May as well trade for Kadri, Laine. Have all three whine about how they should be playing with Matthews on the top line. We can't get out of the first round but we can be a source of entertainment and drama. I would watch this reality TV show.

PLOT TWIST: Sean Avery comes out of retirement to join leafs top Line. Evander Kane beats Kyle Dubas in a bet and is forced into the lineup.....All this and more in next weeks episode.
We’ve already been the source of entertainment for many years now.

Giving certain players opportunities to success when they aren’t capable of playing that high up in the lineup such as Thornton and Vesey. Therefore I can see Keefe giving the benefit of the doubt to Ho-Sang given his offensive skill and giving him a look from the start on that second line next to Tavares.

Thonton's benefit of the doubt became a point of contention. Mainly from the fans. Thornton also signed a contract. Same goes for Vasey. Also Vesey's account is not the same. He was put in waivers and then picked up. Ho-Sang has to make it out of camp first.

And Ho-Sang is? Malgin has played almost 4x the number of NHL games and is a year younger than Ho-Sang.

Malgin is a possession hockey player, can make plays, and is a fast skater. He has also improved his shot, goes to the dirty areas to make plays, and was actually good when he was sent overseas. So besides having prestige that he never lived up to in the 7 years since he was drafted, what exactly does Ho-Sang have that Malgin does not?

Malgin deserves another shot at an NHL lineup. Unfortunately, we have too much depth for that to really happen here. So like Engvall, he should be moved for a pick and hope that he can turn into something elsewhere.

If Ho-Sang wants to be a guy on the Marlies who likely never gets a shot with the Leafs, then he can be a cheap guy to fill a spot on the RW depth chart. Although the Marlies already added Seney and have SDA, so I don't think they need another pure playmaker.

i'll make sure to come back to this post if and when he suits up for the leafs lol

Josh Ho-Sang drafted 28th overall in 2014 & was taken 20 draft spots after William Nylander and only 6 spots after Kasperi Kapanen.

So...He’s what? Our next Jack Campbell long road to promise project?

He better not wear #66 here. That’s a Wilf Paiment bookend my nerves can’t take this year.

(Not that WP wasn’t a good hockey player, he was. )

Put him with Marner and Mathews and everyone has a turnaround year. Dubas is probably looking to see if he can pump any value into him.

If you play him with Marner and Matthews than #34 will never touch the puck in the O Zone unless he is retrieving it via a board battle. Ho Sang holds on to the puck far too long and looks for the cute passing attempt each time which is much like Marner however Ho Sang is less skilled at it. Marner and Ho Sang both posses below average NHL shots and are not a threat to score on their own. Matthews would have the blanket defense on him and we be unable to get a shot off playing with these 2.

When’s the last time a Ho-Sang like player actually had a good turnaround in their career?

It depends on what you mean by Ho-Sang like player?

Tampa had a couple of winger reclamation projects who were languishing in the AHL in Marty StLouis and Yanni Gourde - but I'm not sure if they fit your criteria as I'm not sure what the criteria is.

I mean Galchenyuk's career was in a shitter full of diarrhea before the Leafs effectively rehabilitated it.

Granted, Gally had proven he could produce at the NHL level at one point in his career, however not for a long long time. I'd even argue that Josh would have been able to produce at the exact same level as Gally had he had the NYI roll out the red carpet for him like MTL did for Gally. Josh has always had NHL skill. He's been labeled a problem child since junior. We obviously don't know the full truth, but usually where there is smoke there is fire. That said, maturation occurs all the time. Maybe him going overseas last year was the wakeup call he needed to realize that he was the only thing holding himself back from playing at the highest level. A little humility can go a long way. Gally's only stint in the AHL in his whole professional career came last year. It's truly remarkable how that was the case TBH. He is no where near talented enough to have gone straight from junior to pro and stay there without 1 stint in the AHL. Yet he did so because MTL wanted to prop up their high selection. He was almost instantly given opportunities that he arguably didn't deserve. It in turn created a stench of complacency, and ultimately put him within a whisker of losing his whole NHL career. He was assigned to the Marlies,he put in the work, He humbled himself, and showed why he belonged in the NHL last year. Same can be done with Josh IMO.

A highly touted player who was drafted, disappointed, then rebounded mid-career? It's probably the exception, not the rule. But you can point to players like Blake Wheeler or Alex Radulov, who disappointed early only to figure out different dimensions to their game. Wheeler, in particular, was a top-10 pick that forced a trade, didn't register more than 0.5 PPG until the seventh year after his draft — that's right around where Ho Sang is right now. Radulov had an incredible junior career, two better-than-0.5 PPG seasons in Nashville, then disappeared to the KHL. He didn't really become the player he is until more than a decade after his draft year, when he landed in Dallas.

Different scenarios, as both Wheeler and Radulov got more NHL time, and hence, more opportunity early on. But it's obviously possible, if not exactly likely. But Ho Sang's a comparably high-end talent, and the fact that he wasn't given as much opportunity for whatever reasons, makes him worth a shot, IMO.

Along with Verhaege, Marchessault is another great player who bounced around a lot before finding his footing. Florida messed up.

That line needs speed and a strong forechecker who doesn't dominate the puck and lays the puck off to the skill guys (Marner/Matthews), and drives the net. Hence why Hyman was historically been the best fit on the 3rd wheel on our top 2 lines. That is far from Ho-Sang's game.

Agreed, and we are prolly gonna see bunting more IMO or someone with some sandpaper in their game.

Three years ago I was invited to watch the Biosteel camp. Its a closed circuit training event that nhl'ers go to so that they can get reps in for the season. Everyone was taking it pretty seriously except for Josh Ho sang who was hot dogging, laughing, and swimming on the ice while guys like Mcdavid were giving it their all.

I don't have any expectation of him actually making something of this PTO. Walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

Imagine Ritchie and Bunting are getting first cracks at the LW spots in the top 6.
