Just want him to act faster. Split Marner and matthews 5 games ago at least. Dont play Nylander with Tavares. Play hot players more and in critical parts of the game. I just ask of him to do the best he can with what he got. That part can be a lot better.

They’re literally tied for 6th place overall.
Tied for 6th after being held back again by their gm and coach to start. Imagine the potential with proper gm and coach.

This core should be stomping the league right now. 5th best team already has 6-7 losses. Parity has taken over as I predicted and Leafs were setup for multiple cups once that happened especially with the flat cap.

GM built total garbage around the core totally offsetting the cheat code setup we have and on top of that gave them Keefe.

Leafs are 8-8 from a playoff ready point of view.

Islanders are 5th place and 99% don't think they're even a playoff team. But when it comes to Keefe suddenly standings are useful. This place is a joke sometimes.

This place is funny, first the Leafs are poorly coached for outscoring their problems. They transform into one of the best defensive teams in the league, despite losing a #3 D to injury and their 2 NHL goaltenders, and coaching is still a problem.

Just have two issues so far this year:

1. Split Matthews and Marner for a bit. It clearly isn't working right now.
2. Get Sandin back on his strong side. Especially with Brodie out and Gio getting elevated minutes anyways.

Rielly-Liljegren
Giordano-Holl
Sandin-Benn

Playoff losses are a tie, not a loss. Gimmicks are not a credible “playoff ready” measure.

I know everyone wants more but from the outside looking in, collecting 7 out of 14 points with your 4th string goalie would normally be looked upon as a win.
On the outside. But if you've watch this team closely for the past several years you know that what they sell and what they produce are two different things.

They are also giving up far fewer goals than last few years.

So what translates into better odds in a playoff series?

If the Leafs have decided to limit chances and play a more possession/ cycle game instead of a track meet style and still win more than they lose using a 4th string goalie then they will be fine

We've given up 4 or more goals in 6 of 17 games this year

Fair enough. But any team that can manage a .500 point percentage with a 4th string goalie would be thrilled.

clearly no one is grabbing the point ... so all teams with a sub .600 should fire the coach
lets all wait for gallant to be fired and hire him instead

You realize we're only "second" because we've played more games then every other team behind us right

beginning last night, the 8 games stretch that finishes on Thanksgiving weekend should tell the tale. They play Pitt, NJD, Buff, NYI, NJD, Minn, Pitt.

That’s not a gruelling stretch and if they spin their tires then they might have to make a change.

Actually it’s been 2nd and 3rd string goalies, who’ve been good despite the fact the team is a turnover machine.

Again, they’ve been selling this as a team that can win a playoff round and to both the outside and inside, that might be a stretch.

Our schedule has been far from grueling travel aside this season already.

We've played 7/17 games against teams in playoff position.

The next stretch is actually a bit more tricky then what we've played

Every 10 game stretch will be tricky. I haven’t looked at the opposition schedules but maybe some of those teams have “schedule losses” built in the night they play the Leafs

What a difference a day makes, or a win makes...

I don't even know about this team, but I doubt anyone is getting fired anytime soon. TOR are not good enough to give us confidence that they're going to be a contender this season, but they are not bad enough to fire half of the management team either.

If TOR tail spins into 9 straight losses then we might see Keefe fired. Nothing more. If Shanny fires Dubas/Keefe together then he'll look like a megachump. Then he'll be sacked. Imagine going through the rest of the season with no coach, GM, or President?

Toronto will likely make the post-season as a lower seat. Are they good enough to win a playoff round? We'll see, but it's hard to imagine major improvements from now until playoff time. I say fans will finally get their blood shed after the first round of the playoffs.

Part of the problem is they’ve set their standards so low that passable is good enough.

The let’s wait and see if they can win in the playoffs isn’t good enough anymore. They can’t continue to waste seasons hoping changes to the 3rd and 4th line is going to get them over the line.

It's a long season. And regular season not that important for them. They'll come around.

I would hope to God that 1 playoff series win wouldn't keep everyone employed.

How would people feel about Dubas/Keefe if they made it to the semi-finals? Are they safe then?

Oh no no, don't get it twisted I'd fire Keefe tomorrow and have Trotz on a plane here ASAP.

But the fact still remains they are 2nd in the division, 7th in the entire NHL and, just 1 point back of LA for 4th in the entire NHL.

Until it falls apart and so far it hasn't Keefe is safe.
