I tried a new grading company cause I had a friend that worked there, he was termed before the cards arrived but I am happy with the quality of the casing. Sent a couple of allure cards in to test it out, came out to $30/card. 3 week turnaround.

Not bad looking at all.
Yeah, I do like the QR code, lets everyone see the pictures of the imperfections and they also come with rubber casings for extra protection. They were extremely limited in what they would grade though. I sent in a retro YG Exclusives of Jake Oettinger and they denied it due to its size.

The National was a complete joke.

I went there wanting to buy tables and none of those clowns wanted to sell.

For future reference- The National is to weak flex your cardboard, not sell it. One dealer asked me for 100k, I said “ok”, pulled out a suitcase then he backed off from the deal. Any big money “deals” are nothing but imagination.

All the tiktok influencers have infected the youth into thinking everything they have is worth a lot of money. Kids knew I had money, then started showing off current garbage then got mad because I told them I wouldn’t give them ten bucks for everything they had and that if I really want current shit I can buy it for Pennie’s on the dollar.

Never again

I ordered from COMC.com for the first time. Just ordered 50 Devils rookie cards for the first order. With the cheapest shipping option I got my order in the mail in like 15 days. They did a great job shipping the product too. I would suggest using this site if you want to do somewhat bigger purchases for like 5 or more cards since they combine the shipping and saves money. They have some really good prices on there too. If I ordered these cards kn ebay individually I probably would have spent atleast double what I paid for them.

Honus Wagner card sold for a record amount.

from usatoday.com:

There aren't many assets like the an original T-206 Honus Wagner baseball card.

The value just keeps going up.

A 1909-1911 Wagner T-206, considered the rarest baseball card in the world, set another record for most expensive card ever purchased, recently selling for $7.25 million.

The sale was facilitated through Goldin. Ken Goldin, who oversaw the sale, said he considers the T-206 Wagner "in the classification of a sports franchise, a value of a Picasso, a Van Gogh or a Da Vinci."

ff98da67-0d18-447b-803e-c014bae45c2c-T206_Honus_Wagner.JPG

"It's just so rare," Goldin told USA TODAY Sports. "It's a flag-bearer for the industry, especially for cards. Anybody that gets into the hobby and has money, it's a status symbol. 'Do you have a Wagner?' There's so few of them."

The buyer and seller have opted to remain anonymous.

"The buyer is a long-time collector whose dream was to own a 'nice' T-206 Wagner," Goldin said. "The seller I'd refer to as a trading card investor."

Last May, a SGC Grade 3 went for a $6.6 million to set the former record. This one, a SGC Grade 2, is a lesser-graded card (on a scale of 1 to 10), but was a pricier sale.

The reason, Goldin said, lies with the mystique of the card.

"There's never been a sale of the exact same card that was less than the previous sale," Goldin said.

There are less than 50 authenticated T-206 Wagner's, Goldin said. A few have not yet been graded – such as the card that sits in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Absolute travesty.
Many already know about the debacle surrounding the recently sold McDavid PSA 10 The Cup RPA that sold in ebay auction at 200k USD. It's numbered #29/99.
That same card was previously graded by BGS an 8.5. A plethora of social media pages and hobbyists pointed out in detail how and where the card was trimmed (bottom left corner), and resubmitted to PSA, where they graded it a 10!

That card at BGS 8.5, most likely would've finished in the 100k-120k range. But now that's it trimmed and compromised, I'd be surprised if it's true current condition value exceeds 50k. Whoever won that auction, got ripped off over 150k. If he/she tries to sell it back to the market at some point, they'll be met with alot of hostility and complaints, with evidence of trimming the card, as the majority of the hockey card hobby circle are well aware of it's history.

The fact PSA, not only graded an imperfect card of this magnitude a farce grade, but didn't notice the trimming and altering of the card, is just plain disgusting. This is a massive 6 figure mistake, and PSA should be held accountable and reimburse whoever they need to.

Imagine, a bunch of collectors at home on inferior pc's and cell phones were able to catch this alteration, but it made it passed the so called #1 grading and authenticating sports card company in the world with elite tier technology. What a joke

If your going thru Goldin your playing with fire.

They just sold a Brady rookie that was altered and had to drop the sale.

PSA is getting raked right now but the auction houses aren’t doing their due diligence either.

I’m not putting any stock in any big ticket cards being sold right now. Grading companies are losing reputation and having the card raw right now looks like a better alternative then spending the money on a grade.

There’s Steph Curry cards selling for 10k that were selling for 100k two years ago. The time to sell was during the pandemic.

I sold four McDavid Cup rookies to a private collector for an insane amount of money and I haven’t regretted it since. You guys who were saying young guns, gem rates, and all that speculative bullshit should have been listening to us who have been in this hobby well before all this Johnny come lately drivel started.

I’ll be buying out hobby shops at pennys on the dollar in a couple months.

There’s a lot of guys here who give sound advice- most of them are collectors. Those are the guys who have the most knowledge.

I want to hear about collectors having fun, seeing pics of cards that mean something to others instead of how much they are worth.

This thread got candy assed the second people started talking about gem rates and young guns being valuable. If you can get it at Walmart, it’s not going to hold its value in the long run unless it’s an outlier like a trout update rookie. Even McDavid YG’s are a horrible investment now and have nowhere to go but down unless he goes to a huge market. And I have cases of 2015.

You’re seeing altered cards being sold, boxes of 86 fleer basketball that should produce 4 Jordan’s only pulling two off center ones that are mis cut from the other cards in the packs, bogus patches on cards, bogus autographs on cards… lol this craps been going on for decades, now everyone is calling it out?

For some.

I collect Roy, but mostly look for the mid 90s- mid 00s number, because the numbered version is the same as a base version, just a number slapped on it.

I've noticed these cards and artist proof cards are still selling for a lot and way more than what I paid for 2, 3 years ago.

The card attached, I have 2 of them and paid maybe 50 bucks total for each of them about 5 years ago.

I'm guessing with them being older people got rid of them, or they're "lost" is my only guess.

Me in 1982: Threw out my entire box of hockey cards (yes, all piled in a box) because we were moving and I was too young to even think twice about it. I shudder to think what was in that collection (maybe 500 cards).

Me in 1992: During the card craze back then, bought the entire set of O-Pee-Chee and Upper Deck for who knows how much money, organized them all in loose leaf sleeves, put into binders that I've kept in a closet ever since. Completely worthless to this day.

To be fair, unless you had rookies, or just Gretzky cards from O-Pee-Chee you're not losing much.

We'll never know. I have no memory whatsoever of what cards I had. I know they ranged back to the early 70s right up until '82 when I dumped them. My dad would bring home a pack each for me and my brother once in awhile. I just hope none of my enemies found them.

While not hockey, the cost to build the entire Panini world cup sticker set has been increasing fast.

This is a trend that i am seeing across all sports. Eventually there has to be a tipping point before people has had enough. I feel this is not the way to retain the people picking the hobby back up. I got back into the hobby during the pandemic like others but considering stopping due to insane costs especially since i am not in it to sell for money and just want to collect.

Can't find any info but would have to think these were all from his personal collection.
