I can see Babcock smiling ear to ear at this team.
It's a thing.

And it's sad Keefe is riding Holl when it's clear he's not up to the job. Sad. Keefe 100% has to go, very shortly after this series if the Leafs fail again (approximately 36% chance of that happening).

Matthews and Marner have now had 10 opportunities to put the team on their back and will their way into a series win and they just havent. Wish our stars would come up huge for once.
I thought I heard 0-11.

Didn't watch, deleted the recording.

Watched Beyond Paradise, and a couple of episodes season 12 Death in Paradise.

I take it Holl embraced his role as Holl?
Death in Paradise is wholesome. I watch a lot of PBS when I miss the UK. Kris Marshall was the best lead imo.

If you like British shows I'd recommend:

Peaky Blinders (obvy)
Line of Duty (obvy)
Broadchurch (obvy)
Happy Valley
The Responder
A Confession
Trigger Point
Unforgotten
The Tower
The Barking Murders
The Stranger
Time

And a favourite of mine - Benidorm, although extreme British references so may not make any sense.

lol when they are done after Monday night the Dubas bois will tell you how many points they have scored in two Tampa series's and how impressive they were in those games.

I was thinking Paul had been virtually invisible this series and then he beats us again.

The more I watch these games, the more I think that Matthews is not even close to Draisaitl. Forget about McDavid. He just doesn’t take charge and lead team to victories right from the start of the game. It’s great he scored 2 goals in game 4, but why are we down 4-1 at all? I haven’t seen him assert himself and lead the team.
Yep, draisaitl is a beast. Noticeable almost every shift. Your point regarding when these guys are getting points is important as well. Why do they keep digging a hole and than relying on puck luck to get them back in it.

That's the thing with Holl.
He will do some good things and show usefulness but then he screws up and it's usually a colossal mistake that ends up in the back of the net.
Not exactly the same skillsets but he's alot like Jake Gardiner in that regard.
Honestly nothing last night was colossal or close. Dont get me wrong, he was bad and should come out, but his pressure on goal #1 came with back support and coverage. Even after his mistake we should be in an okay spot coverage wise.

Goal #2 hes beat with poor gap and turns the wrong way for the situation. Even after that its a low percentage strong side shot thats a routine play Sammy blows.

Rooting against the team so you can feel mighty about the core failing. Cool stuff my guy

Gotta say that I’m puzzled about what Keefe sees in Holl. There’s a huge sample size that makes it evident that he’s soft and prone to making major costly mistakes.

The only part of his game that he deserves credit for, is his penalty killing. Pretty solid shot blocker.

I too, would much rather see Lily in there instead. Yes, he’ll make mistakes too, but he also brings a lot more to the table than Holl, imo.

It’s pretty damning that a core group who gets lauded all the time for being so good is 0-11 in elimination games and constantly can’t get out if they’re own insecure heads. I would not be surprised at all if this team loses game 7 a day after both Keefe and Dubas are gone. Literally their jobs are on the line and last night was one of the worst coaching performances I’ve ever seen. It really cemented in my mind that Keefe is not a NHL coach. He can go take advantage of young AHL coaches and win championships with stacked minor league teams, but at this level he gets his ass kicked. Cooper as the road team got every matchup he wanted and Keefe had no idea what to do. Didn’t change a thing, no in game adjustments. f*** this guy

I swear if Holl is in again after a game like that then that’s a damming hill to die on for Keefe

Despite Holl/Keefe being terrible there's not a lot of I have to complain about.

I didn't have the feeling they were grossly outplayed like gm3, I thought it was a pretty even game.

Tampa can still punch. They're not a pushover and those games where both teams are going end pretty much like this.

Keep in mind Tampa controlled the play in Toronto. Our buffoon of a coach has seen his team outplayed in 4 of the 5 games AND continues to let his forwards blow the zone when everyone in a 5,000km radius knows Tampa's game plan is to send in two forecheckers, create 50/50's / board battles, to muck up our break outs. That is what we do, we are a quick transition team. Cooper is not allowing that. We allow their forwards to leave their zone FAR too easily, often we don't even contest their break outs.

Only due to elite individual skill, are we not eliminated, this team continues to play one way, and only one way. Cooper >>>>> Keefe. It's not even close.

ROR is going to have a monster game 6 in Tampa but not sure if that will be enough to win.

I'm not sure people (fans) are rooting for the team to lose, just looking for any light in the darkness.

If they make round two we'll likely hear the same thing about coming up short in the quest for the Cup and replacing those weak links.

Similar to people who tank relationships so they don't get hurt ...

Sure but he also stepped up to make a hit, totally missed Hagel to the point he was able to continue momentum with the puck/make a pass and Holl also lost his stick in the process. Even if he doesn't lose his stick on the play, he most likely would have been able to get back in front of the goalie and do a better job of covering Hagel on the rebound. It left two forwards having to play D coverage and Kerfoot and Acciari seemed very confused who to cover.

Just seems like Holl has been at the center of alot of these gamechanging goals against the past few years in the playoffs.

Also the only reason Marner had a breakaway was that he completely bailed on his defensive responsibilities while TB we’re sending in two fore checkers, somehow TB lost that battle Marner gets a long break out pass near center and he’s in. That can’t happen going forward. We need all our forwards engaged on both sides

With a terrible shot and a JUICY PERFECT rebound.
Sammy has been serving up rebounds like mad ALL series.

Vasi was back last night and Sammy choked - AS HE HAS most of the series.

I think Sammy will not steal a game. I think Woll can steal 1 of 2 games. To drag this flawed group into round 2 we need a goalie steal.

So far this playoffs, Woll is playing better than Sammy.

But Keefe is riding and dying Holl and Sammy.

"Good luck"

Eichel has more playoff success than Matthews

What bothers me with the leafs is that their game is always is on "hope"

Hoping that one of our stars is going to show up tonight, hoping Samsonov will make some great saves and that hoping Tampa is going to drop the ball

While other teams like Boston, Vegas, Carolina, their game is on expectations. They don't hope, they expect their team to show up, big guns to show up, they expect their goalies to make saves

There never seems to be an intention with our game. No intent to drive the play. We are always so passive and reactive to what Tampa is doing. Never other way around

Maybe I am 'expecting' too much

One hand we all want them to succeed, but on the other hand if they lose this series, it may be the funniest thing in the history of the modern world. Yes, even funnier than Grandmas Boy

Yes because if Seattle defeats Colorado, we will be the only team since 04-05 lockout to not have a single series win. We will be the biggest joke around.
