It really had a stupid moment when It was on the roof, didn't make any sense looking at the rest of the movie

There were two occasions when it was on their roof. Only scene that didn't make much sense was the first beach scene.

Thought It Follows got a bit overrated. Definitely did a good job building up that impending sense of dread and had an interesting premise, but it was noting special IMO, and I thought it really fell apart at the climax. Still good though.

What was special though, was that incredible soundtrack. Very easily one of my favorite original soundtracks ever. Has that iconic 70s/80s horror feel down to a tee, including having the awesome theme:

The rest of the soundtrack did SUCH a good job creating an atmosphere.

Chilling:

Disturbing:

Eerily peaceful:

Added a lot to the movie, definitely don't think I'd like it as much as I did if not for the soundtrack.

Never made the connection until now but it's just a good film that gets more points after time, like Drive.

For being one of the most popular genre, why does Hollywood only churn out 1-2 great horror films every 2 years. Don't Breath seems to be this year's unless I'm missing something.

2017 has some pretty big names for movies coming out with Halloween, Friday the 13th and Jeepers Creepers 3. Really only excited for JC3 though I think it will suck.

I don’t really have faith in those titles right now. Special 13th with all the production hell its been going through

I think 2016 had a solid year.
Conjuring 2
Lights Out
Don’t Breathe
The Boy
Hush

I can't stand to watch newer horror movies.
Give South Korea's The Wailing a try. It's about a stranger who arrives in a backwoods village with what seems like supernatural chaos in his wake and the not-especially-bright cop who has to figure out what's going on and save his daughter in the process. Currently, the movie is 100% on RT (46 for 46) and 7.6 on IMDb. Intense.

13th has supposed to be out for years, right? I thought it was supposed to be a Part 2 to the awful one in 09. This one is like just another reboot of sorts, yeah?

The 2009 reboot was a remake of Parts 1-4, right? Perhaps this sequel will remake Parts 5-7. Well, that might kind of hard or silly, considering the plots of Parts 5 & 7, but Part 6 is considered by many to be the best of the entire series (not that the quality of a source typically has any bearing on the quality of a remake). Perhaps they should take a cue from it and make the sequel a little humorous and self-referential, rather than strictly scary. Audiences have proven that there's still an appetite for that sort of thing with The Cabin in the Woods and Ash vs. Evil Dead. You probably wouldn't want to go that far into comedy territory with Friday the 13th, but a balance like Part 6 had could re-invigorate the franchise like Part 6 did (and, coincidentally, Part 5 was supposed to be "a new beginning" and failed, both like the 2009 reboot, so a switch in tone could work again).

I watched "the gift" and it wasn't horrible... not scary but entertaining nonetheless.

The exorcism series (tv) is rather promising. The first episode was excellent!!!

Watched the first episode of The Exorcist. I really enjoyed it. For a first episode it was well done. Nice little twist ending too was nice. Hoping it continues to impress me.

I believe episode two comes out on friday(?) Sadly a friday time slot might not be that great for the show and not get ratings, which would be disappointing if the show gets good and ends up cancelled

Sadly I agree. They need ratings to include pvr recordings somehow.

If it's good and has a following, Netflix picks it up either way

I haven't seen enough of the show to defend it getting a new season, just stating that shows given friday night slots will affect ratings due to it being a weekend. Sunday - Thursday are the prime days for television.

Speaking of television (which I think this Horror sub should include, since its titled Horror Movie Discussion)...
the new season of American Horror Story has been great so far and definitely has some creepy horror vibes to it.

Agreed. I'm enjoying this season thus far. I'm not sure why, or what I'm enjoying but overall it's working... I just hope that it keeps going and doesn't fall apart.

On the television topic, I am a huge fan of Penny Dreadful (all three seasons now on Netflix). Highly recommend it. It's like The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but serious and dark and violent and good. Eva Green and Rory Kinnear give great performances. The rest of the cast is generally solid too.

I had a free VOD to use before October 1st so I watched Panzer ( also goes by Panzer Chocolate ) last night and was not impressed at all.

I was hoping for a Dead Snow type of film but this movie definitely does not have that at all. There were no real scares or laughs during the 85 minutes I wasted watching this thing. I'm being generous when I give it 3 out of 10. :thumbd:
