Wow! That was not the top USA team either. Even if they did lose, we have to give those kids credit for competing like that. I, for one, did not see that coming. The shots were close as well. Must have been fun to watch!

You mad bro.

(by the way, as soon as Canada scored I turned to my friend and told him I doubt it counts) At the arena there was no replay and I didn't know if there was replay for officials until after the game. When I saw the replay with the time I lol'd
Dont think he needs to be mad at someone trying so hard to outdouch himself . Most of your fellow Canadians want to win fair. You dont, thats more your problem then anyone elses. Nice of u sharing it here, but wrong place.

That said could not care less who won.

So much bitterness. Didn’t the USA captain tell the ref it’s not his fault, that there was nothing that could be done about the call? Class act. He knew it was headed to OT, accepted the fact people make mistakes. It was anyone’s game in OT, Canada capitalized. It sucks, but it happened. Like losing in shootouts at the international level.

Last time I checked this website was not a court-room, so you can drop the high and mighty approach.

No one disputes what was agreed upon. What is disputed is what actually happened. Hockey is a set amount of time. In that set amount of time, we have conclusive agreed upon proof that the USA had 5 goals and Canada had 4 goals. That results in a USA win.

I don't think anyone cares that much about this result, but lets not distort reality. The USA won. Canada was handed the game because of bad officiating and this disgraceful contract that you know so well about.

Distorting reality is claiming the USA won

They lost. The tournament website says so.... today the USA will play for Bronze... today Canada will play in the gold medal game. That is the reality.

So let's not talk about distorting reality.

I am hearing reports that holtz is playing through an injury. Hopefully he is playing tonight.

They did have video reviews last year. Tough call to make on the ice, 50% chance of getting it right.

B-team

Usa hockey had all their players available. They choose who to send. Just cause they decided not to take their ntdp kids... thats not canada's problem... its usa hockeys.

The rules are that you can choose a team out of all available U18s. Thats the team you choose. No one was unavailable due to club team commitments. Quit whining that its a B-team and put the blame on your own federation if you dont like the makeup of the squad.

As far as im concerned... usa hockey picked the players out of all players available. That makes it what they think is their best
Your best player was the ref.

The rules are the rules..and for this tournament no video review allowed even when games televised because there were no televised games in Red Deer earlier. .so to be fair to all teams (because there could have been similar controversial goals in Red Deer) they put in a rule that ALL games we not subject to any video review even if there was video available at 1 location .So last night the rule stood that the call on the ice had to be maintained even if everyone knew (coaches and fans with video on their tablets) that time had indeed expired before it went in...But no change could be allowed. .the goal had to stand.

OK you say refs blewbitvand caused the OT..which USA lost...but to claim unfair is ridiculous for 2 reasons:

1. All sides knewcthecrules before the game.

2. The refs misses a clear tripping call in the Canadian zone on a Cabada LD and a goal by USA consequently resulted..that d-man might have skated it boutique or cleared the puck or gotten back to his position in time had he not been tripped down to the ice ..and so the subsequent goal might never have happened. .In this example we can state there's gave USA a break they did not deserve...So even Stevens ...SO Americans should not whine about this refund error..they benefitted from another reference error earlier.

What I agree is alarming for a best on vest ,is that really this was not the best possible USA team since no NTDP players eligible by age for such au-18 tournament were on their roster. .They would have been deeper had the best of such players been added to the best of what they brought(which were only American players playing in CHL or other Canadian Jr.leagues or from U.S. Jr. Leagues or High Schools)..that they gave Canada firs ...especially the Candia d-men who upto this game simply shine and dominated with easy exits,IS a credit to the depth USA one has ...clearly as often is said,Canada could ice 2 equally good teams for these tournaments..bit clearly now ,so can USA..

That several of Canada's top 2019 draft eligible got out-shone by a couple of USA forwards should not have happened ...Canada's best players were somen9f their younger 16 yr Olds like Lafreniere and Holloway ..while more was expected from guys like Krebs and Cozens (yes I know Cozens score the controversial tying goal to send it to OT ...but 9veralk in both this game and 8n the entire tournament for a guy rated #2 after Jack Hughes for 2019 9n a litbof pre-tournament ranking lists ,he disappointed in his production. .Krebs who was good on some of the other games did little I this game to justify his high ranking too..They gout out-shone by the American forwards Robertson and Toporowski who had great games. All of them are from CHL teams and are 2019 draft eligible. ..yet Krebs and Cozens and Dach are all rated higher than Nick Roberts and Luke Toporowsku. .yet in this big game the 2 American kids played better than the 3 top rated WHL plates. .That should not have happened. I am less critical of Dach who at least got an assist and was involved in scoring chances and I believe hit a post ..he had several bad luck finish g/post hits in some prior games too ..Krebs played bettering other games..Cozens did not dominate shifts nor create enough nor produce enough all tournament ..I do not think he justified his #2 ranking gb8n some kits or even top 5 from his less than starry impact this tournament ..On the other hand may evtiscwas a 1-off great game for. Robertson and Toporowsku and 1 great game should not be enough to move them into highest ranking g group ?They sure made Canada look incompetent .

The young Nathan Barron (2020 draft) had a really rough game coughing up a lot of pucks under fore-check pressure by USA ..qnd he made bad decisions so and bad clears and dud nit check well ..He had been stellar in prior games. SO again a 1-off? In this case a 1-off bad game ?Or a concern for so.e flaw issues? Hard to say..Very young ..so inconsistency could be an explanation .

Bower Byram the top rated Canada dman for 2019 draft also had a poor game against st the American fore-check pressure and in defending g transition rushes ...Again symptomatic of some flaws or just a bad 1-off game for him too?
Certainly the worst game of the tournament for Canada's d-men who had looked so dominant and solid be fore thus and 8 this game were exposed into shambles.

I had some empathy at first but lost it with all the whining.

The strategy by Canadian posters for packaging this theft is to call the victims "whiners." Canada should be fighting it out for a bronze, while the USA should be playing for Gold, as they earned. We can only count on Sweden tonight to hope for a just result!

Here are the results of a world-wide survey of which is the preferred team tonight:

99.9999% of the World's population will be cheering for Sweden.

A significant percentage of the population of Canada will be supporting the Canadians.

My comment was more about whining about the refs. Its obviously a call that would require video review to get right.

Watch this and make the call without the benefit of the replay / video review. Too close to call in real time.

99% of the world's population doesn't give a shit about a summer hockey Under-18 tournament.

Canada players definitely wont feel like they won in a legit matter after they win today

How do you know? Have you talked to any? Have they come out and said anything?

Has there ever been a team that had an iffy call go in their favor that then came out and said we don't feel like this is a legit win for us?

And why should they feel that way. They were the better team, they deserved that win and they won 100% within the rules and in a 100% legit matter.

Can't blame the refs per say.

It's just tough watching a bunch of B level kids pouring their hearts out on the ice against arguably the best team, only to lose because organizers can't provide rudimentary standard game technology.
