He was terrible in the playoffs 2 years in a row.
The same problem 2 years in a rowhis knee hurt he will get better
i think he's had the same problem 5 yrs in a row , lolThe same problem 2 years in a row
So the gm is all about paying a guy for what hes about to do, right?
Anyone see 11 getting better?
Hyman is a good grinder and a solid top 6 power forward but his skill level really is quite low. He isnt able to make plays at the level of our top guys. Replacing him with someone who can keep up and still grind pretty well would be a good move IMO. Dvorak comes to mind.
Although I am open to keeping him but I think he should play with JT and not Matthews.
I think Hyman and Rielly will be sacrifices and I hope this is a blunt message to the top guys that there is a flatcap so they are going to have to pick it up or they are next!A franchise that pays a secondary piece who is close to his 30s a 2-2.5x raise for the same thing while already being tight to the cap is setting itself up for failure. On the other hand, losing a glue guy like Hyman could have a pretty big negative short term impact on the team since there are so few guys who do what he does... so it really comes down to treading water or maybe taking a calculated step back so we can use the cap flexibility to take two steps forwards.

If leafs lose human they are done
By my count, they’ll still have the same amount of humans on the opening night roster. The amount of Dubasites accounts on Internet forums will have decreased significantly though.
Hypothetically if it is $5M, can you find two $2.5M players to replace what he brings you next year and get better? I'm not sure.
Given his injuries and the way he plays, I think we all know the contract could look bad in a few years.
