With the price where it’s at you should get it graded.

OPC Lemieux rookie psa 8 just ended with zero bids at 1.6k price. That’s a steal at that price and if I saw it earlier I would have pounced on it

Not a great picture (from my phone). Obviously it isn't perfect, I just find the edges (in terms of rough cut) are very good and I know 100% it was never trimmed. Funny thing is I know lots of people who wouldn't go near that because they feel it automatically IS trimmed if the edges aren't rough. Bottom two corners may cause reduction too.

About 90% of my cards from that year have similar edging, not rough at all (by comparison to some of what I see out there). I found by far the hardest thing to get back then was centering. That's why I get a little upset that they willingly look the other way on cut but centering is so strict. To me, a 10 should be a 10 (clearly mine isn't that) and if that doesn't exist, so be it. If one comes along with great edge and great centering, it should 100% be the holy grail over some other ones.

Hmmmm.....not sure why link isn't working? Stay tuned....

Anyone know how to make this work? I tried both the picture and link options but no luck. Argh...tried to post just text of link and didn't let me.

Just looking at the quoted text, are you trying to share an image URL or a website?

I opened two boxes of UDS1 today, didn't get any good young guns to be honest but this saved me:

I love the easter eggs that Upper Deck throws into products these days. The Black parallel is unannounced and there's no stated odds.

That definitely saved your break. Nice hit! I have 3 hobby boxes in the mail and getting a bunch of retail. Probably buy a few epack boxes too.

Cardboard Connection users are reporting rounded corners out of the packs again. Watched one break from a fellow HF Boards user and his cards appeared fine. How has the QC been on boxes opened here?

I saw someone got like 500 young guns in their UD 1 case. Crazy. Most packs were loaded with ygs.

A year and 1 month later and still waiting for my PSA submission to come back. This wait! :(

I submitted two orders around the same time (one ultra modern and one modern). I have received the ultra modern back, but the modern is still "grading".

Potential. The hobby market is ridiculously speculative. People don't want to miss out on the "next best thing." It's really rampant in baseball collecting.
Lol I bought up a bunch of Shohei rookies a few years ago because I saw a highlight of him in Japan and since my favourite player was Ichiro I figured why not start a new PC. The prices on those rookies today compared to how much I bought them for....Wawawewa

Does anyone have a Beckett subscription?
How much does a 1979-1980 O-Pee-Chee hockey set and 1985-86 O-Pee-Chee hockey set list for?
Do you have to get everything graded before you sell nowadays? How much does it cost to get a whole frickin' set graded?
Can you actually make money off of the modern stuff; it's not all over-produced like the 1990's cards?

So many questions. I looked through all my cards the other day and everything seems so underwhelming. My two biggest regrets right now are not buying (okay... having my dad buy, back then lol) a Gretzky RC that was in NM condition instead of average and not learning how to play and not collecting Magic: The Gathering cards when they came out.

Beckett isn’t nothing but fluff.

Look at past ebay sales. Your questions about sets is kind of hard to track considering the keys grades matter more then anything. If you have a PSA 8 Gretzky the price is ridiculously higher then if you have a 3. If you are talking ungraded, you are taking a huge gamble if you do indeed have a high grade key card and nobody will buy a 79 set of the Gretzky isn’t graded for fear it’s counterfeit.

Making money off current cards has leveled off outside of high graded limited. If you are talking young guns, good luck. Somebody on stream a few weeks ago tabulated McDavids YG year thru odds and came to the conclusion there’s at least 400k of them. That’s a ridiculous amount of YG’s when in comparison Kane’s rookie year was tabulated up to be 100k, which is still a ridiculous amount. Nor do I put it past Upper Deck to have produced the shit out of flagship every year when they were still making 89 upper deck high series after 90 came out.

Buy vintage. Hell, buy junk era high grade. There’s a ton of them out there but looking at the PSA numbers there’s less gem mints then current young guns.

Super excited to see a thread like this on HF Boards!

With that said, if ever someone is on the lookout for a stud in the making (AKA Jack Hughes), I have a couple of gems I might be looking to move...

- The Cup RPA /99
- FWA /999 PSA 10

*I also have a YG McDavid BGS 10 (Pristine) I might move for the right price. I got loads of vouches on FB groups if it can ease the mind of potential buyers.
