The Patrick Roy in Kanata story was bullshit. He was in Quebec City yesterday.

The source of the story about Roy being in Kanata is this guy :

Jason York and others? confirmed he was in town recently just not on that particular day.
I think that’s what they just said on 1200 anyway.

How about Roy as HC and Julien as assistant? Nice 2/3 there.

Yes he may have to wait until the end of the season to hire the head coach he prefers. However, he could name someone as interim head coach with some guidelines on what he wants to coaching staff to do.
yea,,,, but that would suggest that Staios is now; interim GM AND "interim COACH".

And how many “quality Coaches” would accept an interim coaching job knowing that the new GM would more than likely not keep them on?

Don’t think many are sending in their resumes..
If it's an older guy you guarantee him a role after the year (eg. Consiltant) that they can ease into retirement with. If it's a younger guy they will want to prove themselves and will welcome the opportunity.

These are competitive people who want to be working. Interim tag comes with almost no risk.

Seravelli agrees, time for DJ to go lol. Had some interesting points.

DJ is the games coached in Ottawa leader behind only Martin. I did not know that.

I find that interesting. I've been left with this impression most games that they just aren't good at getting to dump ins or winning the battles to take the puck, but it's not exactly something I'd seen numbers outlining the issue. For a team that is so dump in heavy it just seems like it's usually ineffective.
If they're not capable of winning the puck battles, time to try anther entry strategy.

Good to se in stats what the eyes have told us a long time. How about another coach?

Didn't DJ say we were like top 3 in neutral zone steals/recoveries?

I'd be concerned with the dump ins if we weren't scoring goals, but we're one of the top scoring teams in the league right now. Dump ins help us limit odd man rushes against us.
We problably would benefit from dumping a little less and when dumping, chasing alot harder!

I think its time to move on from dj.

But damn that shot of him on the bench while fans chanted to fire him was hard to watch. He felt that

I have been very critical lately but now I call for a 24 hour ceasefire against DJ. He deserves a break and we just beat the leafs!!!

That's how to stand up for your coach, and those players have no quit in them, and need to play like this on regular basis, is there. They stuck together and they proved a point tonight. They want DJ to be the coach!!

Should track some of these thru the games
Board Battles
1. Number of times Sens player is engaged in a board battle with no support to get the puck to
2. Number of times Sens player is outmanned in a board battle
3. Number of times Sens player is on the wrong side of the puck in a board battle
4. Board battle for possession won/lost
Hits
5. Number of times Sens player pass up a hit to take the puck carrier/ player in possession off the puck
6. Number of times Sens player throws a hit but mostly misses the player resulting in taking himself out vs the intended player
7. Number of times Sens player passes up finishing a check
Flybys
8. Number of times the Sens player attempts a one handed stick check on the puck failing to create a turn over
9. Number of times the Sens player choses a flyby over a hit or engaging in a battle for the puck.
Stretching the zone
10. Number of times the Sens player leaves the defensive zone ahead of possession
Zone exits
11. Number of times the Sens player leaves the zone; or remains outside the zone without supporting the play on the boards for a zone exit
Puck Watching
12. Number of times the Sens player in a defensive position is watching the puck behind the net leaving a man open for a dangerous opportunity
I couldn’t possibly have some beers and enjoy he game if I also had to do this type of homework.

I find it interesting to imagine HF Sens breaking into like minded viewing parties for games.

A coach that gets it. Love the way he pronounces Stutzle.
If it doesn’t affect you as a coach or a team, then what’s the point of doing it from a fans perspective?

Giroux's support this week for DJ was pretty strong

During his career, Giroux has played for
Stevens
Laviolette
Berube
Hakstol
Gordon
Vigneault
Yeo
Brunette (in Florida)
DJ Smith

And his career overlapped with Staois for a number of years so they're acquainted with one another. If there was any thoughts about replacing DJ, you'd think Staois would have a chat with Giroux and get his insight.

I think things will need to go a lot further off the rails before DJ is canned.

I think he came forward more to take some heat off Brady, than anything else. And he succeeded in doing that.
