More statistical food for thought;

Below is eastern conference teams ranked using hockey References Simple rating system, somehow... we rank 3rd. The ranking apparently takes into account average goal differential and strength of schedule. What it doesn't take into account from what I can tell is injuries.

Not buying it, but it does fly against the narrative, lol... For what it's worth, it is really highly correlated to goal differential, so think of it like that, adjusted slightly using their own SOS stat, which seems to be another goal differential based metric,

A cursory look at our schedule shows 10 of 11 games have been against teams with playoff aspirations. Philadelphia being the only standout

Boston by comparison has played 5 of 12 against teams without aspirations and that doesn't include Nashville
 
I thought the team showed a lot of resilience last night. The lack of D is so grossly obvious, it's hard to ignore. They basically have a 3rd pair they can barely play, and the other two pairings are hurt by JBD and Hamonic playing too many minutes.

Another must win tonight, but if they can string a few together and get bodies back, who knows where it goes. They looked like a team with some confidence last night for the first time in a little while.

So, as an aside, I noticed one extremely powerful predictor of whether a team will have a really low Strength of Schedule score or not in that list is whether or not you've played SJ this year...
