No video review = Human call = increased likelyhood of error... Particularly true for pucks entering the net as time is running out. All the crying in the world isn't going to change the call now.

And nations that are good at hockey play in top tier tournaments. What's the situation on video review in those IIHF tournaments?
....They have video review? Are you confused or something? I simply said that most IIHF tournaments don't have video review. What I said has absolutely nothing to do with who is or isn't playing in the game.

Don't be an ass and try to be cute. You and I both know CAN didn't win. I think that Canadian team was really good and was fun to watch. They had lots of talent that I've heard about and was happy to see play. But... they didn't win.

I watched the game and they clearly won, checked the website and again they have them both winning the game and in the Gold medal game as well.

At the end of the game, Canada scored more goals than the USA. A fraction of a second and the limitations of human error doesn't change that. Give the kids their due respect.

Onto the game, I thought the Americans played real well. They made it tough on the Canadians, they had a ton of speed and energy, but I thought they slowed down because it's tough to play like that against Canada. Canada had 4 lines that could just keep coming back and pushing the play into the offensive zone.

That being said, the hockey was fast, but really sloppy and ugly to watch. People say the World Juniors is sloppy, but this game was really bad, defencemen making dekes at the blue-line, a lot of puck watching and poor passes. It felt like a glorified midget game. I never really saw this poor play in other games of the tournament until this game.

If you read my post you can see I said CAN was a really good team. I'm not saying they did anything wrong. They didn't . But those US kids didn't deserve that loss. Anyway I hope they take a good lesson or two out of this. Not sure what it is... but there's gotta be one there somewhere.

Can't tell if bad troll or good joke.. I am laughing, so I'm leaning towards the latter.

A tie with no time left on the clock then winning it in overtime to defend your hegemonic power?

Nope, no hyperbole. This is the only best-on-best hockey we have sans NHL Olympic hockey and gimmick World Cup teams.

I thought Koster was impressive for the US along with Mastrisimone, Kaliyev... The goalie wasn't bad but he faced a ton of good shots.

Edit... How could I forget Robertson. Kid was really, really impressive.

Correct, and the Canadians will have to live with the bittersweet illegitimate victory they were just given. No pride will be taken home from that one. Literally every person in the arena knew how the game ended, there was just nothing they could do, after the fact. Ah well, good game.

Horrific way for a great game to be decided by inept refs and a second rate tournament in terms of organization. If the Hlinka ever wants to be the preeminent U18 tournament, it first needs to be run like one.

Team USA was obviously robbed, but I actually feel for the Canadian players a bit as well as they're going to see the replays and none of them want to win that way either.

Just a really sour way to end what was a game for the ages at the U18 level, featuring an amazing back-and-forth matchup between two stacked teams. There's a lot of talent on those two rosters that will be well known in future IIHF (thankfully, and it feels gross to say that) tournaments.

I feel like they will be alright.

A win is a win is a win... If I am on that team .. I take it and move on. Same as I would if I was on the other team.
