Sens media holding the team accountable

At this point no one including DJ has to still be under the illusion that ole Dimothy Jimothy will be coach next season. Is there really stability when the coach knows he’s a dead man walking before game 20? How does that affect the team over the course of the season. Can we be sure the DeeJ is even trying anymore?

Of course he would be. His future depends on it. If he mailed it in and it was known then no one would hire him for any role in the NHL.

He's just not capable of maximizing output from this roster.

Agreed. And are we sacrificing "stability" now for stability next year? Or Later this year.

The payers have a built in excuse now. If they under perform it can always be dumped on DJ because everyone knows he's done after the year. Let's take these guys out of their comfort zone. No more excuses.

Cash flow still matters. This is the most expensive Senators team ever iced, and with the cap increasing, the pressure to spend will continue to increase.

Andlauer isn't wealthy enough to cover the team's losses while waiting to recoup his investment when he eventually sells the team in 15, 20 or 25 years.

And I doubt that the large group of partners he's taken on will be excited about cash calls to cover any year to year losses.

He needs to sell tickets. He needs to rebuild the brand.

This has been a disastrous start. Not his fault, certainly, but he does need to act quickly, IMO.
In 10 years the average NHL franchise value has increased 250%. Even a 150% increase over the next decade puts the Senators value at 2.4B USD. Also how much debt is the club currently carrying ?

Ya, steady as she goes, everything is just fine. We just need to leap frog almost the entire Eastern Conference. There must be some expected stat that shows us there's nothing to worry about as well.
It’s not a great situation to be in. The team playing so poorly is far more concerning than the somewhat misleading standings.

Yes, the Senators have many games at hand. They need a good win streak to capitalize on those games-at-hand. The team hasn't been very consistent so far this year, and with how poorly they played in the last couple of games, obviously the concern intensifies.

he has probably borrowed 400-450 M.. that means ~ 30 M a year in payments

The Eugene was losing a cool 20 M a year from 2018-2022.. No playoffs, low attendance

Do you think old Michael wants to endure 50 M a year in payments?

Turn the ship around, or Michael A will morph into Eugene.. and goodbye salary, goodbye operating expenses.
Even for you this is a ridiculous post.

Andlauer has minority partners that own at least 45% of the team meaning he didn’t pump the 950M in himself. How much of his share was financed is unknown although we know he received 250M from his Habs holdings. It’s likely he financed a portion because that makes much more financial sense that an outright cash purchase. We also don’t know how the partnership is structured but it’s likely that there will not be cash calls.

It's a test.

He and Staios are testing the players. See how they react and who rises to the occasion, and who is a passenger. Who tries to hide in the shadows and slip by.

I'll be willing to bet we see a significant trade long before we get a new coach.

At least, that's the only thing I can think of not to have an interim coach right now (that and no quality names are available or willing to be interim here).
You are bang on IMO. Andlauer and Staios have said the players wanted stability as it had been chaotic. Well they are getting their wish, if things don’t turn around under DJ I also expect player movement before or along with a coaching change.

Creecher

950 M sale.. he owns 55%????

Where numbers like Malhotra 100 M, York 100 M.. and say other 100 M.. not bandied about over the last few months???

that is 300 M.. Leaving Andlauer at 650 M.. He unloaded the Canadians at 250 M.. Have you ever sold a home.. There are fees.. there are agencies that handle sales, bank fees, accountant fees.. a cool 4-5% if not higher.

can you be sure the Canadians do not have debts? if so, was he expected to pony up his 10%?

he may have cleared 225 M

So, 650-225 = 425 M

What do you think? he had 425 M sitting in a bank??? How many guys do?

How do you think large projects are handled? It is called financing..Banks, lending institutions.. Funds, Hedge funds, etc.. all want their money back and with interest.

So, yea.. Michael may have 400-450 M in debt.

Which he assumed.. FYOUS or a Penguins/Tampa/Chicago scenario of TYOUS (Ten years of unprecedented success).. i.e. a shit load of playoff games and a packed arena for 10 plus years.

A playoff game in Toronto is 4-5 M. In Ottawa, it is probably 3-4 M.. Play 4-8 a year for 10 years.. 12-32 M a year. For 10 years, that is 120-320 M.. Lo and Behold, you payed off a large portion of your debt.

It is what the Euge was counting on. But his world collapsed after 2007, because they played less than 30 playoff games the next 15 years.

And a team destined for the playoffs, will pack the place all season.. One that does not, sees a few thousand empty seats and that compounds the problem.

So yes, I believe Michael A has 400-450 M in debt. I believe that is 30 M in yearly payment. and I believe that he will add 20-25 M this year if things continue as they are.

And Old Michael will morph into Eugene real soon.. if FYOUS or TYOUS does not materialize.. And real f***ing quick.

Solid regular season records, his teams play with structure, and he generally gets a lot more from his team than what's on paper. Everything there is pretty much the exact opposite of DJ Smith.

Did he just get fired after an awful start? Yes, but every coach has a shelf life. This was his fourth year as HC (sixth with the organization). That's probably already a longer tenure than the average coach in the modern NHL.

He does seem like the opposite of DJ.

In addition to what you mention, Evason always looks pissed off and seems like the kind of coach who would give some of our lazy inattentive players a swift kick in the ass if they don't come to play.
