A PTO is a good call for this guy .. See if he comes into camp with a new attitude and compete to earn a contract .. He's likely Marlies bound if he's signed but I imagine he'll take the opportunity.

He's only been within the Islanders organization .. A change of scenery could be the ticket to get him on a better track.

this kid will score 20 for the leafs next year book it :sarcasm:
He can't even score 20 in the AHL lol, and scored 20+ just once in 4 years of junior. He's just not that good, this is his final shot that's probably not gonna work out then he heads overseas. Or accepts a two way contract and goes to the Marlies.

Because his reputation is poison.
The last thing this Team needs is anymore distractions/prima donas/sulking etc…
Horrible team building assessment by Wonder Boy.
Yet again.
Then don’t sign him. It’s a tryout. Him skating with the team a few times isn’t going to do anything, but there is potential reward. Stop with the fake outrage

He's a young kid, he might have had issues in Junior and with his first NHL team, but if he's got the skill he deserves another chance. He might end up being a pain in the ass, but if you give him a minimum contract, you can send him packing for just the cost of money. Ideally you have a meeting of the minds before and discuss the past behaviour that caused issues and set expectations. If he buggers it up, not really a big deal for the Leafs, who's development would he block this year if given a spot?

Deangelo is a top offensive dman who many teams were after. Ho Sang is not an NHL caliber. So yeah…. Not even close to being better.
Ho-Sang has a lot of talent. Worst case scenario he sucks and/or continues to be a headache to deal with and gets cut. Deangelo's really only been a top point producer in one season and his off-ice issues were so bad that the Rangers bought him out. The last thing this team needs is a guy who spews hateful non-sense and FIGHTS his goalie.

Yes how dare he make a move with low/medium reward and ZERO risk. Like what's so hard to understand? They haven't committed a single penny or day of term to him.

Of course they will, Dubas just loves guys under 5’11 who are soft, lack heart, leadership or a winning pedigree.

Dubas has no clue what it takes to win in the NHL and the building of his roster shows that.
I mean as much as Mitch and Auston had a poor series, let's not pretend that the likes of Jumbo/Wayne/Hyman/Foligno did anything. The team had a lot of size last year and the identity of the bottom six was pretty well grit and heart. Grit is only valuable when it's attached to an otherwise competent player.

Everyone needs to realize we have to hit on low caphit high potential players, because we have no capspace

Why put yourself through it?
I’m not going to jump on another teams bandwagon. But after all the crap the leafs have done, to me - this is the worst era to be a fan. Before, they had a thin roster with no true stars. Now, on paper and in the regular season they’re a top team. I’ll be watching less hockey this year likely

It is the worst era for you. I am looking forward to the upcoming season.

Well there are those of us who were around for the Ballard era who are having a hard time agreeing with you.

It is the worst era for you. I am looking forward to the upcoming season.

No kidding.

Lamoriello and a free spirit?

A match made in heaven.

What could possibly go wrong?

Last chance saloon.
