you don't seem to get it, they do not have money, they don't even offically have an arena for next season and when they do that's going to be about 3500 seats, I know people say 5000 but they have to take out 1500-1800 seats to build lockers because they can't use the lockers there because it's against regulations.

He's not playing in front of 3500 fans
Its Arizona or another contender. Fans/media just assume he'll sign on the dotted line as if he owes this city. He doesn't.

40 million on 4 forwards means cheap goaltending, which is a constant problem with the leafs. If Winnipeg wants to rebuild you have to look at trading for Helleybuck. Might have to trade a forward to make the cap work.
Soup has been very inconsistent, that's for sure.

If they are improving then they are trending in the right direction. Dubas has made AMAZING finds being hamstrung with large contracts, he's managed to consistently find diamonds in the rough.

Mykeyev, Bunting, Campell, Lybushkin, Kampf, Kase. Picked up Brodie, and got Gio for cheap. Him and his scouting staff are on point. And if we ever have to rebuild I would trust nobody else to do it smartly.
This team if they got eliminated tomorrow would not be going into another rebuild. It would be a retool. You’d have to look at the big four who tie up half our salary cap and have failed for four straight years in the playoffs now and make a major move. If they win tomorrow this conversation is dead however.

It’s tough to give too much credit for him working around a problem he alone created.

The only thing I'd try to do is get Barry Trotz over Keefe.

I feel like he can instantly improve this team. Yeah the offense will go down for guys like Marner and Matthews but I doubt they care as much if they can win in the playoffs.

It would be a huge mistake to blow everything up, no matter what happens tomorrow.

The only obvious upgrade we need in my opinion is in between the pipes.

I know this. I was putting the worst situation for a GM to be in and stating I would trust Dubas and his scouting team in that role. Which means I clearly trust him and how he's handled things after signing these ridiculous contracts. He's done an amazing job circumventing the cap and finding gems in the rough to allow us to consistently be competitive and we've even gotten better in the process.

Canadian market. This isn't Florida. Or some no tax haven. If we want to retain our stars, it's going to cost us.

The core has proven this year they can play in the real playoffs, not the last 2 contrived playoffs.

More work around the edge

Marazek, Holl, Kerfoot all gone. Sign Mik to Kerfoot's money

If Campbell is the guy get him on a team-friendly deal.

We have to remember who we’re playing against here. If this were another bottom feeder team like the Habs last year and we were in this situation again and lost then I’d be more open to making some changes.

This is the b2b Stanley Cup champs. An elite, experienced team with all world players at nearly every position. The fact we’re not only pushing them to seven but straight up dominating them for multiple games this series shows that the team overall has improved a lot. Last years Leafs would have been lucky to get past five games in this series.

We deserved to win tonight as the visiting team. I can only hope the home crowd in Game 7 can pump up the guys and give us the momentum to slay the demons at home (on HNIC no less) which would make the win even sweeter.

I’m debating whether I want to put myself through the stress of watching yet another Game 7 when past history indicates it’ll end poorly. But at the same time I want to be watching when we finally break through. Ugh my nerves.

I like Campbell but I don’t think he’s the guy. His inconsistency worries me. I think he’s an average goalie which isn’t a shot at him becuase other teams in the playoffs have average or below average goalies. There are teams with elite goalies who aren’t in the playoffs.

If we are going to try and win with all that money tied up on our forwards average goaltending is the best we can do and we got to hope for him to get hot at the right time.

I respect the great Chuck Woods opinion, but Trotz is not what this team needs. I would prefer Tocchet or another option.
I think the most important thing is to get a head coach who has won the Cup. We need someone that gives them confidence when our backs are against the wall. Keefe has never done it and the players know that..he knows that...so it's hard to fake experience and confidence when it's needed the most. 3 chances at the playoffs with no series wins is about the limit as far as I am concerned. Trotz got booted after going to the conference title games 2x in the last 3yrs. This year was a shitshow and he gets canned. If that can happen. Keefe should be worried.

Shanny has overseen everything signed off on it ultimately it is on him. I would start at the top, need new direction Shanny (does he even live in Toronto?), Dubas, and Keefe gone. Fresh start, trade Nylander plus something for a stud defenseman and big physical forward. Do not resign Mik he is soft plus need to add another big defenseman. If possible I move Muzzin too, lots of money for a softening d man. On the Kucherov goal instead of trying to block it he turned away, he is scared we need better. Watch how many shots Tampa blocks, every single player including Stamkos block shots.

Need the crowd to pump up the refs I think. Either call everything or call nothing but be consistent. Let the players decide the winner of the series.

Dubas Shanny have done a solid job improving the club each year. If they lose Sat, they arent going anywhere. They will get another crack to keep improving. Leafs are not a finished product in my mind. HAd a great regular season and have outplayed the champs for majority of series. Refs screwed them in game 6

Leafs have 100 blocked shots. TBL have 81.

Stamkos has 3 blocked shots. Kucherov has 1. Matthews has 5. Marner has 7.

I love how we're just making stuff up.

I'd like to see the Leafs with Keefe as the assistant.

We need a change if we lose this game.

and you cant change the players easily.

Trotz isn’t Houdini. He’s a terrible fit with the Leafs current roster. The Leafs don’t have the players for Trotz to run the system that has given him a name. The lineup is to soft top to bottom. Reminds me of when Vancouver hired Tortorella and wondered why it was a disaster.

There needs to be a shakeup if the Leafs lose for psychological purposes. Forget the fan base, how do you sell the players in the locker room that next year can be different with most of the same pieces intact? At a certain point I'm sure even they will question if this is the right mix.
This is an underrated post. I think the Leafs are gonna win tomorrow, but if not, you have to definitely shake things up, a least a bit, for psychological purposes.

We've been watching different teams this series. I have seen a lot of heart and character. We just need to settle on our goaltending, and move a couple contracts such as Holl and Kerfoot to sort out the cap.

We need to win because we have a good team, but if we lose we have to blow it up. Not that it’s the best decision but at this point we’ll have to do it.

So just win.
