I don't disagree. Actually, I completely agree.
I didn't like the trade. I wanted a pick or prospect. Heck, I still hope we can trade MSL again.
I just don't like people ripping on a guy because of 6 games.
Ok, I think we're on the same page then. Haha.
Guys, you all know I'm always a Debbie downer, but I just can't take this anymore. I can't take another year wasted, another year of stress and frustration. I'm beginning to question my loyalty to this organization. I'm really tempted to give up my "fan hood" and pick another team to follow; preferably a bad team so I don't front run. I can't do this anymore cheering for this mediocre organization.
Yup. I was born into this Ranger "family" but I am just becoming sickened by it. I love hockey, more then anything on this planet. I love the game. I love watching KHL games, minor league games, random NHL games, Olympics, WJC, etc. But above all, I love my Rangers and it's effecting my love for this game.
I truly have been considering moving on from this team. Not in full, but in my passion. In my scheduling around games. In my refusal to move away from NYC so i can attend games. I literally stayed home for college because if this team won a cup, I knew how much I'd regret it. And, with that ECF run, they actually almost did.
Anyways, I've been thinking about moving now that I have a career moving forward. Maybe down south, maybe the Hurricanes. I'll always love the Rangers and will always follow them. I'll have GCL and remain an avid fan. But I hate feeling sickened and depressed by the constant letdowns of this team.
We had a good thing going a few years ago and we threw it all away. We could have built off that but we didn't. We could have supplemented around that ECF core, but we didn't.
I don't see any center that would be availiable
You were pointing at Seguin, but he was actually a pretty proven player. Put up 67 point in his second season. Just had a meh year before he got traded
I'm not even talking about an established players. We need to take flyers on guys that haven't popped yet. Sure, it's a risk, but we don't have anyone even remotely close to our system that can project to be a real #1. Also, you're just looking at points, there are other players that are significantly better then Stepan, that don't have the points as him this year.
Regardless, I'm talking about guys like Grigorenko and Huberdeau, that might be had in the right deal. Will they be future #1 studs, maybe not, but get one of them in our system. Bite the pill and pay the price. We need to be taking risks like that. There aren't any surefire bets, but the way we've been doing it is a mistake.
All I hear you say is "well, we don't get top 5 picks, so what we've done is pretty good." You know what, pretty good isn't good enough. This teams "plan" if you can call it that, hasn't worked for 20 ****ing years. Round and round we go with mediocre player development and high end free agent signings to fill those major voids we can't internally fix.
Well, I'm suggesting something different. It might hurt to package Stepan or Kreider or Hagelin. Sure. But at least it's a chance. I would literally be calling on EVERY SINGLE CENTER PROSPECT that could develop into a number 1.
Scheifle
Galchenyuk
Barkov
Girgensons
Grigorenko
Huberdeau
Kuznetsov
Strome
Zibanejad
Lindholm
Monahan
Granlund
Etc.
I'm not saying any of these guys is a guaranteed #1. I'm not saying any of them are potentially available for what we could offer.
But start saying Stepan+Hagelin+Prospect+Pick for X prospect. Maybe they'll even take Nash for one of them if we eat some salary.
Maybe, JUST MAYBE we can get a team to listen. Offer anyone as a starting point and add to it, outside of McD or Hank. Literally ANYONE.
Again, not saying we could pry these guys away. But I'm SURE, with our young, decent, talent, we could get some teams listening.
It's possible and it's different. But it's ballsy moves this team never makes.
I would have much preferred to see a move like this, then another, predictable move, for a pushing 40 player, that we will gladly watch deteriorate in front of our eyes, while being dragged into the playoffs, by what may be the 2nd best player in this franchises history.
At this point, I feel so bad for Henrik, more so then us fans. The guy loves New York, for whatever reason and is wasting his career on a team that is just pathetic. A team with no direction. A team grasping at the same straws that it has been grasping at since before we won the cup in 94'.
I will tell you one thing though, at least Hank has many fans who respect him. Because no one respects us fans. Not Sather, not management and sure as **** not Dolan.
