It's an option. That was my point because you clearly couldn't think of it. It's okay, now you know. When was the last sign and trade in the NHL?

Lmao what are you talking about? I’m not the person you responded to. I just saw your ridiculous sign and trade proposal (that never happens in the NHL and we don’t even know if it’s legal in the CBA)It's an option. I would agree. Foligno saying he may be back in Columbus are just the words of someone going through a breakup with a long-term partner. Like when you tell someone you've been dating for a long time that you "need a break" and "will revisit the relationship after the break". It's just the softens the blow. He'll be back in Toronto. Especially with Jones leaving Columbus too. Hyman is out.I’ve pretty much accepted the fact that Hyman is gone. I have a sneaking suspicion that the leafs will bring back Foligno on a 2-3 year deal.
I’m also pissed that the cap is a flat cap, I get that COVID was expensive but the league announced that the cap was gonna go up and contracts were negotiated based off thatThe funny part is despite the unexpected flat cap, management doesn't seem to want to adjust their strategy that was based on a larger anticipated budget. You can lead a horse to water...
I wonder where he'll end up going, but it's obvious that the Leafs can't afford him unless he gives a big home town discount.
Oh no I was told it's easy cuz Freddy is leavingI wonder where he'll end up going, but it's obvious that the Leafs can't afford him unless he gives a big home town discount.
this is not true ...everyone on the team is on record saying the hardest working player is Spezza, and then perhaps Tavares.Hyman is a very unique player that Leafs could use more of.
His game which includes 100% effort and compete shift in and shift out, game in and game out, is among the few consistent one can count on with the Leafs.
Nobody works harder than Zach and I sure hope Leafs GM doesn't let him walk because if they're looking for more "killer instinct", then his loss would take the Leafs in the wrong direction.
imagine the Lucic contract without the toughness/physicality and higher averageHyman at $6m is an even worse overpay than Marner at $10.5m
SIMMONS: This is Zach Hyman’s big chance to cash in | Toronto Sun
Zach Hyman was a late bloomer who has beaten all the odds.
He didn’t start showing himself as a player of significance until his third season at the University of Michigan. He played his first NHL game six years after he was drafted. After his first full season, he was so gangly that Auston Matthews asked to have him removed from his line.
And now, just days away from his 29th birthday, he’s a husband and a father and for the first time, an NHL free agent of value, and the interest in him comes from all across the National Hockey League.
He has a choice to make, really: Does he want to stay in Toronto, the city he grew up in, with family this close, with his childhood friends still part of his life, and with the comfort he has earned on a Maple Leafs hockey team he has grown up with?
Or does he want to cash in on this one-time opportunity?
The Maple Leafs can’t afford to pay Hyman what others will pay. They probably won’t offer the same kind of term he could get on the open market, either. And while I never discount what kind of salary cap magic Leafs money man Brandon Pridham might come up with, this seems to be a rather basic decision for the winger.
You may get one chance in your career, at the right time, to make big money. He has scored 28 goals in his past 82 regular-season games and scoring isn’t really what he does. He’s maddening to play against. He’s non-stop. He hits everything and everybody. And then he does it again the next night or the next shift. He is the 11th highest-paid player on the Leafs as he heads to free agency.
This is Zach Hyman’s time and deservedly so.
He’ll get more than $5 million a season, probably in a five-year package. And the Leafs will miss him terribly when he’s gone.
This player is not worth more than $4M. Most teams will take a hard pass. Some of the media appears to work for the agents at times. Its common across different leagues. Ask yourself this: Would Vegas sign Hyman to $5M+? No chance.SIMMONS: This is Zach Hyman’s big chance to cash in | Toronto Sun

Hyman just needs to work harder (on the ice) because he doesnt have the talent that other players do.

Just like the others? He's not taking no discount after the others soaked Dubas. Good player, like his work ethic but stone hands and in my opinion doesn't have the high hockey IQ, smarts. Can be replaced unfortunately much cheaper. With the way Dubas cash strapped this team don't think he's coming back.
It’s not a realistic option in the NHL.... which is why it never happensIt's an option. That was my point because you clearly couldn't think of it. It's okay, now you know.
