That answer convinces me you actually are a lawyer.

:)

Sorry, my son just started walking carrying around his McDavid mini stick. Just turned one. Hockey played a major role developing me into a man and the strength to survive the grind of 7 years of post secondary education + a year of articling.

Hockey is a genuine love and passion of mine, my apologies if that passion is overboard.

As long as hockey is still played as a 60 min game then Canada did not score more legitimate goals.
As someone else said, have they looked into when the timekeeper started the clock on the play to determine it wasn't started early? There's a lot left to human error, even a fraction of a second the other way and that goal is perfectly legit. As for not deserving to lose the game, any time you leave it to chance with the game in reach it doesn't matter what somebody thinks a team deserves, upsets occur.

Nope, I follow you clearly. You're purposefully being dense and misleading.
I am really not lol I was simply pointing out that it isn't a new rule or application. The IIHF uses the exact same protocol. It is either all games can be done under video review or no games get done under video review. It is a really tough way to lose a game but there is really nothing that the tournament could have done....or will be able to do about it going forward. Especially with the tournament going back to Europe next year there isn't a hope in hell they get video review. Hell I wouldn't be surprised if a majority of the IIHF u18 tournaments are played without review. I really fail to see why you think I would have any reason or purpose to mislead....for what?

I'm still in complete shock that they let that goal stand. Such bs.
I had some empathy at first but lost it with all the whining.

There definitely were replays in the Czech Rep. As I said, what's it amateur hour in Canada?

Video replay was needed but contact was made below the crossbar and the goal stood.
Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup »

but video replay was unable to show that the puck crossed the goal line in a scramble

I mean the logical conclusion to come to here is that both rinks had access to video review. It is a summer under 18 tournament it honestly isn't the end of the world lol Everyone gets to watch these prospects play another game and thats all that really matters.

To the bolded. Especially the European audience:

What happened is the Big 6 federations + Switzerland and Slovakia audience agreed that no video replays would be applied?

Why did the Big 6 + Switzerland and Slovakia agree to no video replay. To my learned friends, Red Deer didn't have the resources for video replay.

To relate, Red Deer is a tough "Hell's Angels" run town. Similar to Düsseldorf and those type of "origin proud" towns with Northern European blood. We just could get good cameras and play by play people there.

No disrespect to my Czech or Slovak fans, but you need to understand the type of city Red Deer, Alberta, Canada is.

Prairie born and raised western Canadian boys know our Anglo, Scots-Irish history and defended the Queen burning down the Yankee White House.

The point I make is, the culture and climate of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada didn't make it ideal for cameras.

I couldn't care less about the results of this tourney as it's a summertime exhibition, but I don't enjoy watching teams getting ripped-off.
Nonetheless, if you're gonna host this thing, at least have the basic components in place to run the tourney.
That instant replay wasn't available is utterly absurd, especially considering Hockey Canada has been advertising itself as being able to boost this tournament tenfold.

Make the periods 1201 seconds long.

That is what happens when all junior games are played in Canada. The refs were quivering, deer in the headlights looks on their face. They were intimidated by the Canadian crowd, and they effed over the USA rather than make an unpopular call. How else could you describe it? They didn't need video review, because the buzzer went off and the green light came on before the shot went in. Get over it, now that every tournament is played in Canada to get the Canadian money, we are going to have to get used to pro-Canada homer travesties.

Cheers, Snipes. Congratulations on your son. Nothing more satisfying, nor important, than fatherhood.

It gets a bit heated in here when it's Canada-USA. We tend to forget that we're all here because of our shared love of the sport.

Best of luck to Canada in the final.

Friend,

You agreed to the same contract as Canada and the USA.

It benefited Canada but we had to honour the deal.

Then perhaps Canada shouldn't be hosting this event. What is Red Deer Alberta stuck in the stone age?

I couldn't care less who wins, but I hate seeing kids busting their ass only to get ripped off because organizers can't and/or don't care to implement 21st century reffing standards.
Perhaps this ridiculous 'Gretzky' experiment should stay in the Czech Republic.

That being said, the hockey was fast, but really sloppy and ugly to watch. People say the World Juniors is sloppy, but this game was really bad, defencemen making dekes at the blue-line, a lot of puck watching and poor passes. It felt like a glorified midget game. I never really saw this poor play in other games of the tournament until this game.

4th game in 5 nights for both teams. Both mental and physical fatigue set in.

I think both teams are going to be running on fumes and adrenaline only tomorrow. 5th game in 6 nights lol.

This has already been a fantastic tournament to watch. How about Team USA, hey? Very fun, fast team to watch. I wonder if they’ll be fired up to take revenge on a potentially discouraged Russian team tomorrow.

Czechia is a Big 6 power.

I was just advising you of "Red Deer, Alberta". The western Canadian provinces are a unique place and far different then "Toronto and Montreal". We are different than Eastern Canada. We are more like "Düsseldorf" than we are other parts of Canada. Our climate and culture is different.

When I say Czechia, I distinguish your nation from Slovakia. Her Majesty the Queen notes that Canada shared hockey knowledge with Czechoslovakia in the early history of hockey but your nations split.

I have lots of of respect for your nation and fans. I think we split the tournament. Czechia one year, Canada the other. Prague 2015 was the best WHC in the last 20 years, Canada sent a powerhouse to your country.

To show my sincere homage, in western Canada our beer of choice is a "Czech Pilsen beer". We call it Pilsner, this is western Canada gospel. Our green canned "Pilsner" is our beer of choice.

Don't be an ass and try to be cute. You and I both know CAN didn't win. I think that Canadian team was really good and was fun to watch. They had lots of talent that I've heard about and was happy to see play. But... they didn't win.

I dont know.

I checked the score again... it tells me Canada won.

So much whining in this thread...

How's this?

You "beat" our B-team. Celly time!

B-team

Usa hockey had all their players available. They choose who to send. Just cause they decided not to take their ntdp kids... thats not canada's problem... its usa hockeys.

The rules are that you can choose a team out of all available U18s. Thats the team you choose. No one was unavailable due to club team commitments. Quit whining that its a B-team and put the blame on your own federation if you dont like the makeup of the squad.

As far as im concerned... usa hockey picked the players out of all players available. That makes it what they think is their best team.

From looking at the overhead, Canada is lucky the video rules are the way they are.

Tough break for USA.
