If you haven't, check out Green Room.

Although it isn't a straight up horror movie, more of a thriller, it definitely has some horror elements. I watch a lot of thrillers and horror movies and very rarely has a movie made me this anxious and uncomfortable.

I've read some good reviews of this but haven't gotten around to watching it yet, I'll be sure to watch it soon

Conjuring 2 was awesome, really enjoyed it. Lights Out should be coming out for digital download next month. Want to see that.

Also, Don’t Breathe looks siiiiick

Watched it last night. I legit jumped in one of the scenes. I stay away from trailers when it comes to these type of movies and just go in blind especially on cheap night. I really enjoyed the movie overall.

Fellow horror fans, I jump in here with a shameless plug for an awesome event I attend here in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
If you love horror and you're game for a road trip, a couple local folks (who've been doing this for 20+ years) do an annual 24-hour Horror marathon at one of our local art theaters.

Here's this year's lineup: http://scifimarathon.com/Horror/index.html

A couple of highlights - area premiers of Beyond the Gates and We are the Flesh.
The completely bizzaro Shaw Brothers flick The Boxer's Omen
Dryer's Vampyr (with live accompaniment)
Andrzej Zulawski's The Devil (this dude's movies are bonkers if you haven't seen him)
And fun classics like Return of the Living Dead, The People Under the Stairs and The Tomb of Ligeia.

The organizers are great and put together a diverse menu of horror delights (American, foreign, old, new, serious, jokey, rare, popular, etc).

Annabelle was awful, but this has the director of “Lights Out” (I still haven’t seen Lights Out but I heard great things about it and the director) Could be interesting.

Watched The Witch a couple nights ago.

Thought it was very well done. Nice sense of dread throughout with the use of music and cinematography, the child acting was pretty well done and I liked the final scene (had a slight issue with it, but no biggie).

Ending reminded me of another horror movie on Netflix I really liked, Lovely Molly.

* I like Annabelle far more than The Conjuring, but felt both weren't great. But I'm not a huge fan of that sub-genre of horror.

* The Witch was very good. Didn't care for the ending, but a lot of films have that problem.

* Rewatched The Descent a week or so ago. Still amazing. Like really, really good. Maybe my favourite horror film of all-time.

Anyone have any other recommendations? Not a huge fan of overly gory films.

Just remembered another one I watched recently: Mexican Barbaro.

It's a collection of short story-type movies. I'm not sure what I think of this film. I *think* liked a couple of the stories for sure, but I thought two of them (one REALLY in particular) was so disturbing they're the only memories I have of the film which clouds the rest of it.

I was on a vampire binge yesterday

re-watched for first time in years

Martin (1977) and Stake land

Both very good movies that both seem to get very little attention from horror fans

Martin IMO is one of Romero's best

agreed... very non traditional, but unsettling. I thoroughly enjoyed The Witch.

I just watched The Forest (2016). It stars Natalie Dormer as a women traveling to Japan to find her sister, who allegedly entered the "Suicide Forest." It has horror cliches (like Japanese schoolgirls, of course) and jump scares, but it's creepy most of the way through. It felt similar to The Grudge in many ways (Japanese setting, American girl, death culture, jump scares, PG-13, etc.).

Critical reviews tore it to shreds (34 at Metacritic, though 7.0 user score), but I have an interest in Japan, so I watched it, anyways. It wasn't that bad. I wouldn't say that it was "good," but I don't regret watching it. It's nothing special, but decent enough to watch at home one night. I recorded it off of HBO, where it's still running. If you liked the uniqueness of The Grudge's Japanese setting or like Natalie Dormer, it might interest you a little.

It Follows was a real breath of fresh air. It isn't found footage, jump scare fest, or torture porn. It sets up a really creepy atmosphere, and has an interesting, and almost-original premise that makes you think.
