Watching games like that is why is was always laughable to me that some would entertain the idea of moving Roslovic at the TD. He and Connor were part of the catalysts last night, and Roslovic is getting better by the game. They are not just the future, they are the future and the now.

I agree with the premise that MP isn't needed with Scheif and Wheels. I also really liked MP - Little - Roslovic. As crazy as it sounds, I wouldn't mind seeing Laine - Petan - Ehlers (although I would be nervous defensively). I don't think you can sugarcoat the fact that Laine is not playing to his potential. Sluggish is the word that comes to mind. Slow feet, and he's handling the puck terribly IMO. Sloppy. I don't have any concerns about him other than the fact that he (and the team) need to find a way to get him going. Spending some time out of the top 6 (while the top 6 is playing well) isn't the worst thing in the world for him.

Morrissey gets the unsung hero award from me. Steady play, really wished that shot went in for him. Myers can't handle the responsibilities of the top pair with Trouba out IMO. We've survived, but losing Trouba because we have Myers and Buff really shouldn't be looked at in any other way but a loss IMO.

I want to see Perreault Little Roslo stay together. Only issue is Maurce willing to have 1 or both of Laine or Ehlers stay on 3rd line. Next issue is does that make the 3rd line now a liability.
Try "Shwheelers" line again then. Laine on 3rd with Copper and drop kid Connor down to 4th. But yes- Little Roslo MP needs at least another game.

I don't know he pulled some pretty impressive strings tonight. Putting MP-Little-Ros together worked pretty well.
I'm not going to get an a Maurice rant because he's done so much better lately. But man, you put Ehlers-Little-Laine together again, and you deserve all the criticism that's coming your way!

Yeah the concert is a reasonable explanation for the situation. It was nuts how guys were blowing tires all game long. However, while I assumed it had to be the ice it was weird how it seemed to be mostly only Jets who were falling.

Hard to believe they couldn't get the ice back into game shape given the improved ambient conditions provided by the no re-entry policy. :sarcasm:

Wasn't Perreault most effective on the fourth line, with Hendricks and Tanev? I really liked him there because he completely changed the purpose and dynamic of that line.

I think they should put Connor back at #1 LW again.

No word of a lie, I was just about to comment to my wife just how useless Little had been, and then he waltzed in and scored. I held my peace.

Laine is having a real tough time defensively this year, Ehlers started out badly defensively but has gotten better over the season (with a few glaring exceptions). I wonder if Ehlers-Copp-Laine could work, I think Copp is close to Little's level defensively & maybe a left hand centre would work better with those two.

Roslovic is looking really good! I had hoped to see him develop into Little-Lite but he seems to have some of that Scheifele drive that make me think he could develop into Scheifele-Lite!

I would in no way trade Roslovic or Connor right now. Guys are giving it there all and without them I shudder to think were we would be. If I had to choose guys that could be moved I would move Dano,Petan,Appleton and Armia in that order. Only if the player was worth it.

I'm always amazed at the weird biases here.

Connor and Roslovic sure look awesome when playing with the best players in the league!
Petan is a bust, he can't score with Thorburn and Peluso! Yeah, so what if he looks excellent with Wheeler & Scheif, he needs to prove he can play with those guys.

Petan puts up .24 ppg playing with beer league players, Roslovic gets 1st Unit pp time and has 5 points in 15 games and he's an all-star.

The talent evaluation around here is highly suspect.

I don't think there is bias. Petan offensively can play with those guys. Defensively I think he is still lacking

Connor in my mind has proven himself whether he is with top players or not.
Roslovic is a difference maker. Last night he was a difference maker.

Sorry Petan isn't at those guys level and he has value as a trade chip. I think he could make it somewhere. But those 2 guys have passed him on the depth chart

The problem right now is that Laine and Ehlers are not really contributing 5 on 5, so where do you play them and with who?
Ehlers has been contributing and driving the play for most of the season. I don't think he becomes a 4th liner with 2-3 lesser games.

Laine is in a bit of a lull, but I think he'll pick it up. Like many really young players he struggles with consistency in an 82 game season. But I think he'll be a force in the playoffs. I think he has another gear or two to give.

I think Laine is just in a bit of a lull. It's a long season and young players often are inconsistent in their intensity. I have a feeling that he will crank it up in the playoffs. He's a special talent and when he's playing at his peak, he can be a force.

In the off-season, he needs to work on speed and endurance, instead of the bulking up he did last off-season. He's the third great young player that seemed to make the mistake of bulking up too early, and losing some quickness (remember Morrissey and Ehlers did the same thing).

I agree. Connor has played well and produced with a variety of line-mates, not just Scheif-Wheeler.

Roslovic is a dynamic player. He makes every line better, sort of like Perreault. I think he projects to be a bigger, faster Perreault, with a better shot. He is a dandy.

With Vesalainen coming, and Spacek showing good potential (I think the Jets' management really like Spacek as a C prospect), I think Petan is going to be better off finding a role on another team.

Having said that, Petan has been much better during this stint than I've seen him in the past. He really looks like an NHLer now.

i was a huge proponent of Petan.
but yeah, i'd trade him if the deal is right. I still think he's gonna be a good NHL player, but I don't know if there is room for him in the Jets going forward.

I really would like TSN to do a half hour post game show , although i come to HF Jets to hear and see all the important stuff anyway . I would like to see how Lowry , Laine and Ehlers would play together . And Trots is a sucky poo poo  One of his player makes a dirt-cheap hit and that's ok , but wants Buff to get 2 and a 5 , give me a break .

I think they used to do a post game show in the first couple of seasons.

Now, they just cut to Sports Center.

I am accutley aware. We are not the same team on home ice without Adam. The definition of a valuable role player.

I will add Jacob Trouba to the list as well. I realize he got off to what appeared to be a rougher start this season but was really rounding into form over the last 15 games again when he went down. Mostly in his absense I think we can see how tough it is to look ok being on the top pair. It can be a brutal role and “eating” those minutes that he and Adam do on home ice is pretty critical.

Which is why it's incredibly important for Trouba to be re-signed long term in the off-season. Top pairing defenders don't grow on trees, and Buff/Myers are _not_ first pairing defenders; Myers needs sheltering, and Buff is getting too old for it now. Trouba is in that right age and is an incredible defender. That should be priority #1 this off season. Hopefully Trouba likes that the Jets are winning games and are likely making the playoffs this year.

The thing is, he has regressed 5v5. The numbers show it, the eye-test shows it. He has made up for a lot of it by being lights out on the PP though.

I just expected him to take a step forward, not backward this season. That being said, he's still a fantastic goal-scorer, I just think he can be more than that.

See I don't think he's regressed there at all. His possesson numbers are better this season and that is with spending 16 games on Wheelers line when he was a C (Wheeler was a possesson black hole in that role).

Laine is also generating more shots per hour this year. I have seen significant improvement in his play in his own end. He is much improved with his reads and tracking back to give outlet options. He is also much improved with his transition play both through the NZ and out of his end. He really has one major deficiency in his end and that is winning contested puck battles. People here have short memories all of the same criticisms where used against Scheifele when he was younger.

His scoring at ES is down but his scoring last year was largely inflated by that time period that he was with Scheifele and the pair scored well over the 3 p/60 rate. I think he's doing just fine at ES this year given his age.

Yes, they did post-game when it was the added cost (at least from MTS) TSN Jets channel. When they moved to regular TSN coverage, it was back to Toronto to hear about the Leafs and Raptors. :thumbd:
