Could McDavid been the problem all along.......... Jk
I know it's a joke, but in all seriousness...the saving grace of Connor being out is that it forces the team to simplify their game and stop overthinking/defaulting to McDavid all game long.

And for McDavid (brace for incoming bricks and tomatoes), I think this time off could give him a much-needed reset mentally. Don't get me wrong, his competitive drive is absolutely there and never in question. But before the injury, we all saw him have multiple moments of not shooting, over-processing, and almost getting caught up in his own head a bit. Some time away right now might just be what sets him free later.

You must have missed the screenshot kindly posted by @Norman99 in the GDT. Crystal clear. No goal.

You are right, didn't see it. How is it the command center doesn't have similar technology.
Yeah he was making great plays all over the ice and had a few good chances himself. Only a matter of time before he starts putting some in the net.
And he can fight, so ya he's worth he's salary.

It’s so weird how a lot of people have the opposite opinion. He was a rock on D tonight. Great on the clutch PK too
Most people see a couple of bad plays and think thats how the whole night was.

Defensemen dont play mistake free hockey all game, theres another team forcing them to make plays under pressure.

Big game by our German superstar. He's really shouldered the load with McD out. Stu was solid, if unspectacular. Zach starting to find his groove. Over all, a solid effort that had me clenching for a bit, but it's always nice to bury the Flames. :)

We're going streaking boys!

Plus McDavid out forced us to give up on accrued space and call up Philp and Caggiulla, who have basically fixed the fourth line

Quality game from the boys. Beat them with a roster that is only 80% of our cap hit.
Good bounce back game from Skinner. Didn't like the 2nd goal but was really solid outside of that. Still a few adventures on rebounds, but the boys cleaned up the front of the net.

What a goal from Skinner. Top 6 was great outside of Nuge who is still struggling. Podz-Drai-Arvidsson is a money 2nd line keep them together as long as they keep rolling like this. 3rd line still just feels like a weird line. I kind of want to see Janmark and Brown with Philp because I think it would look stronger as a shutdown line than Henrique there. Henrique just doesn't look quick enough to be a shut down centre. I think he'll look better on a scoring line when Kane and McDavid are back to give us that option.

Maybe

Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Arvidsson
Henrique-McDavid-Brown
Skinner-Nuge-Hyman
Janmark-Philp-Perry

When McDavid is back?

Hyman and Drai both have great skill on the backhands. To me, you don't see that skill as often anymore in the NHL. Everybody can wire it on the slapper but those high velocity shots on the backhand are much rarer.

That is kind of gross, except Drais line.

Crosby has a wicked backhand too. Agree you don't see that skill much.
