Yeah, that's going on the TV tonight over the 4th meaningless Panthers preseason game. What's the deal with the 6pm **** though? Not exactly a primetime kickoff there for a "night" game.

Because ESPN is showing Ole Miss at Vanderbilt after our game.

I'll be heading to Columbia shortly. I hope it doesn't storm.

Going to my first NCSU game at Carter Finley on Saturday. I had been to another where State (I think) got stopped at the goal line but I was cheering for UNC at the time.

I got dragged into going. Wasn't initially planning on it, but my friend begged me through a text to go with him.

I'm much more excited about the Clemson game, even if they lose. It'll be depressing, sure...but it should be a monster of a game regardless of the result.

Oh, and I'd rather UNC win in the game tonight. My hate of SCAR in football is larger than my hate of UNC. Sorry, Sasha Cares. However, I don't see SCAR losing the game. Let's hope I'm wrong.

Oooh. The Clemson game is gonna be a good one. Just saw that. And sorry, I see Georgia winning that one.

And I'm pretty impartial to the game tonight. I'm excited for the sport to come back but not in a blowout (which I see happening).

That's perfectly respectable. I'm really not sure what to make of it...Georgia has a rebuilding defense but the two-headed Gurley/Marshall monster to deal with along with Murray. Clemson's defense should be stronger this year than last year after more time learning Venables' expectations, but I'm very worried about whether or not our WRs/TEs other than Sammy will be able to prove themselves right away, having lost Nuk and Brandon Ford. If they don't, all Georgia has to do is cover Sammy reasonably well and then we're screwed.

Impressive back to back stops by the D though, have to think they were ready to be off the field, only to have to step back out there.

Decent momentum grabber with the two stop in a row, you've gotta think.

Meh, I didn't think the team looked TOO bad. The drive at the beginning of the second half that ended in a field goal, followed by the 75-yard score made it look a little worse than it really was. I thought the offense looked pretty good, the running game was impressive, and although Clowney had that stomach bug they still did a pretty good job of keeping him contained.

All in all, should've been a closer game, and even then, losing by 17 to the 6th ranked team in the country is better than I expected.

If I may hijack the college football talk for 2 seconds, I gotta ask, where all this hype for the Packers is coming from? I'll concede they might have the best QB in the NFL at the moment, but beyond that, we're talking about a team that two seasons ago, was statistically the worst defensive unit in the league, barely improved on it last year, has a mediocre at best Tight End, two starting receivers that 98% of the population can't name, a rookie RB that showed up to camp fatter than Dustin Byfgulien and that has maybe the worst offensive line in the history of football. So why is it that we are saying that they're championship contenders exactly? Never mind the fact that their most recent "accomplishments" include going 1-3 in the preseason, getting shut out by Arizona and getting bent over by the Chiefs. Don't gimme none of that "It's only pre season" talk either. Seattle went 4-0 (In convincing fashion as well) and a lot of other teams faired quite well also.

Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson are two damn good WRs. Other than that, I agree with most of what you write. However, they're still a 10-6 team solely because of Rodgers.

Not the dominating performance I was quite hoping for but scoring a TD in the first drive? I'll take it.

You are seriously using pre-season as a guage? The Packer's success will and has been due to having one of the "best QBs in the NFL". That QB played only 5 series the whole pre-season and those were without his two top receivers (Nelson and Cobb). Making a judgement on their record in pre-season is a bit ridiculous given that.

That said, no doubt they have a lot of question marks and until proven otherwise, are not in the same league as Seattle and San Fran and other top teams. Most notably the offensive line with the season ending injury to their left tackle, loss of their starting running back for the season, and some key players (Cobb, Nelson and DBacks) battling injuries. Their schedule isn't going to help any having to play non-conference games against San Fran, Wash, Balt, Giants, Steelers and Falcons.

Unless they miraculously gel mid-way through the season (like they did in their superbowl year), I see them struggling this year. A QB can make a huge difference though. Look at the impact Luck had in 1 season in indy (or RGIII in Wash). If Rodgers get's hurt for any length of time though, they probably going to have a very high draft pick the following season.
