You're more likely to win than lose with JT Miller on the team. Once they purge some more of the core, JT will become a valuable leader who will push accountability. And he'll lead by example on the ice. Who cares if he rubs people the wrong way? Most leaders do because they have ego, and that ego includes a drive never to lose. He's not here to teach philosophy, paint trees, or have team bonding coffee enemas with his teammates.

The team is better with JT on it but lets stop this fantasy of him being a leader. He got kicked out of Vancouver because he is a shitty leader.

And also, A good leader is not someone who rubs you the wrong way. A leader is supposed to inspire you to follow.

I am hoping Miller is that guy for the upcoming youth movement. Of course he isnt going to be that guy for the Mikas and Panarins on the team. Lets hope age and experience helps mold him a bit. Not a given but I will take my chances with Miller leading the kids vs Mika or Bread

JT Miller has 24 hits in only 7 games and 0 PIM. Say what you want but that's impressive considering he's a top 6 forward that is 11.53 hits per 60.

This also shows the lack of physical player from the Rangers that have been here all season.

Being realistic, no one here truly knows how Miller or anyone else is as a leader. None of us are not in any locker rooms. Likewise, beyond what Vancouver chose to drip out, none of us know what transpired that led to Miller's trade. The only thing I can take a best guess at is that from a long-term asset management standpoint, it makes far more sense for Van to keep the younger EP (especially when EP is playing a bit below his norm and his trade value might be a bit down). Mid-20s 90-100 point centers are not something you come by too easily.

Regarding good leadership, I don't agree. There is no one size fits all approach. For instance, I don't want or need someone to inspire me to follow. I want someone who will "rub me the wrong way." If my performance sucks or I appear off, I want someone who has enough respect for me and my time to tell me this directly. Others may prefer to be led in different ways: praise, reward, led by example, empathized with, and so on. An effective leader should know people are unique and as such they will have different ways they are motivated and/or want to be led.

Agree Miller's had some past stories circulate that were on the immature side. But who knows what he is like now and how he will engage with this particular roster?
