Had to miss the game but my god am I glad that Skinner seemingly had a good game, this place was getting unbearable with the Skinner hate.

Pretty good timeline for me today. Oilers beat the dirty Flames without McDavid and the Lions kicked that Packers ass. Good day for ole Cuppy. Go Oilers and Go Stu

Hyman and Drai both have great skill on the backhands. To me, you don't see that skill as often anymore in the NHL. everybody can wire it on the slapper but those high velocity shots on the backhand are much rarer.

I'm no goalie, but it feels like it would be much harder to stop a quick and accurate backhand (a bit of element of surprise, maybe?)

when you take the pass on the backhand and then take it to the forehand the goalie has time to adjust. Look at that Drai goal the other night in overtime. No chance for the goalie.

Kulak was a defensive disaster most of the night lol
The plays I am talking about was getting a stick on the flames when they split the D between he and Emberson, which I think should have been Ty's responsibility. Then when he cut off Coronato (I believe) after Coleman put a shot on a 2on1 looking for a rebound and the flames would have had a wide open net if not for Kulak. Both clutch defensive plays that highlighted his skating. Also, if you watch the replay on the Sharangovich goal, where Kulak got his minus, Kulak clears Mantha from out front only for Ty Emberson to push Mantha back in front of Skinner right as the shot is let go.

I don't think we would have won with Skinner letting in a bit of a stinker, a controversial goal against, AND one of our better Dmen being a "defensive disaster", so agree to disagree. If you wanna show me where he looked like one, I'm open though.

Maybe

Podkolzin-Draisaitl-Arvidsson
Henrique-McDavid-Brown
Skinner-Nuge-Hyman
Janmark-Philp-Perry

When McDavid is back?
How will it look when Kane is back as well?

Skinner - Mcdavid - Hyman
Podkolzin - Draisaitl - Arvidsson
Kane - Nuge - Philp
Janmark - Henrique - Brown

?

Don’t forget the play where he introduced Zary’s face to the boards. That was quite enjoyable.

Nurse had a good night.

Spent most of night with Kulak, so I'm not surprised to see him start to look better.

Honestly I think the Oil might be looking for an upgrade at LD on the 3rd pair vs. another RD.

Ekholm-Bouchard
Nurse-Kulak
Dumoulin-Emberson

Gets them back to having a mamoth defence, but unlike last year the bottom 4 is increadibly mobile.

Draisaitl playing like the highest paid player in the league. The Oilers still look rusty as hell and they were pretty sloppy and lazy from the 2nd period on. Luckily, the Flames look worse than my dog's shit after eating crab apples all morning.

The Oilers have miles to go before looking close to where they were last year, but they are way ahead of where they were this time last year. They have to figure out the 2nd pairing right D.

Interesting. I started getting tunnel vision on the RD for the second pairing. If Anaheim retained 50%, could do both.
