I'm not a person who likes to nit pick. But that is a horrid deal for the Thrashers.

+1. Brutal. Redden is the worst contract in the league, totally unrealistic that a bankrupt franchise would take on it, especially trading their franchise player in the process.

Not really, they took on Schneider this year. Also, he has picked up his game recently. Along with Dubi and Zherdev, he'll add some much needed depth to Atlanta.

They took on Schneider because they got a pick or prospect with him and knew they'd trade him by the deadline for other picks, they didn't trade young roster players for him. Much less their BEST player. There is no way in hell this is the best offer for Kovalchuk. ATL GM didn't shop him properly for sure.

Realistically, ATL should never trade Kovalchuk without at least 2009 1st. A first round pick is a MUST throw-in for a trade involving a player like Kovy and a team rebuilding like ATL.

Blues GM is off to bed. It's not a certainty these players will be dealt. Actually, there is more of a chance that pigs fly, but I'm interested to see what I could get in return for them. SO, the Blues have placed Brad Boyes and T.J. Oshie on the trading block to test the waters and see what I could get in return.

Blues GM is going to sleep so I'll reply to all PM's tomorrow.

Yeah, that deal for Kovalchuk is brutal. He is Atlanta's franchise player and one of the only reasons that the Thrashers have the revenue coming in that they do. If they traded him it would take either a bevy of picks/prospects (including a 1st rounder) or surefire talent coming the other way that Atlanta could instantly market. I could probably put together a better package and I bet a lot of other GMs would be able to as well. I'll throw a veto towards it since a few other people have to agree with me before the trade is actually reversed.

What's this "possible re-sign" bs.... no offense... Can you even afford a 7.86M cap hit next season, considering Z's extension?
I'll trade Koivu for Datsyuk if ever that contract is troublesome... :sarcasm:

he better be planning on moving a lot of bodies about because he has no money left over next year.. and when the cap goes south in 2 years and hits the 40's he's in big doo doo.

Optional years in contracts were prohibited in the new CBA. All years have to be guaranteed or they can't be included at all. Therefore, if you are wanting to sign Hossa the entire contract length has to be guaranteed.

Man, can't believe Kovy (AND some) got traded for that. I mean my offer on the table wasn't crazy good but it certainly didn't have Redden's albatross contract. and it included picks, Suter, Rights to Radulov, and Pihlov. (Also threw in Erat if wanted)

Nashville is on the look for a Top-Calibre winger. Willing to move big pieces of our team to acquire some offensive firepower

Oh, and Redden has a NTC that allows him to choose 8 teams he will not accept a trade to. How will the commissioners be handling that since there is a decent shot that Atlanta would be on Redden's list?

George Laraque as ask to be traded!

He has a NMC for this year and he doesn't plan on accepting to be waived for a possible taker. No way he would accept to be sent down.

We'll see if a team comes foward for him. If nobody does, it is likely the Habs will shut him down for the year by exploring the posibilty of him having surgery to his back and would then be place on LTIR.

More to come on regarding him.

In other news Mathieu Schneider and Mike Komisarek are still being shop around but the interest have been very low for both if anything at all. The Habs would love to hold on to Komisarek but the business might make it impossible. The asking price from Montreal is high according to reports in regards to trading him. Negociation between Komisarek and Montreal is expected to open soon regarding a new contract.

Flames Acquire Leopold

The Calgary Flames have acquired defenseman Jordan Leopold from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for defenseman Lawrence Nycholat, Forward Brandon Prust, and Calgary's 2009 2nd Rounder.

The Avalanche confirm this trade and thank the Calgary GM for the fruitful negotiations. We are sad to see Jordan go but this team is re-building and with 5 D signed next year it was looking to be hard to keep Jordan Leopold around past this season. This also gives him the opportunity to play in the playoffs and we wish him the best.

The Stars would like to announce the acquisition of Kevin Bieksa, Patrick White and Kyle Wellwood.
We feel that although we got rid of a veteran center we were simply over paying him. So In doing this we acquired a top 4 Defenseman to fill the spot on the PP. As well as a great 2nd or 3rd line center. Seeing as we still have Ribeiro. We also acquire prospect Patrick White who shows a load of potential. We are glad with our trade and hope our fans like it as well.
