Dubas can only put together the best team that he can and at some point its up to the players to get the job done on the ice. Even if he were somehow able to miraculously get McDavid and Crosby on the Leafs, if they can't come through on the ice in the playoffs when it matters most, that's on the players and not the GM who brought them in.

If Dubas were making a number of bad moves then I'd agree that change would be necessary, but he's largely made moves that have been beneficial for the team and if he can keep doing that then I don't know why we need to fire him for the sake of change when the next GM may not be anywhere near as good as him.

Marner has 2 assists in his last 4 games. Nylander has 7 points his last 3 games. Has Marner been 4 million dollars better than Nylander? You get rid of Nylander and you'd be lucky if you could replace what he brings for 7 million and you almost certainly won't find someone better at that price.

The leafs have been good, the refs jobbed them a bit and the team looks to have about as many holes as Tampa.

The late 80's/early 90's Whalers have the record at 6 straight seasons with a first round exit. Considering the league considers the Pens playoff streak still active despite them also losing in the playins in the bubble... as far as the league is concerned, 24 teams made the playoffs that year. So we'd tie the record if we lose.

My bet is that he stays, but if he goes, I think L.A. would be the place he goes to because they're really on the upswing and should be good for a long time. Also, the Hollywood factor and proximity to home. (5 hour drive, 1 hour flight)

Vegas is another, but I imagine they're starting to get a bad reputation among players.

I really don't think there need to be drastic changes based on how the season and these 6 games have gone. Obviously, you assess the situation and go from there any year. I don't think there is some glaring reason to fire somebody though.

I do wonder if the fire is a little hotter with a guy like Trotz on the market.
