Can we talk about how bad the announcing was last night?

Serious, what the f***. The first half of the third period was spent lamenting about the Hurricanes injuries. The final 10 minutes was focused entirely on Tampa.

Other than a few comments on Lindgren blocking a shot, they didn’t compliment the Rangers a single time. They just rambled on about how difficult Tampa Bay is going to be. How is that acceptable?

The broadcast of Steve McDonough is beyond awful. How does that wannabe Caniac get the opportunity to call that series. I hope to not hear from him again, friends of mine the furthest from being Ranger fans were texting me about how awful that guy was.

I stand by my opinion that Ferraro, however, is top notch and no one will convince me otherwise. There was a time or two last night I could seriously tell Ferraro was biting his tongue on his response to McDonough's outlandish comments, but it's his job to respond and add additional commentary to the main broadcaster. There was one point in particular where Steve got into a big brain moment of a hot take and there was a notable pause and then Ray finally started his reply with "well..."

I said the same things basically. That Carolina was all system and no substance. If you beat their system and survive their picks and interferences, they have nothing else other than Aho. Smoke and mirrors. Tip of the hat for clogging up the ice and dragging it out to 7 games. Rangers were always the better team and they proved it, with an exclamation point spanking in game 7.

The real test starts Tuesdsy night.

The series went 7 because RBA was able to use his clear matchup advantage at home. The tide was going to turn at some point in the Rangers favor in Raleigh, especially when Carolina stole game 1 with a funny bounce in OT.

Carolina got absolutely waxed in the 3 games at MSG. Dont care what the shot totals say after the fact, they flat out didnt show up in games 3, 4 or 6, and that's after they poked the bear after Game 3. Rangers put them in their place.

The broadcast is terrible when it comes to the ability of Sean McDonaugh. Just not a fan of his PBP. I miss NBC big time, they always had a competent guy there even though I don't love Kenny Albert as much as most of you.

When it comes to bias though, I just read the Canes thread and they think the same about them so we might be wrong there

McDonough is terrible at hockey PBP. Thats my only real gripe with ESPN. Ferraro does seem to have some sour grapes against the Rangers after getting traded by them 20 years ago (get over it Ray), but generally he's a very solid and fair analyst. Im begging for ESPN to put Wischusen on as their #1 guy.

You saw this in the home games, and yesterday the Ranger PP took them out early. The Trouba hit was brilliant.
Seeing Jarvis struggle to stand and fall off the bench... Carolina was being dismantled. Raanta getting injured...
They were getting stretched and they fell apart.

That was one of best games i've ever watched as a NYR fan.

random but I loved the Canes music guy lol

hearing Ying Yang Twins, Yung Joc, and Lil Jon was like a really fun throwback to middle school dances lmaoooo

The Rangers now have ripped apart 2 teams physically in these series. The Penguins were being held together by duct tape by the end of that series. After years of watching Henrik carry the injured husk of the team deep into the playoffs, its nice to see us being the aggressor.

Well… the sentence you bolded said coming into the playoffs, so those would have been pretty tough things to factor. It was because Carolina played a faster, more complete looking game, had a better record and seemed like a tougher matchup than Tampa. If anything, the people shitting their pants over Tampa are the ones who are being effected by recent outcomes. Based on Tampa’s regular season and no Goodrow/Coleman/Gourde, if they had played Florida first and then Toronto for seven games in the second round, people would be licking their chops to play them after getting past the Canes.

Yeah going into the playoffs I was also more worried about Carolina.

I don't miss him. Guy got his big paycheck and checked out in quite the remarkable fashion.

He did, but he came back and literally did everything that was asked of him after that. Top pair, 3rd pair, extra, 4th line forward because the organization was more worried about not offending Staal, etc.

I'd take him back at league minimum as a 7th D in a second.

How hasn't this been plastered all over the place. Had to make the video and gif myself

what Staal stuff? What did I miss?

By far Drury's biggest blemish. Nemeth for 3 years and 3x the AAV of Smith.... but he made up for it in spades with all of his other moves

This is why I never got the Brendan Smith love. We killed Staal & Girardi for their contracts, and they actually positively contributed to the team over their NYR careers. Smith got paid and decided he could rest on his laurels like the rest of the frat boys that permeated the team when the Letter went out. I mean the guy got waived 3 months into a 4 year deal and then spent the rest of the seasons being a malcontent and getting into practice fights with his teammates. I commend him for answering the bell against Wilson, but too little too late.

They literally had him on the 4th line because they didn't have the balls to scratch Staal.

He went from 4th line forward to 2nd pair defenseman after Skjei got traded.

oh. I thought you meant something else.

There had to be something more happening behind the scenes. I remember vaguely B.Smith saying something along the lines that 'It'll come out eventually with what happened in the locker room after the Wilson incident'

Ah, well that was unrelated to Staal as he was long gone by then (and FAR from a problem in the locker room, that was the one place he was still good.)
