Why should Weal be playing when Andreoff is playing so well? I mean, Andreoff is a proven NHL vet at this point, right? :sarcasm:

Outside of faceoffs, Andreoff is playing very well. He is exactly what Sutter wants out there on the fourth line, and anyone clamoring to see Weal when the team is riding a 5-game winning streak with lines that haven't been this stable since 2014 is just not thinking straight.

As Jim pointed out last night, Andreoff had a phantom assist on Kopi's goal by pointing to the bench that he was coming off just as the puck was entering the offensive zone. And as you know, his line mates each got a real assist on that flying wedge play.

Let's keep things rolling the same as we are, shall we? I kind of like winning every game.

Unfortunately for Weal, even if he is inserted into the lineup and does well, Sutter's going to look for a reason not to play him.

Sutter loves his grinders.

Game 10 and Weal is still not expected to play. 1/10 games. I wish they would just waive Weal and end the farce.

It's Halloween. Weal should go in costume...as a Kings player.

pj, "farce" as in you mean they have no intention of using him? i am starting to wonder after reading AA's stats. if that's not enough incentive to at least give weal a try then maybe nothing will be enough for sutter. they should trade him. or i guess they could waive him too...?

Andreoff and Weal are two different players. Regardless of how bad Andreoff plays he's providing something that Weal likely can't in Sutter's opinion. Weal needs to replace someone more his style. Right now I'd be fine if Gaborik hit the press box for a game and we see what Weal can do on the top two lines.

^ or the 3rd line? you could move shore or lewis to the 4th and sit andreoff and then give weal a shot on line 3, either on wing or centre. stats show shore's been solid defensively, which is maybe what you need more on the 4th line, in enforcing, but shore's been relatively invisible offensively (basing on the jewels from the crown analysis), so let weal play 3rd line. or put him on with shore and maybe they generate something?

Again the season is 82 games long, Weal will probably play about 20-25 games.

He is not going to play every single game folks, or even half the games. Weal is in the same situation Andy was in last season. Andy didn't even play 20 games.

Actually i was surprised to see that andy played 8 games by now last season However did not play game 9 till dec 30 th

Weal can't even get into the line-up with Dwight King out for weeks.

Management called up Weal at the end of the season and Sutter didn't play him. Management put JW on the big team this season and Sutter won't play him, one game excepted. Evidently Weal has the least to contribute out of all the forwards. Maybe he just isn't an NHL-caliber player. Who am I to argue with a two-time Stanley Cup-winning coach? So if he isn't good enough for the Kings, let him either get a chance with another team or let him play in Ontario. Maybe he'll just be a great AHL player. We're just biding time until Mersch's mid season call-up, anyway, aren't we?

but can 1 game really determine his caliber or what he can/cannot contribute?
either play him, or yeah, cut him loose.

I think this 7 game winning streak is hurting Weal's chances to get in. It's hard to justify taking someone out of the line up for a rookie, when you're on a long winnig streak.

I do think Weal should be in the line up. At the very least, he's better then Andreoff or Nolan. Even though he plays a very different style. He makes the team better over those two, in my opinion.

Yeah, nothing's gonna change while we're on this winning streak, and rightly so imo. Don't change a thing. Once things start to balance out Weal's gonna get more opportunities to show his stuff.

You guys have amazing timing, as Andreoff buries that key goal!

Stop being so impatient. Jesus H. Christ, the guy is going to get his shot. As BigBrown says, the ****ing team is on a 7-game winning streak. Why in hell would you change anything up now at this point?

No, but seeing him off and on in training camp, pre-season and the AHL over multiple seasons can, which Sutter has done.

We've had these 'Player X should be playing, he's being screwed' threads repeatedly and how many where bad calls in the end? Teddy Purcell and Matt Moulson, both nearly a decade ago?

Andrei Loktionov, Linden Vey, etc. haven't proven anyone wrong. I'll trust DS on this.

^ as someone tweeted, the hockey gods have a funny sense of humor...re AA's goal timing...
^ in reply to ron...

Sutter doesn't play rookies.
Sutter tells Kopitar not to shoot.
Sutter ruined Mike Richards career.
Sutter tells everyone to stay within five feet of the boards.
Sutter ruined the Kings potent offense.

Who comes up with this rubbish?

Sutter had the 29th ranked offense (to the trade deadline) and wouldn't play Pearson. It took a 0-3 start against the Sharks to get Sutter to pull his head out of his ass. I don't know why anyone thinks Weal will get better treatment then Pearson.

For a second there I thought you were Kurrillino.
