Just wondering if you, or anyone else would have an approximate value for an Ovechkin signed jersey by Fanatics(authentication) and framed. The framing part is just a basic type, not one by a professional.

The Cup 20-21 dropped today. Kaprizov and Sorokin have sticker autos on their cards which is super disappointing for this product. Still a lot of super nice cards.

Box prices are way too high so I've just been living vicariously through some YouTube breaks.

Need more information about the jersey. What type of jersey, is there an inscription, is it a limited number? Your best bet is to on Fanatics, steiner, and sports memorabilia sites and see how much a similar jersey cost. Fanatics has lot of 20-30% off sales so unless its hard to find its not going to be worth a ton.

The jerseys that will have the most resale value are going to be if its a reverse retro, OG captials jersey, or if it has an inscription noting 800, 802, 897 (in the future) goals, 3X hart and stuff like that.

Are you serious? Sticker auto(s) in $1000+ product?

Yup. Could be wrong but my guess is Kaprizov wasn't signing and they couldn't hold the product up any longer. It's a bad look for UD for sure.
Sorokin has sticker autos as well. It could be a Russian thing.

Random but somewhat related note, anyone in PA that knows of any good csrd stores other than Steel City? I’m driving through Tuesday and looking for places to stop on the way.

Is it normal for raw sports cards to not be completely flat? I bought about 15 raw cards i want to grade w beckett (their slabs are the best) and they were almost all sent cheaply in flat envelopes, now when they lay they kind of bow up with no visible signs of creases or real damage. When you look down the edge you can see its not completely straight and i dont know if or how that affects the potential grade.

Lots of cards come curved, and can be flattened by putting them under a book, but that looks full on bent. Could drop the grade to a 5/6.

Box prices are out of control for what you are getting. Most boxes I've seen bring back about $300 in cards. Even if you hit a McDavid auto or a top rookie, you might barely break even. Even the /99 RPAs are going for less than $2k Canadian. I'd stay far away from this product, and just buy a nice McDavid auto or a RPA on the secondary market.

Yeah, there's 0 consideration to buy at this price. Just lighting money on fire even with a nice hit.

Who are the best rookies? Kapriszov and Robertson?

The product is $1,350 CAD a box plus tax. You can buy a Robertson RPA for $2k and the Kaprizov is a sticker auto. The math on that makes zero sense.

Just imagine the shit next season with Bedard. At least his stuff will be worth while. If he somehow ends up with the Habs his stuff will be f***ing ridiculous especially if he does well by the time shit gets released.

I’m tempted to bail on S1 next year however Bedard is the only reason why I’m still sticking with my case. If I hit 2, one goes right to grading and the other for my personal set.

At the rate UD is going, by the time his Cup RPA comes out he’ll already be in the league two or three seasons. There are still TWO more Cup releases to come out (2021-22 and 2022-23) before we can even think about Bedard’s 2023-24 Cup cards.

Lots of time to start saving up lol

Is there a release date for 21-21 The Cup?

Ie sometime this year or onto 2024?

UD is ridiculous

The Bedard cup tins are probably gonna be $1500 based on how much everything is coming up again. On a less related note, 22/23 s2 is delayed until April now.

I wonder if all of the interest in Bedard cards next year will lead to a bump in hockey cards in general

It will amongst basic hockey card collectors, but I have to imagine there are people who collect sports cards whenever there's a phenom in a sport up.

Raw ? That would be sick.

I've considered just buying raw cards in good shape, get them graded and then sell for a profit and keep going, but I'm also kind of lazy

This thread needs more action. There should be a memorablia/cardssub thread somewhere on the main boards somewhere.
Well, the market fell flat on it's face.

The pandemic collectors came in and thought pandemic prices were here to stay and got a rude awakening then left. There were people here talking "gem rates" and all that crap who had no clue what they were talking about.

Long story short, I'm a flipper before flipper became a thing. I said all along these prices weren't gonna last but everyone is an expert except the actual experts. I sold a lot of McDavid cup rookies for almost a million dollars and had the guy emailing me a few months later for his money back. The pandemic collectors were suckers. Every single one of them. And most of us actual big time dealers took advantage of them because we've already been thru this shit three decades ago. And I don't feel sorry one bit. You all bit into the hype and didn't listen when everyone said "don't waste your money".

Hell, even that Gretzky rookie sale was shilled to oblivion from the same auction house that sold a Mario64 cartridge for almost two million.

That's why this thread died. It wasn't about showing off good stuff which did happen and then this thread was awesome, it became more of an investor/speculation thread about ultra modern cards and that's when the wheels fell off because nobody understands Upper Deck prints enough crap that everyone who wants a certain card can get that card.

There's a pop 1 Luongo psa 10 card on eBay collecting dust at under 50 bucks. Nobody is buying it when you can call your own shot a few years from now with it once people understand just how rare the card is. That's what separates actual flippers from the influx of new investors.

Buy vintage.

I'm gonna say no.

Bedard YG will come out the gate at 200/500 raw and around 2k at a 10.

Collectors will be chasing all of the QBs from this year's draft class. Nobody is going to care about Bedard outside of hockey fans unless he's doing Gretzky things in the NHL.

I'm 32. I've been a fan since I was like 5 years old. I had hockey cards as a kid and than was buying singles cards off ebay like backing 2010. I got into the hobby hack in October 2020 (go figure). All the stuff I buy I don't intend on selling but I always try to get a good deal on whatever i buy because I know the value can drop in the long run. That's pretty incredible you have wheeled and dealed some high end stuff like that. I have alot of cash saved where I can buy some high end stuff. It'd just a matter of if I want to take the next step in collecting and get into flipping cards or investing more. Just seems a bit risky unless you are getting guys like Gtetzky , McDavid, Howe , Crosby etc...i think one of the best things about this hobby is you can collect favorite player or team and not have to spend alot of money to get some really beautiful looking cards. It's basically art to me in a sense. I don't see my self getting out of this hobby. It's to fun/interesting.
