Not sure if you joking but he obviously doesnt care about stick signed by two juniors. No one claim that some hockey players dont live in paralel reality.

They were just trying to show they are sorry. I am pretty sure they wouldn't be so sorry if the coach didn't tell them "go to that guy and apologize." But at least they respect their coach. Now they need to learn to think first before they do certain things.

They look weird there and considering they both play in NA, it was quite a strange interview so you might be right. I dont have high hopes about hockey players. On the other hand Vala apologized to him right after that. So I guess they were just switched off or they are just idiots. But its definetely good to see what some euros here think about czechs. Not saying some czech people dont deserve it, especially in terms of hockey I would prefer all our youngs to be lets say more westerns, but its not for the first time I see this attitude. Swede would never done that.....etc

Arrogant young kids who thinks they are more valuable human beings than other because they can play hockey. Have seen these plenty.

Why wouldn't they think that way when we fans put them on a pedestal because of their hockey skills? We can blame ourselves when they become so cocky.

Otherwise I agree with what you said before. Guys do that jokes in hockey. I never consider it as normal. Maybe only czechs do it but it obviously depends on circumstances. This one was clearly the wrong in all aspects

That's not the entire truth. It's something in the hockey culture that makes some hockey players become wired in the wrong way. They just become morons who don't know how to behave. It was the same in my school, of all the athletes, the hockey players had the biggest dumbasses. Combine the weird hockey culture with the fine line between bravery and foolishness and voilá.

I have a feeling it's the same with American football players. Some of them just become jackasses.

Absolutely unreal, can't believe what I just watched. The first shot could've seriously injured the guy and didn't miss by much.

They obviously knew the guy was in the net also, it's ridiculous to suggest otherwise. I don't care what their normal routine is you know when someone is around the net.

Ostap Safin, what a *****ebag...
This guys has obviously weird sense of humour. Hist teammate took picture with Jagr, posted it on Instagram and Safin asked him who is it and how many points he has. Bad karma chase him. This can seriously damage his reputation. Vala apologized immediatelly on ice so there is no need to be that strict imo. Anyway they are just juniors, hopefully it was a last life lesson for them.

Look, when you read Czech forums, everyone tries to defend these guys almost uncritically. The same with the Swedish fans (Swedish puck was no doubt accidental, a Swede would never do this etc.). Many fans defend "their" players under any circumstances and show from zero to little amount of critical thought. That's pretty normal. Just look what the Czech fans say about other nations... usually the same bull...t.

It was a crappy thing to do. Yes, they knew what they were doing. They weren't trying to hit him; they were aggravated he was still out there, and they buzzed his head to hurry him off the ice. Not cool. Totally intentional. The puck could have dipped, or he could have moved up suddenly, and it would have been far worse than a black eye in terms of PR for the national team.

The gesture on the part of the Czech national team is nice, and should close the book on it. Now I doubt very much the players had any role in proposing it, so I'm not sure they deserve much credit. At least the national team realized this just looked terrible and tried to make amends. It would have been a much better story if they had not so ham-handedly made sure to film it and broadcast the apology, so take it as the PR move it was, really. Still, it's better than nothing. It signifies to everyone that the national team chastised the players and sent them out to issue this public apology, and everyone will take it in that vein. The players are publicly chastised, and that's probably the only win here. Safin likely won't do this again.

Some people are just jerks. See Stampy.

Maybe I'm naive, but I just don't believe they would intentionally shoot the puck next to someone's head. I'm also not that harsh like everyone here to crucify someone without knowing all the information. I played as a kid for about 10 years and I definitely shot some pucks during warmups without really looking. It was just a routine. I just like to believe that people are not idiots the same way like some other people like to believe that everyone is an idiot.

And of course talks like that ice hokey players are worse than other sportsmen or that czechs are worse than swedes... that doesn't even deserve to be commented.

That whole display was pathetic and shows how entitled some of this kids are. It was a black eye for the game, embarrassing.

Blows my mind that some people think any of that was deliberate.

The third shot from the Swedes wasn’t deliberate. For the first two you’d have a very hard time convincing me they didn’t know he was in the net. Especially the second one. Guys don’t get on the ice, grab a puck and shoot it without looking at the net once.

Saw the clip myself....what gives?....are these shooters brain-dead or just trying to scare an ice-maintenance official for the 'fun of it'. If I was their coach, I'd read the riot act to them.

The people assuming it was deliberate are morons. Nobody would do that deliberately. There was a long article in the Czech press about the apology - the boys were on autopilot, did not really look and when they realised their mistake they immediately went to the guy, apologised profusely, gave him lots of free hockey stuff and told him they would send him more free stuff. He was incredibly touched by the apology and could not believe it. That is the Czech players at least, no idea what the Swede did.

p.s. The bigotry and stupidity of the posts insist by that, of course, a Swede would never ever do this deliberately really amuses me. So if according to these experts every single Swede is such a paragon of virtue, how come that the single most depraved, loud, inconsiderate and downright disgusting thing I have ever seen (more than once, ironically also in Prague) is a group of drunk Swedes?

*insust by = insisting. Should not post from iPhone with autocorrect and a very cracked screen. Or at least bother to read before posting.

It was just one post here to be honest. I overreacted to it too.. Czechs certainly deal with lot of issues now and if somebody judge it based on internet info, thats where we goes. But guys, stop that nationalistic talk, thats a bullshit.
