They need a grinder on that line who can win puck battles and create space in the middle of the ice by crashing the net and taking defenseman with him. Unfortunately there's really no one who can fill that role. Otherwise it's a pure rush line and the Rangers can not do anything off the rush against this team except the occasional push the puck past a pinching D and it turns into a 2 or 3 on 1.

Yes, I agree. Although that has been attempted with both Hunt *and* Goodrow and that was minimally successful. I hate to pile on Strome, he's been a good Ranger overall, but if Panarin stays the way he has evolved into, then it's a bruising and skilled center that's needed, as others have pointed out.

Even now I'm frustrated with now much Lafreniere is playing.

The kid line was one of our most effective and were still firmly the third line. Laf was effective at RW and Copp can play center, so we have no shortage of options.

At this point we're watching Lafreniere play less so we can watch Strome jerk off more.

They just have to try with Laf and Kakko next year for an extended time in the top, I think they will, more because they really won’t have many options, but let them make mistakes, they are so young, there is going to be bad nights, but when the options are like Barclay Goodrow and Dryden Hunt, I would rather deal with those bad nights.

Reevaluate at the trade deadline, there’s always players that cost very little, and you can make upgrades then.

I mean, Jesus Christ, every time I see the Rangers hemmed in their own zone, it's that 4th line 90% of the time. Reaves and Rooney just are not helping this team in any way. Hunt-Brod-Vatrano is speed, speed, and more speed. That line should overwhelm Cole-Smith on the cycle quite well.

Sorry for the thought stream, but this is the kind of game that should absolutely get the lines blown up.

I think the problem with Hunt and Goodrow is that they are LH as crazy as it sounds, well the other problem with Hunt is he's not skilled enough. But I think with the way Panarin plays you need a RH shot at RW who can make those hard rims on the boards to him where he usually stands on the left wall. He needs someone to get those pucks and get them to him. you're right about Strome though, his time here has run it's course.

Vatrano was a complete liability on the top line tongiht. They should be going back to Kreider-Mika-Lafreniere. And it obviously wont happen at this point in the season, but I'd like to see Panarin-Copp-Motte. Force Pnarin to play a more straight ahead game, rather than playing grab ass with Strome

I hate talking 2 games ahead, but I think Gallant stays with the same lineup because it wins at home but he does something different in Carolina if there's a Game 7. Don't know if Blais and/or Goodrow can get back by then but maybe Brodz and Hunt.

Panarin was an even strength juggernaut when he had Fast on his line in 2019, hence why I would like to see Motte re-signed. He has missed that forechecking "do the little things" component post-covid

That was years ago. I don't think it's the third wheel, it's Panarin himself that doesn't look right.
