I actually said Nylander was better than Marner years ago. I'm still right.
Unfortunately nylanders never been better than MarnerI actually said Nylander was better than Marner years ago. I'm still right.
Is there an 11 million dollar player in the history of the sport (that’s not a goalie) that didn’t score a PP goal all year? When was his last PP goal? They are just mad. Even with this playoffs, no one should ever be convinced that nylander > Marner. Nylanders ceiling is probably like 80-85 points. Marners floor is looking like it’s 75-80 points. For those situations to occur, our team would need to be 1st in goal scoring or bottom 5 respectively
Playoff totals also favour Marner. All Marner needs to do is sort out his playoffs. He just doesn’t perform as an 11m player in the playoffs. 0 goals can’t happen in 18 games, those delay of game penalties need to be sorted out. He needs to build off this last regular season and continue that into the playoffs
To be fair he was on pace for 30 this year without any power play goals. I doubt his power play goals remains that way for much of next year as we shouldn’t start off with a godawful power play. He was apart of it, but so was Matthews, tavares, nylander, rielly, Thornton and others. He was fine for the season, 4th in points, 3rd in assists. He will get more pp and less EV points next year. He just needs to sort out his playoffs. And I’ve said it before that that solution might not be here, which would suck but it could be a reality as soon as the end of next year depending on our post season outcomeIs there an 11 million dollar player in the history of the sport (that’s not a goalie) that didn’t score a PP goal all year? Playoffs?
You don’t pay franchise for a winger who can’t score 30 goals at least. At least.
Let's see how many he gets next year, not playing against the Sens, Canucks, Flames, etc. 8 times per year and againt the American teams. They again who cares if he gets 50 and extends his playoff scoring drought. To be fair he was on pace for 30 this year without any power play goals. That’s what I’m more concerned with. I couldn’t care less if he puts up 85 points or 110 points. Come playoff time, if Marner gives us respectable numbers for an 11m dollar and wins a few rounds, I’ll be more than fine with that. Personally, I think playing our 11m dollar men separately is something we should try and play nylander with one of them as well. This is so trueIs there an 11 million dollar player in the history of the sport (that’s not a goalie) that didn’t score a PP goal all year? When was his last PP goal?

Love these linesThat’s what I’m more concerned with. I couldn’t care less if he puts up 85 points or 110 points. Personally, I think playing our 11m dollar men separately is something we should try and play nylander with one of them as well. So for example:
UFA - 34 - 88
89- 91 - 12
65 - UFA - 16
24 - 77 - 19
with these lines, we got our star line with Matthews and nylander. Tavares has speed on his wing with Robertson and Galchenyuk still has decent skill, you get Robertson to learn to cycle whilst playing with Tavares and you try and make Tavares a playmaker, hopefully galch can be signed and continue to play like this year and also get some pp2 time. Marner gets to feist and hound on 3rd lines across the league ala Kessel. I just want keefe to try and put our players in different situations to succeed. If something doesn’t work, you gotta change it
Ya.This place will be a shit show next year against Nylander if Keefe separates Marner and Matthews.
The same people who say there is no difference between Marner and Nylander will be claiming that everyone is picking on Nylander after Matthews production justifiably drops and Nylander fails at hitting elite points.
I already feel sorry for him because he has the skill that the Leafs need but putting the bar of his value up at Marners, will set him up to fail.
There are only a few players in the world that can fill those shoes.
Had the most goals but the underlying metrics didnt look good beyond a 25% shooting percentage.Ya.
Well.
Marner is a dog when it counts.
Willy was our best player these playoffs.
There is that.
When is training camp? 2 months.... lolThis is going to be a long off-season isn't it?
Marner had 9 hits in the playoffs and Nylander had 5. Marner played net and made a save last year with out goalie equipment.Run away from what? Nylander hit and went to the dirty areas in the playoffs. Find a new narrative
I guess brushing up against another player accidentally qualifies as a hit.Marner had 9 hits in the playoffs and Nylander had 5. Marner played net and made a save last year with out goalie equipment.
Willy was just left off Sweden's initial roster for the 2022 Olympics. But fear not, they invited Jesper Fast, Calle Jarnkrok, and Carl Hagelin.
FLASHBACK 2019
William Nylander completely dominated the IIHF World Championships, that much is clear just from stats and facts alone. In only eight games played for the Swedish National Team, Nylander earned the tournament leads in points (18), assists (13), face-offs (77.73%), and plus-minus (+16). He broke the all-time record for most points a Swedish player has earned in a single World Championships, surpassing Nils Nilsson’s 17 point record. Earning two Player of the Game awards, Nylander was also one of the three forwards named to the 2019 Worlds All-Star Team.
He also had 18 fly-bysI guess brushing up against another player accidentally qualifies as a hit.
Do goals next
I would take a player that gets the job done no matter what the underlying stats say over a player with some good underlying stats that cannot get the job done…….3 years in a row. Kinda points out how little value underlying stats really haveHad the most goals but the underlying metrics didnt look good beyond a 25% shooting percentage.
Who wouldn't?I would take Kuch and Point instead of Marner and Willie.
Did he reject that trade or something? Source?Dubas………
