same question - why is it weird if a 20-something doesn't care to have a personal relationship with a pair of 40 year old dads just because they're the same country? when you were younger did you have a personal relationship after hours with your older colleagues?

it's actually kind of unusual, actually!
Yeah, because there are casual after-work functions that you go to. You actually just stopped interacting with your older colleagues straight up outside of work? To me, that's a bit strange.

Horvat learned a bunch from the Sedins, who in turn learned from Naslund and Linden. And yeah, the gap in this case is larger because it wasn't a direct succession, but if EP40 wears an A for the team, a minimal expectation is that he's going to be a leader on the team. Right now he's giving stupid curt answers about the media, and it seems that he isn't turning towards an excellent source of advice for guidance. That's not a good thing to hear. I'm hoping we hear otherwise.

just some ideas for trade deadline.

washington:brock boeser ,van gets henrik lapierre 2025 1st+another roster player

njd:pius suter van:3rd round pick 2025 vgk.

nyr:carson soucy van: 2026 3rd round.

In this scenario, what do we end up trading EP for in 1 year?

edit: am somewhat reminded of when Nicklas Jensen looked like he wanted to jump off a cliff the 51st time he was asked about if he knew fellow Dane Jannik Hansen.

This is just.... wrong.

Petey should absolutely be getting all the advice and mentorship he can from the Twins not only because they are both Hall of Famers and the definition of hard work but because they went through similar struggles/criticisms from the fanbase and media in their early careers.

Not doing so simply reeks of ego and a lack of self awareness. Not traits you want in your franchise centre. You think guys like Crosby and MacKinnon would do the same? No shot.

eichel like return. or depends if petey goes back to being a 80-90 pt centerman better value back? 1st+more.

Fair enough for the right player profiles I'm open to it. But I always felt like Datsyuk was a poor comparison to Petey. The right one is obviously Kopitar. He has the fire in him. He needs to fuel it.

Pettersson is going to be forced to do the grouse grind with the Sedins this offseason and blow both of his knees.

Brough is just throwing fuel to the fire regarding Pettersson because he’s run through every other theory and they need to fill air time. Last week it’s the yips, now the relationship with the Sedins.

I’d keep Pettersson, ‘retool’ him in the offseason with a babysitter/trainer/psychologist.

thissssss

i really wish ppl would stop giving these guys' attention. @God is already speaking it as fact. such a nothing burger

who said he wasn't??!

this post reeks of a lack of critical thinking; it's not weird. ya'll slurping up this media bait.

i mentored under someone for three years... owe half my career to the guy. never once had a beer with him.

petey doesnt show emotion. at all. its like he lost his drive for the game. he needs to see a sports psychologist along with rehabbing his injuries this offseason to be the same elite player he once was when he first arrived into the league. the shot the hesitation is frustrating to watch.

Lol, they're his colleagues, he can get it in working hours. They basically retired and took a break as soon as he started his NHL career. He won the Calder in his first season and was pretty much an instant success in the NHL. I get it we love the Sedins but expecting players from from different generations and family situations and be buddies is so silly. This is such a nothing story.

Man, they weren't going to after work function either they were going home to their families. I went home and did my own shit. Some people went drinking I guess. No one I cared to hang out with. Now I'm the older guy and I go home to my family and don't hang out with the younger guys. Nothing that can't be done during the work day.

Horvat was the Sedins team mate. They played together. When Pettersson played the Sedins just retired and they were just family guy alumni living elsewhere in town while Pettersson was busy starting his NHL career with his own team mates. The guys mentoring Petey were guy playing with him - Elder and Tanev were vets on the team, weren't they? The Sedins were being full time dads, he was winning the Calder.

I don't think it's weird or unusual. Crosby lived with Mario and undoubtedly developed a personal relationship with a "40 year old dad."

At the time I might have thought otherwise, but given what has transpired, I do think about what would have happened if the Sedins played another year and was there to mentor Petey.
