the MVP?

Nah it won't change, one game of him standing on his head doesn't make him MVP, Doughty and Weber have been the best players on TC throughout this olympic run. I'm sure Price would've been solid if he had to but the fact is this D has been just too freaking good that it would've made Dubnyk look like a stud goalie. Price has done his job and I'm sure he's happy with the D not putting him in a tough spot and making his life easier, but no way should Price be in the running I just think others have been more of a stand out, like Doughty, Karlsson and Quick.

Dubnyk? really?

Canada's strong suit has clearly been their d. If it goes to Canada it's got to be a dman and more specifically Doughty unless Weber has a dominant performance in the final.

I don't think Sweden will generate that many chances on Sunday so Price won't have the chance to steal the game.

If Sweden wins, Karlsson.

Price's total shots faced in each game: 31, 16, 20, 15 or an average of 20.5 shots against.

Im not seeing an MVP. Its not like he's faced 35+ shots a game to get Canada into the Gold Medal game.

1 good game and 3 easy games.

This. It just shows how good the defense has been. USA hardly had any grade B scoring chances, let alone grade A.

Doughty, Weber, or Karlsson. Price has been good, no doubt, but people are overreacting to an easy shutout

wasnt there a clean breakaway on Keith in the first ten seconds of the game yesterday?

Price makes it look easy people - i watch him 60-70 games a year he is in the zone

Thats all you got?
That's all I really need. Canada's still got one more win to get, and even then I don't care for comparing two goalies who played for two different teams, on two different sets of ice, in different countries to boot. Can't get anymore trivial, mate.

Yeah, Doughty probably deserves it. Especially fitting that he plays for a Californian team. Future of hockey and so on, after all.

Hardly. Kessel beat Keith to the outside and had a straight wrister from the lower side of the circle. He was never free with room to stick handle or anything like that. Not what I would call a clean breakaway by any stretch. At all. And regardless of how Price 'makes it look' 90% of our shots were perimeter, throw the puck on net, innocuous non-threats.

Yet here you are, downplaying Prices accomplishments so far.

Downplaying? More like not over-hyping.

He's played well. I wouldn't say fantastic or amazing, but again that's not really his fault

And for the record, I don't think Luongo was anything super special in 2010. He got the job done in the end though and deserved his Gold.

Price has been good...very good. If you look at the stats you might think MVP but he wasn't challenged much until this game.

Price was fantastic today, but if I had to give an MVP it would go to Doty. Guy is an absolute monster, happy to have him on the team. LAK lucked out bigtime

Doughty has been the overall best player so far. He has been great offensively, got the production and plays heavy minutes for Canada. Weber is another good choice. That canadian defense is by far the standout of the tournament in my opinion.

A lot of people saying Karlsson, but I think it would be wrong to appoint someone who looks to be our 3rd pairing PP-specialist in important games as the MVP. Lundqvist would be my choice from Sweden.

It all depends on the game Sunday. If people think Price isn't in the running then you didn't watch the game today. He stopped Kessel a few times, flashed the leather against (Pavelski?) when he shot point blank in the first period and was solid the whole game, never giving up rebounds. With about 50 seconds left we failed to clear the puck and it went right on an American's stick. Price stopped that quick wrister and steered it away. Just because he made it look easy it doesn't mean he didn't stand on his head.

Quick had more work in his end today but Price still made some key saves. So let's see how the game goes Sunday. I can't see Sweden testing him as much either as the Americans, but who knows. Another shutout with 30 saves and you might just give it to him.

That being said Doughty is Canada's front runner as of now. Karlsson for sure for Sweden.

Yeah I'm a Habs fan...I would take Doughty so far.

He's been outstanding.

That said if we need to rely on Price for 30+ saves in a gold medal win then he deserves to be in the conversation.

Weber is there too I should add.

Those shots he's ripping I mean WTF.

Some of the hardest bullets I've ever seen in my life.

Also real solid defense.

Love this team....except Kunitz ;).

In reply to the thread title: No. Doughty does.

Karlsson's played more than any other Swede except Lundqvist.
Against findland he was what, fifth in time. Is he hurt?

But congratulations playing big minutes against the weak sister teams. Drew doughty is one goal behind on a team whose offense can't score and when things get dicey, his ice time doesn't shrink.

Unless Karla on gets a hasty against price there is no way he's played better than doughty who is getting it done on every inch of the ice.

I love price but for goalies i think quick had a better tournament, he looked awsome againts canada.

No knock on pricey do, that def is nearly as good as sex
