All teams are forced to hit the cap minimum. Paying Matthews 10-12 per isn't an issue. What are they going to pay him with, sand?

This whole Matthews going to Arizona is just a joke and a meme right? Even if he really wanted to leave I can't imagine that he'd go to the Yotes where its going to be a bottom team for many years and he's playing in front of fans that only mildly care about the NHL.
I've said it before and I'll say it again that as long as the Leafs are willing to pay him, he will stay. He's playing in perhaps the most passionate hockey market in the NHL with his best buddy Marner as his linemate and on a team that will be competing for many years to come. Why in the world would anyone give up all that just to play in their hometown? You'd have to be insane to do that.
As for anyone's jobs being on the line, I will be pissed if Dubas ever goes. He's easily the Leafs best GM in at least the last 20-30 years and its hard to look back at all his moves and see many bad decisions that he's made in comparison to previous Leafs GM. Playoff hockey is almost always a crapshoot and I don't know how you can fault him for the team's performance that was within a few centimeters of going on to the second round.
Dubas has done all he can to build a really good team and sometimes things just don't bounce your way as we saw tonight. Win or lose I hope he stays and continues to make this team as good as he can and I really don't think there's another GM candidate out there that can do a better job than he has in the past few years to get the Leafs and their prospect pool going in the right direction.
Please Leafs just win on Saturday so that we can put this who might lose their job discussion to a rest.

By that time, Arizona will be playing out of a mall with 14 "fans" watching through the front window at GameStop.I don’t think so but Leafs only have 2 more years of Matthews before he joins Keller in Arizona
Time running out
Him having no desire to go to that tire fire is the issue. All teams are forced to hit the cap minimum. Paying Matthews 10-12 per isn't an issue.
If for some reason we don't win Saturday i had it in my head that two of the big three off ice positions would change... Shanny.Dubas Keefe. Keefe for sure but just wasn't sure of the dynamic and standing that Shanny and Dubas have. I assume Shanny would be the one to stay with a chance to put a new GM in place.
Those moves would then shape the roster.
I have no interest in these things however... i just want to win game 7 and keep going.. be happy if they all stayed gainfully employed.
Rent or not, Yotes are paying the 60m minimum (or whatever it is next year) no matter what. The hometown kid coming home to save the franchise would be catnip for Bettman. The media would love nothing more that to rub that in leafs fan faces for the next eight plus years while setting up the new America (Matthews) vs Canada (McDavid) battle.it is when you legitimately can't pay the rent on the building so the building kicks you out
Problem with Trotz is who will be the GM? No chance Dubas will be forced into firing Keefe.I don't think Shanny goes but I'm so sure about Dubas and Keefe espically considering Trotz is out there.
Steve Briere please.
I don't care who else, we need to start developing goalies. Teams who win cups almost all have homegrown netminders.
The fact you had to put you aren't a Leafs in brackets is funny as f***.Out of curiosity (as I'm not a Leafs fan): if there is a consensus here that there are jobs are on the line for Round 1 - Game 7, what would happen if the Leafs lost Round 2? Same thing or more leeway?

he was hired more than 8 years ago in 2014I don't think Shanny's job is on the line Saturday but I'm not even sure about that.

Arizona doesn't even have a nhl rinkWhat are they going to pay him with, sand?
Dafuq???
It is about results, not comparisons to previous GMs, ffs.
No it isn't.
Um, you do know they've failed year after year right?
No he hasn't.
Funniest shit I've read in ages.
That is completely false.
