Terrible managemet by Yzerman. You give the guy one start and send him down after one poor play. Husso for sure didn’t do himself any favours there. Being a goalie is about confidence. How on earth do you build your confidence from there. The way he was treated after the season opener is laughable.

True, but he did not play very well 2nd part of last season either.

Confidence is the key, therefore Yzerman chooses to go with 3 goalies which provide solid goaltending

It isn’t just one poor game, but it’s a track record of suckage.

Husso has not been good for over a year.

These guys are professionals and aren’t going to be given perfect shots or limitless shots.

Husso has been not great due to injury and infrequent use… but the Wings aren’t trying to rebuild Ville Husso’s confidence at the expense of everything else. He’s not that good even when he’s right to continue throwing him out there. Particularly when you have Talbot and Lyon who are playing reasonably well

So we gave an AHL level goalie a 3 year deal worth nearly $5 million per season. Another brilliant Steve Yzerman move

Dude, guys get hurt and they lose it. Husso was very good and then he got hurt and couldn't get it back. It happens with goalies. Goalies are quite literally a crap shoot.

When we signed him, he was not an AHL level goalie. This is why teams dread paying goalies when it comes time. They're super important but they're also f***in unpredictable as hell.

Best analogy I can think is goalies are like a fantasy football QB. You either get Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, or Joe Burrow in the first round because you know they were going off for huge yards and TDs or you choose literally everything else and draft Brock Purdy or Sam Darnold in the last round.
