Do we pick up another teams broken dreams and hope we can do better than Dach, Newhook?
Presumably we trust the judgment of Vincent, whom we hired to coach Laval.

If we trade for Jiricek, we'd have direct Intel from his coach last year and it follows a high degree of confidence in his potential (and price paid for that potential)

If we pass, and he's traded for an easily matched offer, you'd have to think the feedback wasn't stellar...

A couple of UFA centres that would fit in nicely....

Vilardi and Rossi

What would you guys offer them this summer? We are going to have a ton of cap space if it goes to 95ish. Grabbing one of these two may pay off huge. Allows us to move Dach down to third line or over to the wing. Personally, I like Vilardi and if he keeps current pace of ~65 points....I'd go somewhere around 7 million for him on a long term contract.

2025-26
Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Laine - Vilardi - Demidov
Newhook - Dach - Gally
Heinemen - Evans - Anderson

If Dach walks the following year as a UFA because he feels slighted or wants more money/responsibility....so be it. We will have Beck, Kapanen and Hage ready by 2026-27 for that third line role.

They’re both RFAs. Wouldn’t trade for or offer sheet either of them.

Benett, Vilardi, Rossi?

Don't you guys remember trades are hard and top 6 centers are not available?

And we have 2C at home.

I saw Lavoie mentioning Olivier in Spanre’s post game show. He’d be a perfect fit for the Habs. Do they wait for him to become a UFA or do they try to land him sooner so they have a better shot at signing him?
I think we have a good chance if he becomes UFA. Hughes is his former agent, he would become a fan favourite, prepare his after career and come
closer to home

Remember how many fans said we didn't need Martin Necas

Who would ever want a 6'3" 200lbs skilled forward?

Friedman saying the salary cap could be as high as 95-97 million next year. That would be huge.

We could probably just keep Gallagher and Anderson instead of buying them out and still have space for a couple improvements.

It's also a matter of roster spots. You keep those, sign some guys and then guys like Beck can't make the team. But it does make it easier to deal Anderson

I'm not sure it's such a good thing.
Habs had already enough cap space. Their problem is finding players to spend it on (in the short term anyway).
It will only help other teams to keep their players.

Neither Vilardi are UFAs. Both are RFAs. Both organizations have a ton of money this summer. They'll match whatever contract these 2 get if someone tries to do what St. Louis did this summer.

No to Dach for Zegras? More like the Ducks say no. Habs do that trade before Anaheim ownership hears about it of it and Verbeek gets fired.
Doubt that very much. Hughes gushes about Dach all the time and he’s coming off a year off. He was arguably the best center before he went down game two the next season.

I don’t even think Zehra’s fits what the Habs are trying to do in adding more size and grit in the lineup. I’d happily swap Newhook plus for a trade.

They probably are.

Unless the Habs get 1st overall, get 11th overall from the Calgary puck and trade up high and then sign 2 of Marner, Rantanen, Shesterkin, or any other high profile free agent they're going to be out of the playoffs until their contracts are up, so no point in trading assets to dispatch them.

They won't sign any one of those 3
