I can hear Ferraro's (or Olczyk's, or Keith Jone's) ecstasy now
Kakko should be concerned about being walked off the team.Shesty wants a Game 7 shutout
Kakko want's a walk off series winner.
I think a lot of that has to do with the Carolina team playing with the lead. But you’re not wrong. The ranger had no legs tonight.. Reeves has been invisible the last couple of games.. the 4th looks horrible.. hell even Kreider look slow..![]()
Basically…the team that gets the first goal has a huge advantage. Both teams are playing terrific defense with the lead.Well we still live to play another game
Wasn't the smartest game game I have seen them play.
Got beat to every puck and a few guys were invisible. You can’t score if you don’t shoot.
They need to put everything to the net. Raanta can be had. Shoot the f’ puck. Stop the fancy passing.
Agree big time on Laf. He’s a gamer. Also agree that Kakko’s condition and a few others - like #10 - are not good enough. I won’t bury anyone because there have been injuries, and Kakk for one, is young and still developing. But yeah, a championship team needs to be more spry. That’s huge.I thought Fox was the worst player on the ice by a lot. Just laboring and non Chalant all game. Miserable performance
Shesterkin can’t stop a breakaway all of a sudden. 4 goals on 7 breakaways and 2 of the 3 “misses” hit the post. That is awful just awful. Guys are picking his five hole east right now. This guy was lights out on breakaways all year. The best in the league. He’s made one save? I didn’t like his game at all. Looked like he was fighting it all night. He has to outright steal a game at some point and it’s probably going to have to be game 7 on the road.
Mika was tremendous but you need secondary scoring on the road when your top line is being shut down. Panarin was a liability again. I actually thought Strome played his best game of the playoffs. Panarin is doing absolutely nothing out there at 5 on 5.
Time for the Vatrano experiment to end. He should be on the third line. Laf to the top line.
And I’ll tell u what if we advance and Goodrow is healthy. Kakko should be the first guy sent to the press box. He’s not in shape and has done nothing in this series. He’s the least useful player out there right now bottom line
I disagree. GG is throwing the team under the bus for his own mistakes. The basic approach at trying to skate with the Canes was dumb as hell and that's on him. The previous games at the Canes where we hung with them we defend the neutral zone and our own blueline much better and made it hard for them to skate through the neutral zone with speed and puck control, which they LOVE. Yesterday the doors were wide open and the team could hang with the Canes, barely and with luck, for the first 20 mins after that it was game over. It didn't help that GG's "fixes" were awful. This one is 100% on GG for buying into the hype after the home win and wanting to skate with the Canes. Dumb. This is a problem. Just like everyone one of us before the game Gallant knew the Hurricanes would come out fast and told his guys to be up and ready for it. There’s literally nothing else they should have been but focused and prepared. Instead we get a team that simply wasn’t competitive. The line about reaching with their sticks instead of finishing their body checks - we’ve called that out on these boards how many times? Big bodies like Kreider doing impotent fly-bys? Call him out GG. Maybe he’ll actually produce some testosterone before the next game. He’s a grown up.
That shit is inexcusable. The fact that this team is capable of coming out and playing such milk toast hockey in a game like this is damning of the personnel in the room. Chris Kreider hasn’t laid somebody out all playoffs. His leadership apparently only extends to looking really intense after he gets one of his 40 tap-ins from 6” away from the goal line. It’s not just Chris, but we already know Panarin’s primma dona ass isn’t engaging physically and his manlet homeboy Strome is going to follow suit. What is the excuse for this team’s lack of mental fortitude? The kids can be tired out from playing the most hockey of their careers. What’s Chris Kreider’s excuse for setting the leadership example of an overweight dog lazing in the sun? And why the f*** does “no speak English” #10 wear a letter? Excited patty cake with Strome every time they pad their stats without playing an ounce of fundamentally sound hockey isn’t “leadership”. We need to have SIX As so that Panarin and his bff can be included? Is that in his 12M contract somewhere?
The whole team was a disappointment. The lack of meaningful contribution from Kakko and Chytil at the ends of year 3 and 4 is frustrating. Guys like Rooney and Reaves bring nothing. But Panarin, Kreider and Strome are far and away the worst offenders all playoffs. Trouba is right there with absolute brain deadness, but at least the giant moron plays pretty hard. The other three should be publicly flogged for laziness. Trouba should be flogged for forgetting he isn’t Bobby Orr, again. But the thing is, even with egregious errors from Trouba, and really no progress from the kids - save some good intensity from Laf - and non factor players like Reaves and Rooney having to play for guys like Goodrow and Blais, the trio of Panarin, Kreider and Strome are the ones who are killing us by being a collective 23M ghost.
