Kinda poetic having Mikkola slam Chytil to the boards at the end of game 1, then having Tarasenko score the dagger in Game 6. It’s like the hockey gods were laughing.
Game 5 was same thing. Tarasenko driving the net hard causing the winning goal (Well not winning goal but it basically was).
And Mikkola holding off 3 or 4 Rangers to burn off the last 10 seconds or so to end game.

Florida’s big bottom 6 ate ours for breakfast lunch and dinner. Lavi responded by wearing out the top guys. Less Kakko’s and Chytil’s and more Cuylle’s and Edstrom’s going forward.
Well, I partially agree. Cuylle was stronger, but handled the puck like it was a grenade all series. Plays died on his stick a lot. I hope he continues to grow as his physicality and speed are a really intriguing combo. Just need him to play with more poise and skill. Hopefully that comes over time... Edstrom is another one of those guys that is likely more of a fourth line player but I hope he has more skill to go along with his size and speed. We'll see. But we need to find a big SOB with top end talent.

I think there are a lot of tough to play against guys in the system, but I don't know that any are top 6 players. That's going to be the issue. Team needs a top 6 guy or two that are tough to play against. I'm not convinced this is merely about finding the right complimentary players to go around Zibby, Kreider, Panarin, Fox and Laffy. There's a top 6 piece or two missing... and it's not clear to me that we have that player in the system or on the roster.
Perreault is absolutely a top 6 prospect and I think Berard and Othmann will be on the cusp of that. They could also make a trade for one.

My brother in Christ, just do what I do. You can still watch the games. But if you notice it impacting your life in a negative way, step back.

We have an insanely hardcore fanbase. Debbies and Islanders fans wish they had these problems. Just step back and enjoy life for a week without the team. Something like that.

Far better solution than just checking out for a full season. Not sure how that helps.

@Machinehead - Please deal with the person that used a laughing emoji on this post as I've been told that is now warning-worthy from a Fish fan

(Also, imagine a Fish fan being so f***ing cringe as to think they can remotely talk, LMFAO)

You guys won a cup more recently, been to the big dance more recently, then you have an NBA team that looks like a juggernaut, then you had the Patriots dynasty.

Some people here are also Mets and Jets fans. They look 70 but are actually 20.

I'm glad I have the Giants two wins but they are such a bottom of the barrell franchise. I also don't covet the Super Bowl nearly as much as the cup. 17 games (16 when the Giants won) and at most 4 playoff games. I think football is a much more grueling sport but I think there's just much more variance built into the Super Bowl. There's no way that the 07 Patriots shouldn't have beat the snot out of the Giants. And the Giants legit had a negative point differential in 2011. I want a cup because I feel like it'll be a lot more earned than those two championships that were a team with a few clutch and good players getting hot.

Man Goodrow taking this loss to heart unlike the BFF. I know many still probably want him gone and I am sure he could be but gonna miss him come playoff time next year.

next year having a healthy Fox and a Chytil who has played more recently than November will already be a big upgrade. we have to do something major about the defense though and I don't expect this management to do it.

I’m with you I think Drury gave this group a last shot to do it their way. I don’t see any of the big guys moved (outside shot Trouba is a sacrificial lamb but I don’t think offing the captain in a presidents trophy year where you go to the ECF is sound decision making). I think they need to transition more this year into it being Lafreniere/Fox/Trocheck/Drury’s team. The big guys are still involved but they need diminished roles (and say in their linemates)
I think Trouba is a goner, same with Kakko.

I'm going to take a few days off from the site. I don't feel like being in the Devils fans' splash zone.

Maybe there will be a report card thread that I'll peek into or something.

You’re so sure about Laf but he did nothing tonight. You trust him without someone like Panarin on his wing? I’m not sure I want to take that risk.

Our issue is D and bottom six. I also wish we still had Buch and f*** Drury for giving him away for a bag of shit. Just trash asset management by him.
I’m not saying that Buch would have saved this team but Drury should have been fired for no other reason than the inexcusable return he got for what was our best asset, a 25 year old 60 point first line wing.

F- not getting a high end young center and a first for that player. F-.

No faith Chytil will be fully healthy ever again. If it's not Fox banged up, it'll be someone else. Stanley Cup winning teams find ways to overcome that stuff. It's a pretty healthy team all things considered.

This is true. Just those 2 things alone would be huge. I do think though there will be major changes on the D.

Don't count your Othmann Chickens before they hatch. Kid needs to sort out how to play all over the ice. He's a PP specialist right now in HFD. I am rooting for the kid, but I thought he has been slow to figure it out down there whereas you saw Cuylle get better and better as an all around player in his year in HFD. I don't see the same thing with Othmann. Berard I like. I really like. But his cieling is unclear. Perrault is a top 6 player, but he's another Panarin or Stepan type. We need a f*cking moose.

I’m sure they’d love to move Trouba I just don’t know how. They might just suck it up as he only has 2 years left and saw his role diminish in the playoffs. Something major needs to change on D. I think we can have 1 of Kandre and Lindgren in the top 4 but not both

The Giants actually had a better ranked defense in 07. In 2011, what people forget is that a lot of injured players were coming back healthy to the team at the right time.

also let's face it, if we drafted Evan Bouchard he would already be out of here. we're never patient with any young D with actual skill and they get scratched for useless husks like Trouba and Lindgren. Zac Jones should've been playing all season this year but one bad turnover and he's stapled to the press box while Trouba can flub a big hit and give up a primo scoring chance twice a game with no repercussions.

We may have to face the facts that Fox may always get too banged up in the playoffs. Love the guy. But he's going to get hit A LOT in the playoffs. And every year he's getting dinged up badly. Maybe he can sort it out as he ages. But his durability in the playoffs is a concern. 100%.

Which teams are winning cups with their Norris tier 1D clearly hurt? Fox is legitimately the worst person who could be injured aside from Igor
