Nothing like waiting until the finals to forget to properly set my lineup for the first time all season and leave 50 points on my bench. Wow what a colossal goof on my part yesterday. Stupid super busy day.

oh jeez that's brutal. Looks like you're still in it so hopefully it doesn't end up being what kills you.

i made some line up mistakes as well, getting garland out of the starting spot and he gets 13, forgetting kuemper on the bench who gets 11. i also had chabot in there, before taking him out. it almost evened out.

this one will be close - i hope you don't pass me tonight, you have a few more starts

Current projections show we are 0.01 points apart lol! 879.04-879.03.

This one may come down to the wire!

maybe it will be close - but i would have to gain almost 30 points in 2 nights. I'd actually surprised if my team climbs out of this one

Just looking at your matchup right now, holy cow Stamkos is killing it. Nineteen points in his last six games and another game tonight against Islanders with the three seed on the line, so I'm sure they'll be motivated to win this one.

Yeah he's on a heater, and I'm here for it lol. 7 goals and 16 assists in his last 8 games

its certainly close, only 4 points apart!

Far more shocking is jeff petry, who is kicking my ass now. He was one of my keepers and had what, 3 points in the first 30 games before i released him :D

it seems like he's back from rehab

I had Petry for a while too and dropped him in my playoff matchup just because I could get three games from someone else while Petry was just going to play one. Turned out I would have been better just keeping Petry because whoever it was I picked up didn't do squat. I don't know what happened when they made that coaching change but a lot of players for Montreal got a lot better right away.

One thing I'd like to suggest for the future is tweaking the prospect keeper system, and here's why:

Since we pared down the league from 14 teams to 10, there are fewer total keepers, so the average caliber of keeper has gone up. To me, this has created a larger disconnect between the 3 "prospect keepers" we are allowed and our 8 regular keepers. To me, the whole point of prospect keepers is to have a potential pipeline to the 8 regular keepers, no? But at this stage, that pipeline feels nearly severed. You basically have to decide after a prospect's age-20 season whether to keep him over one of your regular 8 keepers. And unless you have a real bad keeper pool, or a near-generational prospect, seems to me it's going to be rare to transition a prospect keeper to a regular keeper at this point. Not to mention, you are spending a draft pick on these kids too. Essentially, the current prospect keeper system is nearly pointless.

Not sure I have a great solution to this issue, but wanted to bring it up. Perhaps we just change the prospect keeper rule to allowing kids to be kept from the past 5 drafts, instead of 3. Or until their age-23 season. Something like that. Somehow extend the runway there.

If anyone has thoughts, please share!

Congrats jaster! Tough break for the Turkeys, another great season where they come up just short.

Yeah I agree something is off about the prospect system, not really sure how to fix it though. There's so few prospects now that can come right into the league and contribute enough to even help your team, so you're having to decide if it's worthwhile to keep them or replace them with an older player who's more helpful to your team. A lot of the guys that end up in the NA slot aren't going to ever help your team out when they make the league, the prospects who do usually come straight into the league or come over after college (and you can't draft them and put them in NA slots anyways).

It was decided before that we don't really have to carry three prospects, so I don't police it anymore. I think when it was decided we'd have a prospect system we never really knew how it would work, but now seeing how it plays out in action I think if you're going to do it you almost need to expand it and have teams carry more of them so that it gets to be a competitive advantage or disadvantage by having great or poor prospects. I don't know what the number would be and I know in doing that it's more work for the commish, so who knows.

Some players I have available for trade. looking for picks only.

Malkin, Tom Wilson, Lehner, Kadri, ect... Could be keepers for some. Let me know if you are interested before the draft.

I think because the trade deadline is passed there's no more trades until after the draft. I could be wrong about that, but I just tried to queue up a trade and it gives a message "You may not perform a trade because the trade deadline for your league has passed." I'd have interest in Kadri, but I don't think we can deal anymore.

im pretty sure we were able to make trades before the draft in previous years. maybe its in the settings somewhere?

Alright, maybe the league has to proceed into offseason mode first or something. I don't see any commish settings to change anything right now other than getting rid of the trade deadline maybe.

I'm assistant commish for my dynasty baseball league on Yahoo, and I handle all the roster stuff (trades, keepers, etc). You're right, there's no way for the commish to process trades right now in hockey. We'll have to wait until next season's league opens up. At that point, the managers still can't make trades amongst themselves before the draft, but if any trades are agreed upon on this forum, the commish can manually process them.

My baseball league typically has a flurry of trades in the preseason after Yahoo opens the league back up and before the draft. I'm always trying to convince people to calm the f down, but I still wind up processing like 30 trades

Thanks. My team got hot midseason and just never stopped. I lost in week 11 and then ripped off 14 straight wins to take the championship. Interestingly, I think my two closest matchups in that stretch were week 19 against @turkleton85, and then against him in the championship, where my bacon was definitely saved by Stamkos's absolutely insane finish to the year (7 games, 9 goals, 13 assists, and 132 fantasy points). I wondered all season if I made the right choice picking him with my first pick in the draft and he certainly answered that question. Great season, Turk, hopefully we both have good teams next season and can continue the rivalry :fight:

Thanks @jaster , this was a nice final. I guess my roster is pretty set - although i traded you marner. But with Barkov, mcdavid, hedman, carlson, j. robertson, crosby, one of terry/chabot/bratt and demko, i'll have a good keeper list