Kreider is massively guilty, especially as our defacto leader, but at least is a homegrown guy who sometimes shows some fire, even if he forgot to do so the entire playoffs. Panarin, despite the point totals, and dweebus Strome don’t have the history in blue that Kreider does and so it really takes very little to want to see them both banished into the void after these playoffs conclude.
I think a lot of that has to do with the Carolina team playing with the lead. But you’re not wrong.
Basically…the team that gets the first goal has a huge advantage. Both teams are playing terrific defense with the lead.
I'm always a glass 3/4 full guy but I don't know that we have the top line to get us to a cup this season. We have a lot of really good pieces but like Carolina we just don't have that get on my back and lets go first line. What this playoffs has shown is that if Shesterkin is on his game, the Rangers are more than likely to win. However, if he lets in a soft one or is off as he has been at times this playoffs then the Rangers just don't have the firepower to come from behind. Really our cup hopes this year are on him.
It is absolutely INSANE to scratch a player like Artemi Panarin. But somehow I agree 100%. That's how bad he is. He is clearly a net negative to the team right now. If you told me I'd be saying this as we ended the regular season, I would not believe it. Truly horrid, very clearly no one is sending him a message that careless, selfish turnovers with not be tolerated.I didn't want to post in anger last night, so I slept on it, but I'm still angry at the way we played.
Win game 6 at home, then worry about game 7. We need to show some fight after last night's poor performance and Panarin needs to wake up. This entire series has come down to the Mika line vs the Staal line. Someone else needs to step up and the 2nd highest paid player in the league is the prime suspect. If we win game 6 and he doesn't play well, I would have no issue with scratching him for game 7. He has been that bad. Give me someone who can forecheck a bit and not constantly turn the puck over. At least then maybe we'll play a bit more in their end of the ice.
Panarin isn't the only culprit here. There are lot of players who need to be better, particularly on the road, but at least some of them have showed up at times. Panarin has been MIA this entire series. 2 points in 5 games, both on the PP. He scored more against Pittsburgh, but even then, his performance left me wanting more. I hope something is wrong with him, because if this is what we can expect from him in the playoffs going forward, that contract isn't going to age well, no matter how many points he puts up in the regular season.
I think Fox needs a Barb Underhill fix this summer. The team is dead. Did you see how Adam Fox was skating?
We were not conditioned for this.
Maybe the energy of the Home Crowd can propel them.... and the urgency of a game 7. Otherwise we're dead in the water imo
He’s so obviously injured. He can barely skate.Usually I'm more analytical in the morning but I'm fed up with Artemi Panarin and his complete lack of willingness to play hockey at this point.
He's not going anywhere, but should be considered a secondary piece in the playoffs until he proves otherwise.
Not even Patrick Kane sticks so doggedly and incessantly to perimeter hockey in the playoffs.
The fault of GG took place all season. He's been way too soft on them. We are out of shape compared to Carolina. We literally cannot compete because of it. Fatigue is real and it's playing a major role. We've gone from playing 40-50 games and we're now approaching 100. Adam Fox's workload jumped dramatically... 55 games vs 90 games. There's a major difference there.I disagree. This one is 100% on GG for buying into the hype after the home win and wanting to skate with the Canes. Dumb.
We all know half the team is struggling physically (including key players like Panarin and Fox) and GG still wants a high tempo open end to end game. Dumb.
He needs to take training more serious especially when he's getting the ice time he's getting.I think Fox needs a Barb Underhill fix this summer.
He said something like “I’ve never been on a team that works this hard”. Which yea...he had just been a part of a college hockey team for 2 yearsI could be wrong but for some reason I think I remember hearing a quote from Fast after signing in Carolina akin to they expect one guy to do all the dirty work or something along those lines, anyone else remember that?
Be careful I was yelled at for pointing this out.I thought Fox was the worst player on the ice by a lot. Just laboring and non Chalant all game. Miserable performance

My bad, I edited my post to be more clear, I know the quote you’re referring to which was a pretty damning indictment in itself coming from a guy many considered the best teammate but I think I remember him expanding on it a bit and saying something like we expected one guy to do all the hard work instead of everyone doing it and if so he sure looks right about that oneOf all the people to be bitching about we’re complaining about our 2nd leading scorer who happens to be a dman?
Fox, Igor, and Zib should be exempt from any blame for these playoffs. They’re our big 3 guys who are actually showing up.
He said something like “I’ve never been on a team that works this hard”. Which yea...he had just been a part of a college hockey team for 2 years
