Saying "it's been 6 months already" is ridiculous IMO. We don't know much about concussions as a society, other than that it is a serious brain injury that can lead to dementia, Parkinson's etc. My dad is in his early 50's and he's had at minimum 6 concussions. He went to the store the other day and when he got there he forgot why he was there.
But I'm not making excuses - if this is mentally affecting him, making him gun shy, or if he is not fully healthy, then he needs not to be playing. It's that simple. So to me, he needs to sit and get his head straight or pick up his intensity.
So you get mad that I say one thing, then all but agree...ok bud.
Look, I know concussions are serious. But I'm not about to sit here and watch a slug who we pay more then anyone glide around the ice because he's either
A) Scared of getting another
or
B) Still not fully recovered from the first two.
I feel bad for him. It sucks, but it comes with the territory. He's also making 8 million dollars a year. While i certainly hope he remains in his best health for the rest of his life, he's being highly compensated and provided with the best medical care for the risk he is taking.
Regardless, that's besides the point. This comes down to on-ice play. He looks like ****. And has for the majority of the year, outside of a 12 game stretch which inflated his stats. If that's due to concussions, so be it. But how long should we wait, it's been 6 months since he's been cleared.
Do we wait a year? Two years? Then what.... we still have a compliance we can use on his albatross. Or maybe, god willing, someone will trade us something of value for him.
The longer we wait, the less chance we have of that happening.
