Russia: Ovechkin (Marchand)
Sweden: Karlsson (Burns), Hedman (J-Bo), OEL (Muzzin)
NA: Gaudreau (Perry)
USA: Kane (Giroux)

That's it. McDavid should but wouldn't, IMO.

Not sure who people think Kopitar is replacing.

Kopitar would easily replace Ryan O'Reilly

Ovechkin - Crosby - Bergeron
Tavares - Getzlaf - Kane
Benn - Toews - Stamkos
Marchand - Kopitar - Perry
Thornton

Keith - Weber
Pietrangelo - Doughty
Hedman - Karlsson
Burns/OEL

Price
Lundqvist
Schneider/Quick

A few would make it right now but if team Canada was 100% healthy i think very few could get it.

Carter - Crosby - Bergeron
Benn - Segiun - Getzlaf
Tavares - Toews - Kane
Couture - Kopitar - Pavelski

Kieth Doughty
Vlasic Karlsson
Hedman Weber

Price

That would be my guess if Babcock got to pick anyone he wanted in the world.

team canada dont give a **** about that

uhh having a natural winger in Tarasenko is much better than putting centers like Stamkos, Duchene, Thornton on the wings

no doubt he makes it over them. Meanwhile someone like Kuznetsov has no chance, being a center competing against Crosby, Kopitar, Bergeron (slides back to C) etc

if Canada cared about wanted wingers they would not have brought 11 centers.

Tarasenko does not fit our system so he would not be invited to play for us.

Ovechkin and Malkin from Russia, for sure

Karlsson and Lundqvist (3rd goalie though, as Price starts) from Sweden, for sure
Hedman, very strong maybe. OEL, nope.

Mcdavid, for sure (especially after Canada left Crosby off in 2006, and lost).
Patrick Kane, for sure

no one else.

Maybe 1-2 more forwards make it, but if they do they do as as 4th line forwards. I guess Pavelski, or Gaudreau, Kopitar or a couple of others above Duchesne or Thornton isn't out of the question, but i could see it go 50/50.

Both Ovechkin and Malkin would make Team Canada. 100% certainty, no questions asked.

I do like your defense (well, i dont *like* it as I think Subban belongs, but I agree that's what Canada would pick).

Have you been introduced to the heavily bearded man on Team Canada's blueline yet?

The one who scored 27 goals last year? yes. No way Babcock has more than one one-dimensional offensive D men on the right side. Burns fits the team Canada model much better than EK. He is their to play the point on PP take offensive zone draws with the top line in offensive chances. That role will not be taking defensive zone starts where it can be helped and he does not want a puck rushing d-man who will make more turnovers. Burns is safer than EK with similar offense- more goals. Babcock takes him over EK easily. Hedman he takes in a heartbeat

Who Would Ovechkin and Malkin play instead of?

For Ovi i guess you could have him play with Crosby and move Carter into Pavelski/Couture spot but where would Malkin fit?

Canada is focused on good defensive players so Malkin and Ovechkin cant both be taking a defensive player off.

Lol Canada has plenty of great natural wingers that didn't make it (Stone, Hall, Toffoli, to name a few). Clearly, having Stamkos/Duchene/Thornton/etc on the wings doesn't matter to Hockey Canada.

Tarasenko is a great player, but he wouldn't make it.

I think Suter would make it over Muzzin and I think Kane would definitely make it. Parise has a real shot as all, as do Patches and Wheeler, simply due to being natural wingers. I think Parise would have tremendous chemistry with Crosby as well.

:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Patches and Wheeler weren't even good enough to play on USA, let alone make a team like Canada.

Parise is even a bigger joke, guy hasn't done **** since 2010.

Not many..

Mcdavid
Kopitar
Hedman
Karlsson
Kane

Ovechkin... maybe, Malkin maybe... their lows are so low though

Ryan Suter would make Canada over Bouwmeester, but not over Hedman or Karlsson.

Jeff Carter playing a position he never played and on the 1st line over Marchand, who has been very good there. Makes sense lol.

I don't see the three swedes making it "collectively"... if that makes any sense. But they'd make it individually.

In other words : I don't think OEL makes it if Karlsson and Hedman make it as well. But if Karlsson and Hedman don't exist, OEL makes it.

The interesting question, however, is which of Hedman or Karlsson is taken first.
Based solely on the last Olympics, Karlsson.

Here's my all star team (which is basically the question being asked)

Benn Crosby Bergeron
Kane Kopitar Ovechkin
Tarasenko Toews Getzlaf
McDavid Thorton Duchene

O.E.L. Doughty
Keith Karlsson
Hedman Weber

Price

Holy ****

I thought Carter plays all forward positions? and those lines are hardly 1, 2, 3, and 4. They will be played equally so it about putting people together.

Not really. What is being asked is what players are added to team Canada and their system. The idea is we are still looking to play a defensively safe game. no way on earth would they leave Vlasic off if they are playing that style. We also would not want that many one way wingers.

Don't think McDavid would of made Canada if he was eligible this world cup. Way too green. If you remember, Crosby didnt make the team either when he was 18.

And what so special about Toews? 58 points last season. duchene had 59 points. 44 year old jagr did 66 points.
