Oh look, the Panthers have also fallen off a cliff in their shot and possession numbers the last few games. They've been getting outshot pretty ugly lately, including by the Rags tonight.

Never mind, looks like they've almost caught up in shots.

Any chance Four Eyes is the first coach fired this year?

HIGHLY DOUBT IT, but I think this is a one and done.

So which sorry organization is gonna be the first to run out and hire this almost 30 year veteran of NHL head coaching? Or is he getting close to Alain Vigneault territory of washing out of the league, especially with this one and done?

I agree. I’m definitely not taking the blame off of Mackenzie for that play. I was just saying that Jack lost the puck and he gets a free pass but when the goalie whose job isn’t to control and race for the puck gets blamed then I speak up and defend the goalie. But it’s amazing how many people ignore the mistakes by their favorite players and then the jump on other players. It started the first few games of the season. Blaming Mack for every goal without analyzing and calling out the players that actual are the reason the goal was scored. Call him out for his mistakes 100% but he’s blamed for everything.
Jack has been awesome this last year. Mac has been dog shit. Jack carries the team on its back, Mac always has something (bad goal, bad play, etc.). Pretty simple why people defer to him. He doesn't get to get the benefit of the doubt anymore.

It's absolutely not irrelevant and if that was the case no one would be dunking on Haula every game. As I said, there's no progress with Mac. There's always something.
He’s played some bad games. He’s also played some crest games that gets largely ignored. He was really good. Aside from a bad play where he as a goalie mishandled the puck like every player does every single game when their job is to control the puck and his isn’t. .

Yeah, there's definitely a difference here when people start calling out guys like Hughes and Bratt.

Hughes and Bratt have been REALLY GOOD players the last two or three years, Blackwood has not been. That's the biggest difference.

You can keep saying that but if they get just out of the playoff race it'll still be progress and pretty much aligned with what most people's expectations were when the season started.
Really? So you are good with them not making the playoffs after they run off a 13 game winning streak in their first 16 games? More power to ya👍

This isn’t directed at you, but I hate the ”well if you told us back at the start of the season stuff.“ Expectations change as you get more information and context. The how matters. If you told people they would get off to the start they did and then end up in this situation…no one would be buying it.

I don’t think a collapse is certain, but there are some red flags. You can’t get mad at people for expressing frustration and concern over the team.

They got a point today, but the team is still “bleeding badly.” This is a big week. They need wins, not OT losses. And they need regulation wins over division opponents.
We lost a series of coin flip games for a couple weeks while the finishing dried up and the goalies took a step back. There are no real signs of any type of collapse.

He's been largely injured. That's the biggest indictment on him. Injury prone.

I ain't hating on Blackwood or blaming Blackwood for the tie. I'll blame Lindy for starting him but, at the same time he gave us a chance when we were outplayed. We got point and I'll take it and move on. Went from a semi boring chess match to hair on fire chaos and I enjoyed both besides the end result. No Blackwood isn't nothing special but, his save percentage went up!

Florida super overreacted after getting "goalied" out of the playoffs by the best playoff team since the Islanders dynasty. Now they are just ordinary with a horrendous contract with Bob.

It doesn’t matter if Jack was in page for besting Gretzkys records. You still hold THAT player accountable when THEY make the mistake that leads to a goalie having to chase out of position by racing out to WIN Possession of the puck and then pass across the open net. Doesn’t matter he is accountable. Mackenzie is accountable for many other loses but that doesn’t mean that we just blame him for this one cuz he had bad games.

He's mostly played some bad games and made some bad plays. The "goalie doesn't handle pucks" thing needs to stop though. It's as easy of a play as it gets. It's not a challenging play. Goalies handle pucks multiple times a game and just giving the puck in that fashion doesn't happen often.

Honestly, yeah. My expectations haven't really changed since the start of the year. We're still progressing, still a young team and we're playing competitive hockey most nights (pretty much every night except a few games this year). I couldn't say that about last year's team.

You're a goalie. Only explanation for this sort of justification. Almost every goal involves something the opponent is trying to do. Blackwood had a very basic play to make and he blew it. It's something that's bound to happen to a goalie, except that he also did something similar last season.

Honestly, the last few games have been significantly better all around, and if it wasn't for taking lots and lots of penalties, i would say we might be out of this funk and ready to get back to dominating.

I'll agree with the 'it's always something' with Blackwood sentiment. I'll be relieved when he's gone and Severson is gone. I know he played 30 minutes last game, but one good game doesn't make him good. They are both disruptors just like Subban and Smith and much of our forwards last year.

We desperately need Rango, Mercer or Wood to step up. I have no faith in Tatar or Haula as top six guys and it's unfair to expect Zetterlund or Thompson or Holtz tbh.

Getting Palat back should be big, but we are still a couple players away.

The D corps is seven deep nails when Marino gets back.

I agree and it’s been tough for anyone that has played high level of hockey. Coming back from injuries without issues can be hard for players. Especially Goalies.
Goalie are like pitchers and QBs. It's a rhythm based position. He keeps derailing any progress with the injuries.

Not a goalie. Just someone who has played at the highest level of hockey for almost thirty years.
How often do goalies have to skate and out and race for the puck and make a pass while on their knees? This isn’t a regular occurrence.
And that isn’t the point. I’m not saying he didn’t f*** up. I’m saying that the amount of anger towards Mack on that play while ignoring the fact that Jack literally got it to that point and it was ignored
