Carlson for Faulk isn't enough of a gap to make up losing a younger Pasta especially because Carlson wouldn't be a keeper for me.

Totally fair. You view it closer to how I would view it in your shoes, but I've been in enough keeper leagues over the years to know not everyone values future vs current value the same way I (or you) do, and I didn't know how you would see it of course. Some are more eager to improve now, especially if they think they have a competitive team. I also figured Carlson would easily be a keeper for you (don't tell me you'd keep Seth Jones over him lol). And Faulk I considered more of a throw-in to balance it out a bit, but I'd strongly consider a counter-offer that removed him from the equation if that were a sticking point.

Crosby and Pasta have almost identical value this season, and then Carlson instantly becomes your best defenseman.... is the way I was looking at it from a "compete right now" standpoint. But the offer was a bit of a risk for me too.... my team is a wagon right now, I've been trucking the league for 9 weeks straight and losing some points the rest of the way because of this trade would be a bit of a worry.

Ya we seem to disagree on many things here. Pasta has nearly 100 points more than Crosby. I wouldn't necessarily call that identical value, but to each their own. Carlson doesn't move the needle for me. Jones is what, 20 points behind him all season? When it all comes down to it, I'm not willing to lose out on Pasta for an at best even trade points wise imo for this season alone.

No sweat, I don't blame you one bit for not wanting to let go of Pasta. However, your valuation of the trade offer is off. You're right in that Pasta vs Crosby is not identical value, in terms of this season. It's actually Crosby who is carrying more value, and it's not really been very close. He was hurt to start the season, and then had a slow start once he was back on the ice, but since the end of November he has outpaced Pasta pretty significantly in fantasy points/game. Even counting his slow start where he scored something stupid like 15 fantasy points in 7 games, he's still above Pasta in pts/game for the season. I didn't even look at total points, because without context they don't mean much; pts/game is more meaningful.

My offer would have easily given you more points down the stretch. Crosby > Pasta in pts/game for months now, and Carlson > Faulk (or whoever your worst player is if we took Faulk out of the trade), recently, for the season, and just in general.

My calculus was that even though I would be losing points this season, it would hopefully not hurt my chances at a championship too bad. Meanwhile, I'd invest a little more in my keepers. It was all dependent on you valuing points this season vs. the future and, again, I don't blame you for wanting to protect the future.

Ugh that loss was really damaging for my playoff chances. Pick Petry over almost any other defenseman yesterday and it's a W, now I probably need to win out against some good teams and get a bunch of help. Not sure it's even possible anymore without my team somehow overcoming the tiebreaker deficit now. My forwards have to overcome some horrible defensemen and goalies this year.

:help:

I'm really sorry to hear this. Do they have a chance to get out somehow?

Man, another loss this week. All my best players can't stay healthy this yr and it's killing me.

I was pulling for you, bud. Mainly so that @Winger98 would lose and I could creep closer to a 1st round bye lol, but also want to see you make that fight for the last playoff spot more interesting. Looks like we have opposite rooting interests this week with Winger vs @Martinez.

lol, thanks! I haven't missed the playoffs yet so it looks like it's my turn to sit one out

we have a nice "original teams" matchup this week, may the luckiest GM win :D
Man I didn't want to jinx anything because I had such a nice start but it's looking good now. Also looks like I got the help I need to set up a play-in game with Martinez next week, we somehow got matched up head to head next week.

FYI, if you want to pick up the Jake Sandersons of the world (players leaving college now) right now let it be known that you can't designate them as a keeper in the offseason.

Congrats @Sparty, kick some ass in the playoffs
Thanks! That was a tough one for someone to have to lose, both teams were on fire. My score was highest in the league this year and yours was third highest. Been playing with my roster all year so hopefully I found something that works now.

Sorry, @Winger98, I knocked you out of that #1 seed bye at the very end. I think you had been holding that spot virtually the whole season?
