I can't believe I'm only just now finding the hockey card thread lol.

My PC is Corey Crawford, but I collect any and all hockey lol.

my TCDB profile if anyone is interested in being friends on there. Spent a year cataloguing my collection on there. Only unique cards though. I didn't list how many duplicates I have of some. It was a fun but VERY time consuming project.

Does this site have all the cards listed for you to find and show what you have ? I've never seen this before

I got lucky and found someone selling one for 35 obo and got it for like 36 cdn total.

I've been able to get 3 of these for about 100 cdn. Always love when you find someone looking to sell quick

Some cards and a jersey I've bought recently.

My main collection is Patrick Roy. After that is minor collections with Ted Lindsay(hometown player) Manon Rheaume, and then random, good- high end cards/autos I assume would be hard to get.

I had a profile on TCDB that I created a few weeks ago but never used. After seeing your collection there I decided to start adding my cards to my profile. Pretty cool site! A lot of work but I'm enjoying it.

A preview of The Cup 20-21 was released too

hmmm
the RPA doesn't look like the usual The Cup RPA's. it reminds me of another product from UD

I don't know, maybe just me, but for the first time in years, not really looking forward to The Cup this year
Hopefully upper deck has recovered from the covid boom and is back to releasing the products on a steady time line throughout the season, as they've always done

Some of my Roy cards and pretty much the only non-Roy cards I still have. Only thing missing are some Lindsay autos

Ripped open a couple Tim Horton packs today. Pulled a McDavid "triumphs" and a Pettersson "gold etchings". Oh also a base Maker

Weird that they show stats on the back, but not last year's stats

Where should I start if I’m going to start collecting some cards from scratch?

Is it packs, bundles, what type of cards??

Maybe a good site to buy them also???

It depends. Do you want to collect specific players? Do you want to build a set? Or do you just want the excitement of opening packs and seeing what you get?

Upper Deck is the only company currently with an NHL license. There are many different sets/products you can open but for starters Upper Deck Series 1 and Series 2 are the main sets people chase. The rookie cards are called “Young Guns”, which are the main rookie card from any set people generally want, and it has many great looking inserts. The set is so large that it is broken up into Series 1, Series 2, and Extended.

If you want autographs or memorabilia cards, Series 1 and 2 will barely fill that need but there are many other sets that will. Different sets fill different needs.

Cards come inside of packs (usually about 8 cards per pack). Or you can buy a box of cards which many have 12 to 24 packs of cards (depending on the product). If you’re buying packs or boxes, find a reputable dealer who sells sealed product. Don’t buy packs and boxes from places like eBay… there are some bad apples who search and seal product again. EBay is great for buying specific cards you want.

In terms of a good site to buy from, what country are you in?

Thank you sir:)

I’m not quite sure what I would like to collect but I may do some more research or just buy some packs.

I’m a big Devils fan from Copenhagen Denmark.

Maybe a rookie brodeur but the upper deck series with rookies also sound great:)

Does the card hold value or ?

Thanks Kristian

Brodeur’s true rookie card is a 1990-91 Score card. It comes in two forms. Canadian and American. They’re exactly the same, except for the back. The Canadian one has French in addition to English. The American just has English. There’s no price difference between the two.

Glad to help. As MarkusKetterer replied, Brodeur’s rookie comes from Score. They’re not expensive and are fairly easy to find.

I only know of one European dealer - a guy named Anders, from Sweden. I believe he now has 2 card stores in Sweden and he always shares a booth at the big expo in Toronto with GameBreakers Sports Cards from Ottawa. Anders has an Upper Deck license and can get some of their products. I don’t know what his costs are like but I would think the shipping might be cheaper through his business rather than from North America. He also gets products from the European hockey leagues, which are tough to find in North America. His website is www.coolcard.se and his contact info is on there as well. I don’t know about his employees, but he is fluent in English.

I think it makes sense to have a goal in mind when collecting as otherwise it’s overwhelming. It can be something like all players who scored 100 points in a season, all goalies who have won the cup, all New Jersey goalies, etc.

Check out COMC.com. Amazing site to browse and buy.

I mostly buy from there and eBay.

Opening boxes (wax) is basically gambling, just a warning. It's fun but always better to just buy the players you are chasing off eBay. Sites I use for wax are DA Cardworld and Blowout cards.

To learn the cards I recommend watching YouTube and clicking around on COMC.

Check out some of these channels:

Just curious: Why are Rookie cards so valuable?

Why not Superstars like Oveckin now? Or Crosby? MacKinnon...?
ppl love speculating

Ovechkin has been in 100s of base card sets, cards from his rookie year will always be sought after.

Got some nice Hockey Cards this christmas, Including a Tim Hortons Series Jack Hughes Hockey Heroes Card and an Upper Deck series Jumbo Young Guns Jamie Drysdale Card.

Trying to start up my Hockey Card collection again. I'm very happily excited!
