...but I would imagine more GMs would actually call if he were benched to try to pluck him.
yeah that thought crossed my mind too, esp because he was so high profile at the end of last season, with the calder cup win and MVP trophy.
For those who claim that Weal HAD his chance, I STRONGLY disagree. Everyone focuses on that one play where he coughed up the puck in his zone, and totally disregard the good plays he made previously. If Weal had been 6'2 and 210 lbs, no one would make such a fuss over it, but because he's only 5'10 180, everyone chimes in with how inadequate he is in his own zone.
A "cup of coffee"??? More like a sip.
i TOTALLY agree with you.
few people comment on the passes, the work on the boards, etc. it's kinda like cutting off your nose (his nose?) to spite your face. you have to look at the whole performance. it wasn't a bad debut, it was a so-so debut. stuff to learn from. stuff to build on.
and it's especially worth considering in context. the whole team basically sucked in that game. so it's like weal is the collateral damage.
how come no one is complaining about all the silly penalties - esp o-zone ones - by the third and fourth lines in the last couple of games? why? because the top 2 lines have picked up the slack and are doing their jobs and so we're winning. and these lines were not gelling in the first couple of games.
as for size, definitely it's sometimes overrated but i guess that depends on a team-by-team basis.
