Crosby YG 9.5 with a 10 sub just sold for 2000, down from 3900.

It’s not just hockey, it’s across the board. Whoever was buying Mac Jones for 3k a month ago is a fool now.

I'm seeing the prices on S1/S2 at online retailers come down in price. Zephyr Epic has extended blasters for $16-17 each. My guess is a lot of the retailers were hording the S1/S2 and are now unloaded it, as the Laf hype has died down.

It's definitely annoying that people are buying up all the products at physical retailers though. Went into Walmart, and they said a bunch of guys will follow the restockers around when they put up new product and buy it all. In Canada, the retail is handled by outside companies who have deals with retailers, where they get shelf space, but the Walmarts/London Drugs, etc..., don't actually sell/stock the products themselves. So you can learn the schedules of the restockers and take advantage. A lot of people were hording for the purpose of reselling. I hope they get stuck with a bunch of the product and take a loss.
Resellers have ruined the hobby.

I watch these guys on tiktok over inflate their crap to cringe levels and laugh when months later they are trying to sell the exact same crap they were bragging was worth thousands for a hundred bucks.

And no, tiktok isn’t a good place to buy cards. These guys rip people off, get their accounts banned, then reopen a new account under a different name. One guy ripped a kid off over a crappy insert card then made videos about it.

If your seriously gonna rip a kid off over five dollars, you need to sit down and refigure out your life.

they are mint the corners are sharp and centered. Also the set in the binder has no warp
A lot more to a card being mint then the corners and centering.

Everyone’s cards are mint until they get it professionally graded. That’s a 30 year old set now. Go thru the process with PSA.

Altho I did pick up a case for 800 on discord a few months back, I’d still wager it’s a lot more uncommon then any current YG

Any card printed in the early 1990s is likely to have significant factory flaws. PSA 10s of the Jagr Premier rookie remain relatively rare, which is why they go for $500. The 9 only goes for $120 CAD or so and the 8 only goes for $30 CAD.

Unless grading prices fall dramatically, you're taking a gamble with grading that you likely won't win. If grading prices were back down at $8-10/card, it'd be an easy go ahead. But back then the PSA 9/10 Jagrs were selling for way less.

I saw that happening at Wal- Mart when Series 1 came out last yr. 7 guys standing waiting for the lady to restock and boom gone.

The market was definitely due for a course correction but there’s still things that are going up and will continue to do so. There’s a bunch of factors that go into it including inflation in the real world now. There’s a big issue with recency bias where a guy goes off and people also wanting the “new new” (such as Mac Jones). I also think a lot of people finally realized rarity matters and common/mass produced things like YGs aren’t worth the crazy prices (except Ovi which continues increasing but that’s an exception).

I think all Ovi stuff is crazy high right now and think that could continue to climb but not sure. I also think things like high end Gretzky auto patches are still on the rise based on their rarity and the cross over from other sports.

Another major issue is that you can't get cards graded affordably anymore by PSA or Beckett. It's creating a false sense of scarcity. Once those companies go back to offering $20/card grading, the market will be flooded with graded cards and the whole thing will collapse.

That’s an excellent point that I overlooked at the moment. That will have a significant impact and lower the prices on a lot of things. However, I think that’ll mostly apply to the mass produced things like YGs and not really rare things like FWAs (at least for the big names like Ovi and Crosby).

With that said though I would be very hesitant to spend big money on a guy like Crosby who’s towards the tail end of his career and unlikely to win anything. You could’ve made an argument his stuff would increase because of the Olympics but there’s no way the Olympics are happening for the nhl.

It's wild to see graded young guns of 2nd liners and #2 d-men go for less than lower pop early 90s graded rc's of hof'ers.

Looking forward to when this market goes normalizes. Been collecting for amongst 35 years and I don't begrudge the flippers investors but sure won't miss them. Would be happy to see my collection lose significant value if if meant I could add significantly to it.

PXL_20211223_153639442.jpg Hi anyone here knows the value of this card. I can't seem to find it on any websites. There seems to be an LE-1 very similar and more common, but it's not the same. Mine is an SP-1. I'm hoping this might be worth something.

My family got me 2 blaster boxes of 2021 allure and a blaster of 2021 opeechee platinum. Had some good pulls from both boxes but my best pull was a Kieffer Bellows Allure Red Rainbow rookie auto card. Had some other good pulls like. Romanov Platinum Red Surge rookie and a Cozens Platinum Sunset rookie. Also a Allure Black Rainbow Laffreniere. Alot of rookie cards and inserts from both sets.

I recently ordered a Jack Hughes YG. The market for his cards will be crazy pretty soon.
I highly doubt it.

He would need to go on a McDavid type scoring run to make a dent over what his cards are selling for.

If you can buy Hughes YGs on discord for 30 bucks shipped raw, I’d say it would take something “crazy” for his cards to appreciate higher then that. There’s thousands of case’s still out there unopened.

I was reading this thread and started browsing through my binders from my collections from the late 1970s and early 1980s. For Toronto Maple Leafs fans, Dave Keon as a Fighting Saint, from my complete 1976-77 WHA set. Oh yeah, and some guy named Gordie Howe. I also saw that I had a couple different Rocket Ismail (football) AW rookie cards from 1991. Not sure what they would be worth.

I’m very glad to see Bratt having a breakout season so far.
I have some decent cards of his , including what in my opinion is one of his best true rookie cards.
Upper Deck the Cup rookie patch auto jersey numbered 063/249.
I have been slowly buying his cards since they came out.

Stutzle rookies have dropped. Same with Lafreniere.

If laf gets traded to Montreal his cards will skyrocket again.
Now is the time to buy Stutzle Laf Dach . Buy them now before they break out.
So many good guys to collect before they get crazy priced. Buy low while you can.

They will never hit the highs they were at when they came out value wise. They, along with almost every other card, suffers from the shiny new toy syndrome. All it takes is for the next new batch of rookies to come along and attention shifts.

Meh. Lately with how hot cards are , I can not see how they do not go up in price. I cannot see Laf and Stutzle not improving their play and their cards not going up long term.

Its all about hype and demand. Once a new crop of young guns comes out people want them and that creates a surge in demand, in turn inflating the prices. You’ll see if you stick around the hobby long enough.

With guys like Stutzle, Laff etc they have already started to drop as you have already noticed. Odds of them hitting those highs again are made smaller soon as Raymond, Zegras etc hit the market.
