So you think they just skate out there, don't look up at all, don't look at the net, don't see who is around and just start shooting pucks like they were blindfolded.
That is exactly what they did, it happens all the time in warm ups. Do you play hockey?

Yes. Never once did I just skate out onto the rink with my eyes closed and start shooting pucks randomly.

No offense dude but like I said there is something seriously wrong with you if you really believe that.

That's your opinion but there is really nothing wrong with me.

Definitely seems like they were messing with the kid.

The net wasn't even facing the right way in the one clip, and it sure looked like he was even yelling out to them to stop. I can't imagine in the probably 2-3 minutes all this took place, there were still players on the ice unaware of the work being done on the net or that there was a member of the ice crew walking around. Even if you believe they're solely focused on the puck, skating, taking shots and nothing else... that's a stretch.

I'm sure the players just wanted him to get his ass off the ice, but no excuse for that. Bad looks all around.

Arrogant young kids who thinks they are more valuable human beings than other because they can play hockey. Have seen these plenty.

Don't worry most of them will be selling insurance with zero life skills in a few years.

Man, poor kid. The first one barely grazing his head. The last one looks like it was done purposefully.

He was rightfully seething as he came off. Wouldn't be surprising if he told the staff to stuff it and just walked right out.

I was on the reddit thread where this was posted and it was really annoying to see everyone making jokes about the guy and making stupid "czech" puns. Glad people here on the forum have better senses. This was extremely stupid and dangerous, that man had every right to be pissed off.

He picked the corner with his shot, also his shot wasn't that hard. If he wasnt looking where he was shooting he probably would have shot in the middle of the net a lot harder. warm up are for warming up, I know when I go out for warm ups I'm trying to pick corners the whole time. I'm looking where I'm shooting every time.

There is absolutely no way he didn't know that kid was there when he shot the puck. When you're coming on the ice you take a look around.

Am I crazy for thinking this is completely reckless? The commentator's are just laughing it off but if that first puck hit him in the temple it could have done some serious damage.

Help me out here..I've never played hockey but as soon as you skate onto the ice for warmups do you really not look at the net before you shoot a puck?

that guy was not happy

Not everybody does, especially when pucks are on the ice by the door you enter through. Some people get the puck immediately and want to shoot it at the net without taking a good look.

Anyway my original point is that this work should be completed by an ice crew member and the member leave the ice before players get on the ice, and that person should be wearing a helmet, and a situation like this will never happen.

Honestly, for sake of argument lets give the first guy the benefit of the doubt and say he didn't see him. I don't believe that for a second but whatever.

Even if that is true they still did the same shit another two times. Deliberately.

Withou taking a good look. You still take a look at the net and if you take a look at the net you see someone sitting there. Plus, like I said, he picked the corner.

Was the Sweden one deliberate? I can't tell if that was just a puck that came off then net or the boards or what but you don't see anyone shooting at him in the third clip.

Come on, this is just silly. This is basic etiquette 101. Think about going to the local rink and hacking around. Before you fire a shot at an open net, you look to see if anyone is in the vicinity. You just don't bury your head and fire a shot.

Imagine instead of this poor kid who was just doing his job, it was instead the team's goalie, facing the net as he was about to put his helmet on for the warmup, and he gets pelted. Would it still be okay?

I remember one time one of my teammates shot the puck on net while my coach was getting pucks out of the net. There weren't pucks on the ice the rest of practice and it never happened again.

You're taught at a really young age to never shoot the puck if there's someone in the net other than the goalie or if the goalie isn't looking at you. It should be a lot easier to hold off when you can see the dude doesn't have any freaking equipment on. Pretty reckless.

Not sure why everyone is attacking me on this. It is pretty clear the player didn't look up at the net until the puck was leaving his stick. He simply didn't see the kid in the net. The whole situation is avoided if they hold the players until arena staff are done and removed.

Because you're wrong. No one goes on the ice and fire puck at the net without looking at it lmao.

Not excusing the players who shot the pucks, but why in the world isn't this guy at least wearing a helmet? Don't all players have to wear helmets in warm ups now? How on earth are they letting this guy out on the ice, IN THE NET, with two teams shooting around pucks, and he's not wearing a helmet?

Let alone the guys shooting pucks at him, all he has to do is slip or step on a puck and land on his head and it could be game over.

Hockey is moronic sometimes.

Not sure what he thought was going to happen, crouched down in the net while hockey players are warming up. :help:

I put the blame on whoever let the players on the ice early in the first place, and also whoever decided the rink staff didn't need helmets.

Also, if the players wanted to hit him, they would've. But I didn't see anyone winding up a slapshot. Just a few lazy wristers to get him to hurry up and leave the ice.

Poor kid. Wonder if he'll sue.

Haven't seen anybody claiming they tried to hit him (maybe that swede tried who actually hit him). Problem is it's dangerous to take those "lazy wristers" to your head if player miss that spot 40 cm from your head and actually hit your temple. Wilhelm Tell is still legend after 700 years because he didn't miss the spot.

If there's one thing hockey players are known to lack, its peripheral vision.
