No one steps out onto the ice without glancing at the net.

Furthermore, he picked a corner. Are you suggesting he can do that blind? I didn’t realize Daredevil played for the Czechs.

At the end of the day, Mugzy is correct that the entire incident could've been avoided if they didn't let players on the ice for warm ups while there are still staff working on the nets, and ice staff should be required to wear a helmet.

With that said, even if the first kid didn't look before shooting, it doesn't absolve him of responsibility. He should be aware of his surroundings and what he's shooting at. Moreover, can't excuse the second guy at all for firing the puck at the guy. It's immature, reckless, and disrespectful to shoot a puck at another person because you're upset.

The guy literally just did it in the OP video.

So you believe he deliberately shot the puck at the net knowing the kid was there?

That video doesn't have enough definition to show you exactly where the player is looking. Don't believe that for a second.

Yes, I think he deliberately shot the puck knowing he was there. He was probably sure he'd miss the player, and was having fun, but it wasn't cool.

dude should've just flipped the net and left the ice, that's so f***ed up it's not even close to being funny

Well the video doesn’t show enough to prove the player knew the kid was there either. Maybe he did, and if so, he’s an ***hole.

dick move by the players

but like others have mentioned, why let the teams out on the ice when the crew member is still out there? get the kid off the ice first and then let the teams on

I don't understand why three different players from both teams (2 Czechs and 1 Swede) did this stupid thing. It almost seems like they had some controversy with that guy, or the ice crew in general, before that warm up. But more probably they simply are 19 years old kids, who think this is funny. Their coaches should certainly rebuke them and I hope they did so. I understand young players sometimes make such dirty jokes among themselves, but they should clearly recognize that this guy is not one of them, he has no interest in their silly jokes, and understands this as an invective and act of disrespect. Hopefully those guys will grow up from this.

They sure can, but from Laine it took one and half year of psychology and it was just verbal attack. He didn't actually tried to shoot puck toward people.

I don't believe they wanted to humiliate the guy or anything like that, they simply didn't think enough. They just took a spontaneous idea "let's give that guy a little scare." But surely they should be rebuked. On the other hand, when I was 19 years old, I sometimes behaved like an equal f....r, and supposed that to be "cool" or "rakish" too. I wouldn't compare this to an insult on the ref or an intentional attempt to injure the opponent or similar things. This was a stupid boyish mischief, they should get a dressing-down and learn from this.

Was it the same Czech player who shot both pucks? Both were big left handed guys... Couldn't see numbers.

Most of the Czech players are left handed. If it was the same, he should collect the puck after every practice since that or something. I think he neither of the two guys (Nečas and Vála) who apologized to the crew guy after. Those two perhaps felt ashamed because of their mate.

How about you just don't let players in when there's still someone doing something with the net. That poor guy can only blame the organizers for this mess.

No swedish player shot at that guy. The puck that hit the guy on his way out was deflected.

Yes, but the players should think for themselves. Perhaps they were waiting some time before they were allowed to go to the ice and some guy(s) became annoyed by this, but that's no excuse.

Regarding the Swedish player, this is what they said. :) But it was not apparent from the video and I wasn't there, so I can't judge that.

Yeah, the people working on the nets shouldn't be out there with the players and pucks. That crap happened all the time when played. Yes, people were screwing around, but it's a miracle nobody got seriously hurt.

Those are heat of the moment things. Don't know what this guy did to players because they wanted teach him a lesson. I have sometimes disliked referees and opponent players but never felt I should before the game shoot the puck toward worker who try to fix the net.

I believe they were just annoyed, as they've been waiting too long for the warm-up. Silly teenage guys. But it is well possible that it was one guy who shot both pucks. I was not able to identify the number. The rest of the players just held their shots, as the crew guy raised his arm. I am still not sure whether he might actually be Vála (no. 14), who apologized to the guy after. Maybe he realized he just did a stupid thing?

I hope so. And I hope he realized that on his own. It's funny how Czechs media doesn't care this tournament. It's like finnish media 5 years ago.

Just identified the player: Ostap Safin, number 27. Here, his number is visible, as he turns back:

Regarding the second shot, I am not sure, but I believe it might be him again. As he turns back, Chytil, 21, is talking to him, perhaps rebuking him for that shot. And then, Vála and Nečas apologize to the crew guy. Safin didn't even apologize. What a stupid guy, thinks that when he is tall and knows how to play hockey, he can do anything he wants, or what? Needs to learn some respect. A large frame, but as a person, he really needs yet to grow up.

They didn't even see the guy, when you hit the ice during the warm-ups you just wanna skate around a little, feel the puck on your stick, stretch your body. They weren't even aiming.

People who say this was intentional, are out of their mind.

The guy wasn't supposed to be there in the first place, unfortunate situation that's for sure but atleast our guys apologized.

You're out of your mind. The net isn't even on the moorings or in the proper place yet he still snipes the corner. None of the other players are shooting at the net because they know hes there and they're not stupid, fast forward to the next frame another shot being fired (probably the same kid)..lo and behold the nets turned sideways they once again hit the net. That's some amazing sixth sense shit going on hitting a net not in its proper place without looking.

So he was just supposed to leave the net in the improper place and not on its moorings for their practice? Czech team went out there early compared to Sweden too and he probably would've finished his job a hell of a lot faster without pucks whizzing by his head.
